It's not that I don't get where you're coming from, I just think that there are some issues with your views. Yeah, you probably do have some sort of mental issue with coping with certain adversities and hoping to and actually feeding off your own negativity, but I doubt that's all. You ask me if you wouldn't have found the right job at this point, but that's exactly where I think you're mistaken. Take no offense and correct me if I'm wrong but, from what I know about you, I'd say that you're kind of sheltered and not too experienced with a lot of stuff in general. To my knowledge, you're not particularly well traveled, you have "only" a basic college education and the jobs you have had largely are kind of menial, all while having a seemingly relatively comfy life. And I think that shapes how you view employment. It's quite telling that when you describe a job you could have, you frame it as slavery in a shithole dealing with horrible, hostile customers and terrible, apathetic coworkers to get a pitiful paycheck and repeat the same menial thing every day while literally none of those things are inherent to being employed. Just to use myself as an example, I have enormous amounts of freedom at my job and the money I make is far from piddly. I don't work at a shithole but a modern facility tied to a university that's packed with hundreds of years of history. I don't deal with any customers at all but instead work with very motivated professionals and academics I work only on interesting projects of my own choosing and get to do something different all the time. None of the things you made out to be negative about a job are present in mine and there's no reason you couldn't land something similar. Also, you didn't really address the second point I made. Jobs can let you do things you otherwise wouldn't be able to. They can provide you with resources, opportunities and access to things that you on your own couldn't really have. That said, I do understand you to some extent. I like my job, but not all of it 100% of the time. And even the parts that I do like, I'd sometimes much prefer doing other things instead at a particular time. But that doesn't mean that I hate it at its core. It just seem to me that you have a pretty narrow view of what jobs might be like and that you don't really recognize that a job that aligns closely to a passion or an interest can be very fulfilling and give a lot of purpose. Part of what I like about mine is that I can and do make a real impact. As you said yourself, you might want to try and enjoy stuff a bit more. You've got a lot of years ahead of you and even if you never change your opinions on stuff you might one day realize that you've willingly thrown away your one shot at life (even though you never asked for it) and lived it in a miserable and unfulfilling fashion. You'll probably just dismiss this right away, but keep things up the same way and you might wake up 40 years from now feeling like there's so much you missed out on because of your pretty militant views. Yeah, in a perfect world no one would have to work. But this isn't one. And no one can force you to be productive and not lounge around doing as little possible, but there's (long term) benefits to doing so anyways. I don't always wake up happy to get to work either but I know that it's for the best and that I'll appreciate it later on. Getting a PhD, publishing research, making real contributions to important advancements and spreading knowledge, all while making money that allows me to travel, improve my quality of life and make the most out of my hobbies? That's pretty good stuff. I also sometimes wish I didn't have to but knowing I'm working towards something, making an actual impact and that I get to do something I'm interested in? That makes it a lot more bearable and I really do think you'll regret it at some point if you don't.

i don't even want to enjoy a job, as that would qualify as a sign of early onset dementia
I dont get this weird thing you have against jobs
it's a productive way to spend time and go out into the world
yes, i love knowing that i live in a world where you HAVE to indenture yourself to some slave labor in order to be considered "productive," and it's absolutely not okay to be unproductive—it's absolutely not okay for you to just do whatever the fuck you want to do with your own life
i just love shaving off 30 to 40 hours of my week working at some literal shithole so i can deal with belligerent, retarded customers and apathetic lackadaisical coworkers every single day of my life
all to get a piddly paycheck with which i can hardly survive if i wanted to live alone, and even if i could, it only means that i get to buy food, feed myself, and wake up the next day knowing i get to do it ALL over again day after day after day and this is your fucking life now
wow that's so awesome that's just the american dream right there
There's jobs that you might find more compelling and worthwhile though. There's also some things you can't realistically do without it being a job.

