I'm pretty nifty at Dark Souls
PVP or PVE?

Definitely the first. Looks a lot more sleek and less "pompous" than the second one.

I agree. I have always thought that any Flood offsite should be for the flood and by the flood. I don't think this should be a private group owned and fully governed by the administrator that made it. Not sure if simply making polls for every issue is how to go about it (perhaps public dialogue with the staff before deciding on a proposal which the admin puts up for voting and stickies it?), but the members of the forum definitely deserve a voice.

Montana getting boring?

Oh wait, you're in Montana. That's in the middle of freaking nowhere. And cold. It's Kaltistan.
The only reason I'm here is to visit my girlfriend, who still works 4 days a week. We're living in a nice neighborhood, but there's not much to do around here. The city isn't exactly all that closeby either and we just got a new dog that needs more or less constant care the first couple of weeks, so I'm sorta stuck at home.

Plenty of games to play or movies/shows to watch though, so I'm not exactly bored. Only problem being that a few shooters aside, my girlfriend is into JRPGs and the likes, which isn't my cup of tea.

Any suggestions?

The Flood / Re: Protheans vs The Covenant
« on: August 07, 2014, 12:46:34 PM »
That's too unfair for the Protheans. I stated that "planet destroyers" wouldn't be allowed, and that includes massive orbital bombardment and glassing.
It wouldn't even take glassing or destroying the actual planet. I was thinking more along the lines of several hundred Covenant cruisers just bombing the shit out of any settlements from the safety of space.

But if that isn't allowed, I have no idea. Never really got into Mass Effect, so I'm not very familiar with the Protheans.

The Flood / Re: Protheans vs The Covenant
« on: August 07, 2014, 12:42:39 PM »
My limited knowledge of Protheans aside, I'd say that the covenant would be superior in space and the protheans on ground. Once the covenant establishes dominance in space, all there's left for them to do is mercilessly bomb the living shit out of any Prothean planet. I'm assuming they'd ruin most of the planets they're trying to conquer this way, but it would still be a win for the covies.

Always up for some shitposting and has a tendency to test the boundaries and rules, but a very decent guy nevertheless.

Wrong. A permit is only needed to openly carry a LOADED firearm.
Yes, I'm sure all of those unloaded firearms are stopping so much crime, especially when everyone knows the gun has to be unloaded.
Quote
And while militia conscripts do receive a government-issued rifle, they can still buy commercial weapons.
Only when proven you are not a dangerous person to public safety, have a clean criminal record and have yourself and your gun registered. Unlike in the US, the Swiss do not have a constitutional right to own a gun.
Quote
Before 2007, the government passed out 50 rounds for each service rifle for the case of emergency.
And after 2007, the government had all of the issued ammunition retrieved and discontinued the practice of issuing it.

Switzerland is not the gun utopia some are making it out to be. Its gun policy is still considered restrictive, and the "look at Switzerland with many guns but little crime, it's proof that the US needs more guns and less regulations" argument is deeply flawed.

Spiders live everywhere, man. You're just not looking hard enough.
Oh no, we definitely have our fair share of spiders. Just none that are larger than my finger or dangerous to humans. Worst possible bite? You end up with an itchy red spot on your skin that goes away after a few days. Nothing comparable to what you guys have in Australia.

15701
I doubt you'll end up being arrested for that. A warning, perhaps, but I don't think the police will take someone (drunkenly?) prank calling some people at a party that serious.

At the risk of sounding like a bragging 12 year old, I am naturally good at most FPS games, although I rarely stick to a single game long enough to become "godly" at it. The only games I would consider myself that good at are Wolfenstein: ET, CoD Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops. I used to be in the top 50 for Free for All in that game.

Word, the skill gaps in shooters aren't actually that big for the most part, though. The difference between the best players and the average players is noticeable but it isn't so 'in your face' like other games.  Plus, with just how many people there are that usually play shooters, it's harder to define the best players in the world unless there's a good deal of tournaments being hosted.
I couldn't disagree more. Games like Quake have almost no skill ceiling and are incredibly high skilled. Starcraft aside, I can't think of any game that takes as much skill and thinking as Quake does.

Whenever I go to the zoo.

A couple of dogs almost attacked me last night though. But that's not really what you mean.
Nothing poisonous? I live in a place where there's little to no wildlife that's more dangerous than a dog, so the thought that there might be a spider underneath my porch that could actually kill me is pretty weird.

