I use adblock, so...
Why?

Because ads annoy me.
There's a tiny space for an ad banner that shows up 1 out of all 10 times you refresh a page. It's hardly intrusive or obnoxious in any way. I'm not a fan of ads myself, but it's hardly even noticeable and keeps this site alive, so I see no reason not to disable my adblock for this site.

How do ads keep the site alive?
Yes, this isn't some free proboards forum. Cheat is paying for the upkeep, server costs and certain plug-ins (like the notifications one). By putting up ads, the revenue helps cover these costs.

Serious / Re: Lesbian parents start sex change for their 8 year old boy
« on: February 24, 2015, 04:13:46 PM »
This is all assuming he even knows what the hell getting a sex change entails. He's not an individual that can consent nor is he of the age to be able to comprehend any of this fully. This is wrong, it doesn't matter how you try to spin it. At that age kids do and say many things they either don't mean or change their minds on later (everyone wants to be a firefighter or police man at that age basically), and I know I personally also did weird things like wear my mother's high heels (given not because I felt I was a girl, but because I found them weird and odd to walk in). Should my parents have gone out and started gender therapy once they saw this? No, it was me being a weird little kid, so why are these parents doing the same? This isn't something that should be forced. This should only be allowed once the person comes to an age where they can understand the ramifications of this and being 8 years old is definitely NOT that age. I'm appalled by how many here agree with their choice despite the fact it's overriding this child's life and he cannot comprehend it himself. You people scare me. "It's for your own good, trust me!"

Take this comment for example,

"My son who is now all boy used to like to wear my shoes & clothes when he was a preschooler. He also like to play with baby dolls & use his pretend kitchen. I guess if I were these parents I would have ran out to buy him girl clothing & tell everyone he thought he was a girl. Sorry. I agree with supporting a teen or pre-teen, but these women are cruel."

These women ARE cruel to this child. This could easily be a phase he's having and not gender dysphoria, but nah, they'd rather skirt that idea and go for hormone treatment and prepare to set this kid up for something that may not even be true. All while he legally doesn't understand it.
Again, it's not a sex change. It's hormone blockers. If you missed out on my previous posts in this thread, that basically means that they are holding off on allowing puberty to make irreversible changes to his body. If he changes his mind, they stop the blockers, he takes testosterone supplements and nothing will have happened. If he sticks with it, he'll be that much closer to changing his gender.

How in the world are you're comparing wearing your mom's heels once to a child that has spent more than half his life desperately wanting to be the other gender. A child that has threatened to cut off his own genitals because he couldn't live as a boy anymore and that has been diagnosed by an actual professional psychiatrist with GID. You seem very eager to simply forget about these facts to further your own argument here.

Same thing with you trying to put your own spin on it. Claiming that we're saying "It's for your own good, trust me" ? Making it out as if the parents are forcing the kid to do this? Are you, again, conveniently forgetting the fact that he wanted this himself for pretty much the entire duration of his life and that he felt that his situation become so unbearable he'd rather cut off his own genitals to be more like a girl?

And it kind of stops being "just a fase" when it lasts pretty much his entire life and you have an actual psychiatrist diagnosing the child with GID.

I see where you're coming from, but seriously, stop twisting the facts like this. I'd be just as upset if this were people forcing something on their child and going along with every whim or taking drastic measures just because their kid enjoys playing with dolls instead of action figures. But reading through some articles on this, it's pretty clear that there's a lot more going on than just that.

There's only so much you can do with therapy though.
Says who?
Every decent therapist ever? There's a reason why they can prescribe drugs and certain types of treatment. Talking can do a lot of good. But there's certain things that just talking can't fix.

I miss my chicken ;_;7
What happened to it?
We live in an apt. and since our place has a lot of gardens we'd let her go out and do whatever she wanted she was a smart chicken so she never went out of the street, she hanged out in this tiny grass field, and she'd wait for my dad's car to run back to the house, well if I remember she let people pet her and one of those days someone decided to take her don't know if she's chicken food or their pet I prefer the latter
Damn, that sucks. I know what it's like to have someone steal a pet. I hope she's okay, somewhere.

Cheat if you think this is funny I want to see you laugh when I sue you for millions if not billions.
I would love it if Cheat could pick individual ads for specific people.

Why waste my time doing things I don't like, for the false promise that I can do things I like later?
Because the promise usually isn't false. A lot of things in life require money and some investments, unfortunately.

But it is a false promise when all you get out of an education is huge debt with no means to pay it off.

Not to mention, I don't require much to stay alive. I don't plan on having kids until I meet someone, so they would probably be the sole money maker in the family. I'm fine with that.

And if I end up lazy and alone then so be it. I wouldn't make a difference either way.
That's one way to look at it, I suppose.

The reality is that you do need money for some things. I want to travel. I want to be able to give my partner (and children?) whatever she deserves. I want to afford myself certain luxuries and freedoms. I want a nice place to live and a financial stability that allows me to do almost anything without worry. And those things require money. So while I would prefer it otherwise, I do know that I have to conform with some things in society. It's why I have been working hard to graduate with a Master's in Law this year, knowing that it's a good degree that'll give me a lot of opportunities.

Plus, working also gives some sort of fulfillment. While it isn't always nice, of course, there is a certain satisfaction in knowing you're earning something. Knowing that you are working in a team and that you are contributing to a final product is pretty nice and gives a kind of purpose.

Not disagreeing with you, but I can see why people would find it lazy. I also personally think that you are very much going to regret these decisions later, but that isn't exactly my business.