Ideally? Having a PhD, becoming one of the leading scholars in my field, doing consultancy / legal counsel, having moved to a different house, gotten married with the GF. Oh and be a Twitch partner making $$$ playing video games.
How are you going to have time to stream doing that much work
I already do much of that and still find time to stream.

So if its only Verbatim, why don't others partake in discussions of mods or have threads of there own? There's a difference between being "anti-modding" and just not really caring much. I don't have anything against modding at all and did some of it myself way back in the day, but I don't think anyone here is really interested. Unless there's some really major mod being released, I don't think you'll find many people who will care about RGH consoles and such. Maybe an Xbox One, but not a console as old as the 360.

I don't think this community is very anti-modding. The only person who really is that way is Verb and that's because he has a very narrow view of playing a game and enjoying an artistic medium only as it was intended by the creator. Other than that I can't really think of anyone else who is opposed to it.
Oh and there actually are legal limits to some kind mods aside from those that damage services.

Not much my dude. Things have been alright for me as well. Stream continues to take off more and more, and I was just informed tonight that another paper of mine has passed peer review so that I can go do a presentation and keynote speech on it at a Swiss conference in a few weeks. All in all good stuff.
Glad to hear you're doing better.

New record = 75 consistent viewers and 210 followers. Great stream, I got to cast the QC Reddit 2v2 tournament and it involved several pro players that I got to be in game with. Plenty of good feedback and people asking me to do more of this in the future. Also got a pretty sweet shoutout and some recognition by the #1 Quake community streamer, so that's fun as well.

Biggest downside is that you only get them for as long as you keep paying for PS+. Also, starting next month, they'll be scrapping any PS3 backwards compatible titles from the list. The fact that Xbox doesn't do this makes it the more worthwhile service imo. You can pay for 1 month of Gold to snag the games you like and they will be available forever, even if you no longer have the paid membership. I've gotten some fantastic games on there in the past that I have yet to play, so it's nice knowing I can go back at any time.
that's a shame
neither service is perfect, for sure, so for me, it entirely comes down to the games
and as i've shown mathematically, the ps4 just has more of them
As someone who has both an Xbox 360/One and PS3/4, I think it's not just about the exclusives but more about the games they actually offer on this service and what they let you do with them. It's easy to tally up what you think are the good exclusives of this gen but that says little about XBL Gold and PS+. On the Xbox, I've received Fable 3, Assassin's Creed 2, 3 and 4, Crackdown, Dead Rising 2, Rainbow Six Vegas 1-2, Halo 3 / Reach, Sleeping Dogs, Gears of War 1-3 and Judgment, Dead Island, Civ Revolution, Hitman Absolution, Dust, Saint's Row 3-4, Dark Souls, Street Fighter 4 AE, Dishonored, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Darksiders 1-2, Red Faction Guerrilla, SSX, Witcher 2, Sniper Elite v2, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Terraria, Army of Two TDC, Mafia 2, Just Cause 2, Thief, Plants vs Zombies, Metro 2033 and Last Light, Crysis 3, MGS 5 GZ, Walking Dead season 1, Dungeon Siege 3, Operation Flashpoint DR, Dirt 3 and Showdown, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Dead Space, Borderlands 1-2, XCOM, Spelunky, Far Cry 3 BD, Mirror's Edge, Beyond Good & Evil HD, Forza Horizon & 5, Burnout Paradise, Force Unleashed, Dragon Age Origins, Bayonetta, Battlefield 3, Killer Instinct s1-2, Sunset Overdrive, Lords of the Fallen, NFS The Crew, CARS, Ryse, Watch Dogs, Superhot and dozens of other indies (pretty high quality ones too) and smaller titles. I just skimmed through the list on wiki and noted down some of the ones that I remember downloading. Pretty good deal in my opinion. The PS+ version has had some good games too, but I personally prefer this line-up even if they're not all system exclusive (neither are they on the PS). Even if the PS4 has more or better exclusives, that doesn't mean it's free games service is the better one. And even though it has offered more games in the past, few of them are backwards compatible and many of them are the kind of indie game that doesn't even have a wiki page.

