The Flood / Re: I just want to check with everyone here
« on: October 12, 2014, 07:37:27 AM »
I'm talking about when Anarchy is up. Out of all the porn we are allowed to post, we are unofficially banned from posting loli
After what happened last time, I don't know if there's even going to be another Anarchy as we know it. But if it does return, I'm sure there'll be very clear rules about what you can and can't post.

Loli is banned for good reasons, so I don't see it returning even on Anarchy.

They banned loli without officially banning loli. WTF, mods? Make up your minds.
"Keep your posts on-topic and "safe for work". The further you stray the more you'll tempt a ban. This includes pornographic images and videos."

Seems pretty clear to me.

When you're doing it use an avatar that's wearing a ski mask so they wont know it's you.
Solid logic, I don't see what could go wrong here.

Serious / Re: What do you think about animal testing?
« on: October 12, 2014, 07:26:01 AM »
Animals don't agree to it. Who decides which species is superior?
Nature. We adapted the most and colonized the planet. We are the dominant species of our world.
Quote
What if aliens far more advanced than us used us for testing?
That would suck, wouldn't it?

Either way, I'm not going to get dragged into what's essentially an extension of the vegetarianism debate. Sucks for the animals in question, but if they are not treated disproportionally inhumane in relation to the goals of advancing science and medicine (something which also benefits animals, for that matter), then I am fine with subjecting them to tests that could potentially lead to the improvement of the life of not just humans, but all sorts of other species out there.

Wouldn't you be fine if some scummy person was tested on? Heck, the tests would give far more valuable information.
If the person agreed to it then sure. Otherwise, nope.

Still my favorite trailer ever. E3 2006 is rounding up and then, at the very end, Gates drops this bombshell on the crowd.

If one is going to make such an argument, couldn't that logic apply to kidnapping and forcibly testing on humans as well?
It couldn't. Not all species are equal. Call it morally repugant if you wish, but I am fine with subjecting animals to certain tests if it could save and improve the quality of life of millions of people. Of course, there  are limits to what we should be able to do to animals serving as test subjects.

Completely for it when it comes to medicine/science.

I'm only not against it for things like cosmetics on the grounds that the animal isn't harmed.
This. It's a necessary evil. Justifiable if it's for a medical application that could potentially save thousands of people from pain, sickness or death.

Those ridiculous laws are what's keeping us from ruining our planet and a possible Tsjernobyl 2.0. Nuclear energy is definitely promising, but it needs to be regulated well. Not saying we're at that point yet, but our current situation is better than allowing people and governments to take extreme risks with nuclear material.

Absolute nonsense. Nuclear power would be FAR more safe if we weren't using reactors from decades ago. If the government wasn't holding progress back we'd have plenty of energy and plants that never failed. Not to mention we're close to fusion energy. Even the waste can be recycled and rendered harmless with plasma.
Like I said before, "Nuclear energy is definitely promising, but it needs to be regulated well." Public health and safety regulations should be a priority when we continue using nuclear power more and more.

Oh, that must be nice.
It's not bad. I've only been the UK twice and it was raining both times I was there, so the stereotype does seem to be pretty true.

You'd be better off blaming ridiculous laws and uneducated people that have made nuclear power impossible top improve or become practical world-wide. We have to power the world somehow.

However, I'd advise the rule maker to be more lenient on these kinds of threads, but still have an iron grip if things are pushed outside of the line.
So now we're all of a sudden talking about leniency when it comes to applying the rules and a certain "line" that can't be crossed.

Your good and objective rule is now no longer flawless and relies on the ultimately subjective interpretation of whichever member of the staff dealing with it.

Moderation on a forum is not that different from a real life state, you know. Only here, there's no real separation of powers. You have the admin coming up with the rules in agreement with his staff (I firmly believe this process should include the entire community and not just a select few, but that's beside the question) as the legislative branch would, and then these rules are applied by moderators who take on the role of judges. They interpret the law and apply it to concrete situations. If you're not happy with a decision, you can appeal in public and with Cheat.

It's not a bad system. It just needs to be more transparent and more of a two-way street.

It's been sunny for most of the week. Which is surprising since we're in autumn which would put slap damn in the middle of rain season v2.
Where exactly do you live? I could go check the thread, but fuck that.