15705
No, you interest me.

Force Predator to watch gay porn and then shoot it at him.

His life would be destroyed.
I'd bet you 50$ that he's secretly wanting that. Seriously, in all my years on Bnet I've never seen anyone who's as much of a closet homosexual as Predator.

I am bored. I know that I can be a condescending dick to people sometimes, even people I like and care about, but I hope that is not the only side of me that people see.
It's not the only side that I see, but it is unfortunately the only side that I've come to know. Hoping to see a different side of you though, you don't seem like a bad person.

Once again, to the people who think "but look at muh Switzerland" is a viable argument in any way: despite having a large amount of privately owned firearms, Switzerland has very strict gun regulations. As in, publicly carrying firearms is strictly prohibited unless you obtain a special permit that is only granted to people in certain situations, such as those working in private security.

Also, the reason Switzerland has so many guns is because their army is actually a militia. Everyone has to undergo military training at a certain age and is afterwards given a state-issued rifle that does not come with any ammunition and is to be kept at home while in wait of a military conflict.

And since this threa has basically turned into a "what mod is worst" thread: Predator is one of the least capable moderators I've ever seen. I understand he made some pretty pictures with forge and theater, but that does not make him qualified in any way, shape or form.

You have a really good point with the whole "law abiding citizen" thing. But I do think that the "gun" problem is more of an inequality/Demographic problem. There's a gigantic correlation between poverty and violence, and if they have guns. Well, that's just their mean. Look at Chicago and Detroit.
Oh yeah, I agree with you there. Guns on their own are not the issue. Mental illness and poverty lie at the base and should be addressed. In the end, guns are nothing but inanimate objects. But unfortunately not a tool like any other. It is the easiest, most lethal and most practical piece of equipment to murder someone.

And because of that reason, I don't feel like everyone should just be able to get their hands on one and carry them around in public. I mean, just google "shooting" and sort the results by most recent. What you'll find aren't just gang members or organized crime. It's often just ordinary people. People that would be considered your typical "law abiding gun owner" but just lost it. Felt threatened and pulled out their weapon. Got drunk, angry or emotional. Ended up in a fight...

The current US system is based on the idea that everyone should be able to just get a gun no matter what, unless they're either proven to have a mental illness or have been convicted for certain crimes. I have always thought the other way around is a more sensible system, as in no one should be able to own a gun unless they've proven they have a good reason to, have underwent the necessary theoretical and practical training, and have had a psych evaluation done.

There's benefits to gun ownership, but it's just much of a responsibility and burden. And as much as I want people to be as free as possible, the 15,000 people that get shot every year in the US alone shows me that it isn't a responsibility everyone can deal with. And yeah, I'm very much aware that this is effectively punishing a minority for the actions of a majority. But although morally debatable, I still feel that it is a necessity.

I'm glad I can be such an inspiration to you all.

Welcome back. It's good to have you.
Mon Belge ami!
My American friend! How's life?
Doing pretty well right now. Just got my grades for the quarter and I got a 3.6 GPA. And I may be off to Germany sooner than two years in fact. So I may even be there at the start of 2016! That'd be just amazing. :?)
Great news. Fingers crossed for that. :)

Gun control won't matter to me cause I'm gonna be living in Germany in 2 years. One thing that really sucks about Germany is that they have extremely restrictive gun laws. But that's a price I'm willing to pay.

You realize almost all of those crimes are committed with illegally obtained firearms, right?
A very large part of those "illegal" firearms were once legal. There's no underground criminal factories that just pump out illegal guns to be used in crimes, you know. Those guns come from somewhere.
Quote
The people who are willing to follow the laws and buy guns legally are not the ones killing each other.
Wrong. Your "law abiding citizen" is responsible for hundreds of those deaths. Simply because, shockingly enough, there is no way to tell what people are going to behave responsibly with their gun and not just whip it out in a heated argument.
Quote
You'll also notice a suspiciously large portion of these crimes occur in cities with heavy gun control.
Which have very little to do with each other. Those cities are almost all traditional gangster or gang cities. It's not the heavy gun control that causes crime, it's the high crime that causes gun control. For example, Chicago, being the #1 argument pro-gun people like to bring up here, actually drastically lowered its crime rate after instituting stricter gun control laws.