I should check Sapphire out again and see what it's all about. I have an account there still. I got invited to join the group back in the B.old days and left the same day I joined because of how horrible it was (apologies if anyone here takes offense to that but it really did fucking suck) which I believe landed me on some blacklist. Memories, memories.
You're welcome to join again.
The do not invite list/blacklist from the b.old days isn't really in effect anymore.
Had a look around and don't think it's for me. The ideology is extreme to the absurd (literal NK & Stalin apologetics, no thanks), the groupthink and echoing is massive without any real discussion of any substance, and it both strikes me as kind of boring (a handful of people talking for the sake of talking, even much more so than this place) and indeed not too welcoming (if not hostile) to new people. You guys do you, but I'm going to bail. Perhaps I need to stick around longer to get the full idea, but this is what it comes across as to me. If this counts as "badmouthing" deserving a ban under your policy, then feel free to do so. Account name is just "Flee".

He thought he was raped. That probably is because he was raped.
Yeah...that's um...that's pretty awful...
Next up on "Pranks with Charlie": Charlie and the gang wait in a dark alley wearing ski masks until a woman walks by. They jump her, steal her purse, force her to have sex with all of them and then run away. Best part? She'll think she was raped and robbed. Hahaha, a real classic prank providing fun for the whole family!

I want to play Russian roulette here in the office.
Bring doughnuts and muffins but two are laced with either Viagra or a laxative.
So two guys will have boners for the whole day while two others will be shitting themselves.
@Flee - is this legal if its just a prank bro?
Calling it a prank doesn't make something any less illegal. Depends on the jurisdiction you're in but slipping people drugs is usually pretty damn illegal. Also, Viagra is prescription only and it's against the law in most places to give or sell those to anyone who doesn't have a prescription for it. So yeah, probably not very legal.

That and they boot out old users
"Look at our most popular game ever this year! And look, everyone's happy on our official forums, even offtopic!"
"Criticisms of the game? Only that we have none from our loyal fanbase*! " *that have bought Destiny 3 GOTY-NODLC Limited Edition -Activision, Bungie.
"You sure everything's okay, Bungie?" -"Haha yeah don't worry about it just play our next DLC haha it's going to be great BECOME LEGEND haha" (screams of constructive criticism and banned veteran forum members are heard faintly behind the door)
Should have Sep7, Sapph, all the other offsites, and the remnants of The Flood/#Offtopic bursting out the sides.
I was thinking about something similar but wasn't willing to spend more than 2 minutes in MS Paint putting it together so that'll be for someone else to add.

-Invent a time machine that teleports people back to the present after a certain amount of time -Charge people money to go back and play Halo 2 and Halo 3 in its prime
Bungie is saved
Hold up. How is that going to work? You need an Xbox 360 and an Xbox Live subscription to play the game online let alone a copy of the game excluding the Halo 3 beta. Even back in its prime, you'd have to have the money to buy those things and create an account every time to go back in time.
I don't have time to explain time travel to a simpleton such as yourself.
You just don't like it when I point out a flaw in your logic. Unless you are willing to supply people with a 360 with access to to the internet and Live with a copy of the game each time they go back in time, its not gonna work.
Let alone a place to hook all that shit up.
Me a simpleton? I think not. I'm just explaining why your theory won't work.
I'm sorry that you're jealous of my idea. Perhaps you should spend your time more wisely, maybe you'd be able to come up with million dollar ideas like me.
I'm not jealous. On paper I think its a great idea, but how would you be able to execute such a thing if its possible? Did you have a spare room setup with a 360, the game, controller, and a XBL account?
Oh, I see. Now that you've made a fool of yourself, you want to be nice just so you can steal my idea. You think you can just steal my millions right out of my pocket? Fat chance, kid.
not if I go back in time and make the comment first
you fucking son of a bitch
poor once again while the Australian takes the money TYPICAL
