Hundreds of thousands of guns are stolen in the US every single year, combined from both burglaries and other forms of crime. That's dozens of guns stolen every single day. Of course, not all are taken from people carrying them in public, but some are bound to be. Just because it doesn't end up on social media and becomes a news story that can be found through google, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Does it happen all the time? Probably not, as that was a bit bold to say. But I very much doubt that it is such an isolated event.
