The Flood / Re: Reccomend great headphones that I should look into« on: July 02, 2015, 12:08:13 PM »Not saying that Bose isn't great, but they should really be considered primarily for noise cancelling. They're also very pricey for what they actually offer and are considered somewhat overrated.what would you recommend then? are sannheisers really that amazing? never used themBuy Bose. Seriously so much better than beats and definitely don't buy skull candy. I've had 3 pairs that just stopped workingBose's main strong suit is noise cancelling. They're definitely good headphones, but if you are not specifically looking for something to block external noise, there's better choices than Bose. Sennheisers are top notch. They offer extreme audio and built quality at a reasonable price. Reasonable being expensive, but not too expensive for what they offer. The HD 800's that I got to try out at their store were hands down the best headphones I've ever used. A lot of people consider Sennheiser the best "general" brand. They are great for audiophiles, while not focusing on anything in specific (like DJ purposes, noise cancelling, fancy designs...). Other really good general brands are Audio Technica (which does tend to market primarily towards DJ's and studio purposes), AKG, Shure and Sony's upper line. Great sound and build quality, solid products and good money-value ratio. Then there's the really fancy brands that go just as much for style as for sound quality. Grados, Beyerdynamic and Bang & Olufsen come to mind. These usually are pretty exclusive and of hand-crafted quality, but that comes at a price. If you're just going for good quality and comfort, I'd avoid these unless you want to spend the extra money on the looks / brand name. Either way, you can't really go wrong if you go with the upper line of any of the established brands I mentioned above. I love Sennheiser because I think they look great, sound amazing, are very well made (dat German engineering) and have a great customer service / reputation. They've always been my prefered brand for those reasons. But that is mainly personal preference, and there's many other good choices. But if I was BC and had the money to spend, I would go for Sennheiser's HD 800's. 7209

Gaming / Re: Arkham Knight's combat can get a bit too much sometimes I think« on: July 02, 2015, 04:12:52 AM »I just thought it was boring, that is all. Very comparable to AC, in my opinion. Too much countering and whatnot. Is it anything like the previous games? Because Arkham Asylum + City were a boring counter attack fest.Knight's combat requires you to rely on more than your counter button/key. As OP said, there is a lot of variety among enemies in each fight. You're gonna have to adapt and change your attacks about every second. 7216

Serious / Re: Economics AMA« on: June 26, 2015, 03:31:42 PM »Hopefully that's coherent enough for you; if you have any other specific examples I'll try to explain them as best I can.No, I understand. It more or less matches the answer I thought of. It's still something that taints the field of economics imo, though. I can't help but get rid of the impression that a lot of it comes down to numerous groups / specialists all coming up with a different interpretation of data and different choices of policy, all founded on really solid arguments, and that when one gets adopted and ends up being different that predicted, all the others basically respond with "told you so, idiot". Like I said, I'm no expert, but this has always been one of my main gripes with economics. 7228
Serious / Re: Economics AMA« on: June 26, 2015, 02:43:49 PM »
What is your opinion on the inconsistencies in economics?
I'm no expert myself, but financial / tax / economic law has been a big part of my education. One of the few things that has always struck me is how inconsistent it is. By that I am refering to the many different schools and economists disagreeing on pretty fundamental things. There are dozens of extremely intelligent and highly educated people with a very good understanding of economics coming to completely opposite conclusions. One of the cases where this is very apparent is how people criticise institutions (IMF, ECB...) for making terrible choices. I am not defending these institutions one bit, but they are some of the most renowned economic facilities in the world. The people working there are among the best in their field, having spent decades of their life getting an excellent education and a ton of practical experience, yet I've seen you criticise these people who combined have more experience with and insight in economics than we could ever dream of having. Yet all of this aside, I have seen people criticising them and going as far as calling these institutions absolutely moronic for making a certain choice. I know I'm doing a terrible job at putting this into words, but I hope my point is still somewhat clear. 7229
