The Flood / Resurrection of F.
« on: August 09, 2015, 09:28:32 AM »
I saw the english dub of Resurrection of F yesterday, and I'd like to mention a couple of things.

Firstly that little controversy over Piccolo getting taken down by that red guy, and then Gohan nailing him with one punch despite having not trained since the Buu saga. In the film, before Gohan steps in Piccolo is going toe-to-toe with the guy and says to Gohan, "I've got this." So, that's not so bad, maybe Akira Toriyama isn't underselling Piccolo as badly as it appeared.

Secondly, when Tien arrives at the battlefield he says that he left Chiaotzu and Yamcha behind because he didn't think they could handle the battle, and Gohan says that he left Goten and Trunks behind because of their immaturity. Chiaotzu, Goten and Trunks being left behind I can understand, and I even prefer Goten and Trunks being left out because I find them extremely annoying, but Yamcha?
You see, Krillin brings Master Roshi to take part in the battle, and he does, successfully. There is no way that Yamcha is weaker than Master Roshi. This is just shitting on Yamcha for the sake of shitting on Yamcha. Or maybe Tien just didn't think it through properly, but ultimately it was Toriyama's decision and I think it was a stupid choice given that Master Roshi took part in the battle and they were just facing simple foot soldiers. I think Yamcha should have been involved.

The Flood / The government is forcing you.
« on: August 09, 2015, 08:51:43 AM »
The government is forcing you to name your child either 'Hammer Lord' or 'Lord Hammer'.
Which do you choose? Which is better?

I feel like this is a question which could divide the Flood into two opposing camps of thought. But let's try to keep things civil.

The Flood / Oh, Awake!, never change.
« on: August 08, 2015, 07:40:54 AM »
So I picked up a copy of everyone's favourite Jehovah's Witnesses magazine, Awake!, to read on the train today, and I found a little gem of awkwardness. Check this passage out:

Quote
The “words” and “sentences” in DNA make up the various “recipes” that direct the production of proteins and other substances that form the building blocks of the various cells that make up the body. For example, the “recipe” might guide the production of bone cells, muscle cells, nerve cells, or skin cells. “The filament of DNA is information, a message written in a code of chemicals, one chemical for each letter,” wrote evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins. “It is almost too good to be true, but the code turns out to be written in a way that we can understand.”

The Bible writer David said in prayer to God: “Your eyes even saw me as an embryo; all its parts were written in your book.” (Psalm 139:16) Of course, David  was using poetic language. Nevertheless, in principle, he was right on the mark, which is typical of the Bible writers. None were even slightly influenced by the fanciful folklore or mythology of other ancient peoples.—2 Samuel 23:1, 2; 2 Timothy 3:16.

Lol.

The Flood / Water Buffalo
« on: August 03, 2015, 11:31:07 PM »
Water Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) originate from southern areas in Asia, and China. There are two types of Water Buffalo: the River Buffalo and the Swamp Buffalo. Both have been domesticated, at around 5,000 and 4,000 years ago respectively. Their milk contains more fat and protein than the milk of dairy cattle, and worldwide more people depend on the incredible Water Buffalo than they do on any other domesticated animal.

What do you think?

I'm back from my holiday. How is everyone? Well, I hope!
As for my holiday, I'll just share two or three pics from the week on the mountain, which was my first time in snow :)

I became a Snow Foxey :3

By the clock tower in the Village Square

And also I ate some cheese during the following two weeks in Melbourne. Check it:

Spoiler
Behind you can see some Italian Goats cheese, and front and center, that is the infamous Cambozola!! YUM. Cambozola is basically a hybrid of triple cream cheese and Gorgonzola (an Italian blue cheese). So, think of a really rich Camembert made into a blue cheese. Not very subtle, but it's hearty and delicious. I've even heard it described as 'meaty'.

AMA me anything.

The Flood / Soon.
« on: July 11, 2015, 09:05:44 AM »
Soon I will depart. When next we speak I will be in the snowy wastelands of eastern australia, struggling for survival against high altitude wombats. My body is ready. I have spent today eating to gain a layer of protective fat. To those of you who see snow all the time this may seem trivial, but this is my first time.

Snow tips?

The Flood / Elegiac's Food Review
« on: July 10, 2015, 01:48:11 PM »
Tonight I have tried two new potato chip flavours. XTRA Kickin' Jalapeno Cheese by Pringles, and Camembert and Quince by Windsor's.

The Pringles have a dominant cheese flavour identical to cheddar cheese Pringles, with a tasty bite of garlic, onion and jalapeno. I enjoy Pringles for not being a fatty, rich, eventually-sickly-overwhelming chip, and these are no exception.

Windsor's Camembert and Quince have the quince as the dominant flavour, with an undercurrent of camembert creaminess behind it. While they could stand to be cheesier the flavour is definitely not unappealing as it is; I long ago discovered that I enjoyed chips with a sweet flavour, such as sweet chilli, and that they partnered well with (most commonly for me) a good cream cheese dip. I feel that these would also work well with a mild savoury dip, perhaps french onion.

I rate the chips 4 and 3.5 out of 5 respectively.
