The Flood / Job Interviews
« on: November 26, 2014, 07:17:50 AM »
So I just had my first series of talking to major law firms at an event my law society and university host. Looking for a summer internship or something part-time for next year.

So far so good, it seems. Not sure if I'll end up with any of them (or want to, actually), but I've been told I have a way with words. My odds are significantly better talking to people than just submitting my resumé, I think.

Anyone else in a similar scenario?

So, I've never done an AMA before and figured that me joining the staff was as good of an excuse as any to finally get around doing one.

It's my first time, so please be gentle Flood. Ask away.

The Flood / Horror Movies
« on: November 23, 2014, 10:44:30 AM »
So I just saw Sinister (again) and was wondering if any of you fine people are into horror movies. Over the course of the past few years, I've gotten into the genre more and more myself and am always looking for more good stuff to expand my collection.

Any suggestions? What are your favorites? Or just discuss horror movies in general.

Serious / Throwing chairs at judges
« on: November 22, 2014, 07:00:11 AM »
As some of you may have read about, a man in the Netherlands threw a chair at the judge who convicted the man responsible for the death of his 2 year old daughter and her grandparents in a traffic accident. The reason for the father of this girl's outrage? The man was convicted to a mere 120 hours of community service and temporary loss of his driver's license.

Unsurprisingly, this ruling is now followed by public outrage of people demanding a harsher punishment. All we know is that the man lost control over his vehicle and ended up on the sidewalk, killing the 3 people walking there. Because there is no evidence to support that the man was speeding or that criminal blame falls unto him, he is merely convicted for accidentally endangering traffic, which is what led to this mild sanction.

Thoughts? Video of the incident (the SFW chair throwing, not the accident itself) below.

The Flood / Oneplus One
« on: October 20, 2014, 03:25:41 AM »
So, after taking this forum's advice into careful consideration, I ended up settling for the Oneplus One smartphone. I was lucky enough to get my hands on an invite, and ordered the phone yesterday. Really excited to get my hands on it, as its size seems like the only downside.

I might end up doing a review on it later, who knows.

Anyways, discuss good phones and stuff.

I need some of you to come play Quake with me. More damage dealt by myself than the rest of my 6 man team, a net of in the 30's, 62 kills out of our 102... and the team still lost. Come play with me guys.

The Flood / Smartphone Advice
« on: October 16, 2014, 08:25:52 AM »
Okay guys, I'm considering buying a new phone, which is something I know very little about.

Currently still using my trusty old iPhone 4, but it is slowly dying on me. I wouldn't otherwise be looking to spend money on a new phone, but mine is going slower and slower, the audio jack sometimes refuses to work, apps are crashing and the battery life is becoming pretty abysmal.

No particular preference towards any brand or OS, so I'm a blank slate. Advice me. Something not too big or expensive would be nice.

Serious / >government formed
« on: October 07, 2014, 03:20:57 PM »
No worries people, Belgium's federal government has been formed after only a handful of months. No details yet, but all is well.

I hate to disappoint anyone who was hoping for us to break our previous record, though. Anyways, no panic. After all these weeks of desperation and extreme anxiety shared among all Floodians, you can now all carry on with your normal lives. It's been quite the journey, but there's no more magnificent bunch of fuckers that I would've wanted to spend it with than you people.

Love,
Flee.

So, Flood, it's my birthday today. At 22 years old, finally a big boy.  And since you were all invited to my birthday party, now would be the time for the unwrapping of the gifts. Post pictures of what you got me!

So yeah, pretty self-explanatory. A survey to get a general idea of the Flood's academic achievements. Answer the poll and tell us about what you are studying, what you aspire to study and in what field you are hoping/looking to be employed.

Let me know if your situation isn't present in the poll and I will add it in there.

I'm currently bored in class (criminal sanctioning law, for those wondering) and figured I'd make a thread for some random, general conversations with my fellow floodians.

So, what are you guys up? Life not treating you too badly, I hope? Let's talk about stuff.

The Flood / Leaving Murica Tomorrow
« on: September 18, 2014, 10:08:50 PM »
So as some of you know, I've been in the US for around two months. Passed all my classes, got the first part of my thesis done and finished my internship so I figured I had earned the time off to go spend the summer with my girlfriend. It's been a great time which unfortunately only makes leaving all that much more of a bitch, but I must admit that I do miss home and I am kinda glad to be going back.

I should be asleep right now since I'm getting up at 4am to catch my plane, but I'm wide awake. Hence this thread to pass the time and overcome boredom as I count down the hours. Talk to me Flood.

Gaming / Destiny Codes
« on: September 12, 2014, 10:06:31 PM »
Not sure how many of you care or don't already know about this, but here's a compilation of (as far as I'm aware) all known and public Destiny codes to be entered on Bungie.net. Just go to the Bnet code redemption page, sign in with your account and enter the codes. You can then claim your "rewards" from the specialties store in the Tower. I didn't make this but I figured it was worth sharing anyways.

Gaming / Destiny
« on: September 12, 2014, 03:00:45 PM »
I just completed Venus and this is just about every single mission in the entire game so far.

>Ghost tells you to go some place
>Shoot aliens on the way over there
>Plug in Ghost for it to open a gate / hack a code / retrieve info / whatever boring shit
>Defend Ghost while he "needs time" (he never actually needs to time: instead of having to hold out for a certain period the game just usually throws 3 waves of increasingly harder enemies at you. It's also never "defending" because the Ghost has no HP and can't be destroyed. The enemies still focus on you only, so the only way you can "lose" is by dying.)
>Phew what a coincidence, Ghost managed to complete whatever he was doing just after all the fighting. Just like the other 23 times so far.
>Ghost tells you to go some place else.
>Kill stronger enemy
>Repeat ad infinitum

I'm seriously disappointed that pretty much every mission plays out the exact same with some extremely minor variations. Sure, sometimes it's retrieving information from a library or hacking a control system instead of opening a gate. And sure, sometimes you have to go places on foot instead of by vehicle. But in the end, the missions are as boring and as linear as can be.

Anyone else feels the same?
