Isn't region locking a thing for most console games still?
My girlfriend is an avid gamer herself and is bringing over her Xbox. I can use hers for American games.
how excited are you for her to come?
Very. I've been together with her for a few years now and am getting pretty fed up with this long distance thing. I couldn't be happier knowing that she'll be here for good in a few months time.

Buy an onahole for when she's not home.

And a prostate massager for when she is.
I'm genuinely surprised that only 2 responses so far have been of the sexual kind.

i'd like to see your view on the information within this site

http://www.justfacts.com/guncontrol.asp

although it's as long as black cock, it's worth a look
Well, I'm only half a page in and they're already citing the piece I mentioned above. A 20 year old heavily critized study made by an openly pro-gun researcher (who even poses with guns on the picture of his wikipedia page, for reference) whose "research" that has been more or less ripped to shreds, has never been replicated and that the author has refused to defend when asked to do so.

A little further down the line, and their sources are still very outdated. It's becoming a little amusing at this point, seeing the obvious cherry picking. For the "neutral" stats about crimes, they have no problem using recent and actually valid government statistics. But when they're actually trying to make a pro-gun point, they don't seem to have a single recent and legit source. "1993 survey", "survey data from 1998", "1994 survey", "1982 survey", "US justice department study based on crime data from 1974 to 1985..."

I mean, this is painfully biased material because they are intentionally using outdated sources. The US Justice Department collects and analyses this information on a yearly basis. When information for the years 2013-2014 is already available yet the website still clings to a single statistic from back in the 70's in an attempt to prove a point, it kind of becomes obvious they really don't have much to go by.

Then there's the comparison with the UK without accounting for the different definitions of violent crimes and homicides, nor taking crucial differences into consideration. "Let's completely ignore the fact that homicides had already been increasing in the UK before the handgun ban and that the year it was instituted, the police was reformed and the ways of collecting data were changed in a way that it greatly expanded the number of recorded offenses, but simply point out that the year following the gun ban the amount of homicides increased!" Yeah...

There's the good old Chicago argument, conveniently ignoring the fact that it's not a city with high crimes because of the strict gun control, but that it's a city with strict gun control because of it's high crime rates. It's interesting to see how they tried to wiggle themselves out of this one though. As they show themselves, after consistently rising for 7 years, the Chicago murder rates dropped by almost 20% the year after the gun ban was instated. Yet, they try to turn this into a "bad" thing by pointing out that this was still lower than the nation wide average murder rate. "Despite tremendously improving its situation after stricter gun controls, the crime capital of the US that's struggling with decades of organized crime and gangs still isn't as good as the rest of the country the year after they implemented gun control. Conclusion? Gun control obviously doesn't work". Refer to my bandaid on gun wound analogy above to show how ridiculous this is.

The rest seems pretty neutral stuff. Just statistics on gun ownership, gun shows, carry licenses, state laws, background checks... All of which rather recent, which only comes to show that for the parts where they actually make pro-gun arguments, they have no choice but to go back to 30 year old studies to find "evidence" supporting their position.

When they do allude to certain states being better off because easy access to guns, they refer to crime rates falling while conveniently leaving out the fact that this is no different in the states with stricter gun control. Look at this, for example. "Texas right-to-carry law becomes effective in 1995 and murder rates went down afterwards!". Yeah... Just like they had been since 1990. Paying close attention to the graph, you can see that the murder rates actually went down less than they did the years before the gun ban. Not saying the gun ban is to blame for this smaller decrease, of course, but it just to comes to show that they're not making any decent points.

And I apologize, I didn't intend for this to be so long.

So tl;dr: part of the site are good and useful statistics, but most of it is biased and outdated, conveniently leaving out key points to make poor and paper thin pro-gun arguments.

Guys please, I'm not looking to shrek anyone. Just clearing up some misconceptions Fatty here has. You don't educate someone by humiliating them. This is just a friendly debate, that's all.

This brings the question if I have a backwards compatible PS3. >_>
Aren't they all? You can get it on the 360 if you have it.
Only certain models are. Glad to know it's also on 360, I'll look into that.

I'm wondering if you would like this...

It's $9. About an astronaut that gets left behind on a Mars expedition. It can get very technical and there's some chemistry involved, but he makes sarcastic and humorous remarks about his situation.
I'll check it out. I used to read a lot, but my studies have killed recreational reading for the time being. Thanks.

Long story short: I got a 100$ Amazon gift card and as it turns out, Amazon credit doesn't transfer between stores. In other words, I can buy 100$ of stuff in the US Amazon store.

The reason I'm not just saving it for when I need to buy something is that my girlfriend will be moving from the US to the EU to come live with me. Seeing how very few sellers ship across the Atlantic and it usually costs a ton in shipping, I'm thinking of spending the 100$ now and have my girlfriend bring over the goods when she comes over.

I already have a similar thread up in Gaming for video game specifics, so this one is for all things that aren't video games. Recommend me stuff to buy.

As I like playing video games, this thread is about games and accessories in particular. Recommend me good games (all platforms except for next-gen) that I should buy. Any genre is welcome.

« on: March 05, 2015, 08:37:58 AM »
Never really heard anyone openly support any American politician over here.
Thought you were American too? Oh well.. it doesn't have to be a shout out openly. What I was looking for if a buddy and his group are talking, they get into politics and one openly admits, "Yeah, I like Obama for the most part." Or something foolish like that.
Nah, I spent a lot of time in the US and am pretty familiar with the country's laws and politics, but I'm not American myself.

how else are you going to function shit like cruise control, climate control etc etc
Nowadays, computer modules in cars also regulate the engine, steering, fuel, brake control, battery management transmission, locks, windows...

There's usually several different modules in a single car, all regulating different things. You should probably check with the seller which one exactly is broken.
yeah of course, but op did say 2003.
Fair point. No idea how important the modules were back then. BC could probably answer this.

If it was something Dark Souls related, then maybe. Haven't really played pokemon since Ruby and Sapphire, so I'm not too concerned with this.
