What the hell is a living dex?
BTW you don't need to know about EV/IV/breeding shit to play/beat these games. The majority of games I played, I didn't even realize those mechanics were present.
Play in this order: Platinum Soul Silver White White 2 X Alpha Sapphire
That should give you a good start. Skip Platinum if you want, a lot of people don't like the region. Soul silver is widely regarded as the best in the series.
Like Tyger said, it's just a collection goal. A full pokedex is having had at least one of each pokemon so that it's marked off in the pokedex. Get a Charmander and evolve it to Charizard and you're done. A living dex means that you have one living specimen of each kind, as in individually owning a Charmander, Charmeleon and a Charizard. And I'm not really looking to play through all the games again. Just the last 2 and catch them all (or at least a great amount).

Is religion really such a big part of sports in the US?
Nope
Just going by what the article's saying.

How many can I store without it? And can I still trade / transfer pokemon between XY / ORAS without it?
930
You'll have more than enough space.
Alright, thanks. I'll just ignore that then.
At first you'll only have 7 boxes. Once you store at least one pokemon in each box you'll gain access to more boxes, up to 30. You'll get one more for capturing the cover pokemon making it 31.
Ah, thanks. I was reading up about it in the wiki too. Sounds good enough for me.

Alright, so breeding's easy for basic purposes / collecting. Same pokemon / ditto of different gender, get the egg and make it hatch. Shinies are irrelevant. Same thing goes for Shiny Charm? I suppose the oval one does have its uses, though? I don't worry about EV/IV, pokebank is useless if I just stick to XY and ORAS (and trade between them) and I don't need to trade between generations as I can get them all (events aside) without it.

I would skip out on X/Y on go straight to OR/AS simply because the X/Y sequels will be coming within 2 years and also because there is almost no post-game.
That would make it impossible to get all the pokemon though, no?
You can trade Pokemon between X/Y and OR/AS so it would be a lengthy process, but not impossible.
Well yeah, but I do need XY to get them all. Unless I want to simply trade 300 pokemon with randoms, which I'd rather not do.

Just buy a regular 3DS with both sets of games. You can easily trade or battle with most counties in the world and the Pokemon Bank costs like £5.00 or whatever your equivalent is, this allows you to trade Pokemon fin previous games to ORAS.
Wait, pokemon bank costs extra money? What does it even do? Do I need it to trade between XY and ORAS? Can I still store 700+ pokemon without it? I'm not looking to go back to any of the older games, just sticking to XY and ORAS.
It's only 5 bucks a year and it's for storing up to 3000 pokemen.

Similarly they can lock a Pokemon off just by asking for coffagrigus, because the brain wizards at Faccistendo, geniusly banned The name of their own pokemon with their word filter. There's many many Pokémon that can't be traded because of that censor.
Even Bulbasaur.
Because "sau" (meaning "sow", as in pig) is apparently a curse word in German.
Sau literally means female pig in German, yeah. It's basically the German equivalent to female dog / bitch as an insult.

Alright, so:
- Do not get a 2DS, they're not worth it. - Even the oldest 3DS models can still run the newest games and connect with all other 2DS / 3DS models. - Even the oldest models have all wifi / connectivity / trading options that the newest ones do (don't care about the amiibo stuff). - XL probably nice, but more expensive and not necessary. - I can connect to American systems just fine if I have a European one myself.
Correct?

My previous joke thread aside, I am genuinely considering getting a 3DS. The reason being that my girlfriend has one (the MLP Fluttershy one I posted a pic of). She likes pokemon and despite having not played any of the games since Ruby and Emerald on some random vacation, I do too. Since she finally moved over here and we're now getting to do stuff together, we decided it would be a pretty cool idea to play the games together and to aspire a full pokedex / living dex (or just make a wild attempt at it).
So this thread is about three things, more or less.
I know little to nothing about Nintendo handhelds. Which one do I get? Do all of them play the latest pokemon games or is there a difference? Do I get a 3DS, 2DS or the new one? Am I best off going with the oldest model second hand, or something else? I am looking to spend as little money on this as possible, as X/Y and ORAS is really the only thing I'd use it for. Do they all have online connectivity and trading? Do I need an account / friend code and will it let me trade randoms online? How does all of this work? Any difference between American and Euro models? Region locks? My girlfriend's is American, will we still be able to link and all that?
Secondly, I don't know that much about pokemon. I know the basics and can play the games well, but the whole breeding / shinies / pokebank / gen transfer / EV IV training / online trading is all from past my time. Can anyone explain some of this to me?
Finally, the pokemon challenge. I read that you really only need XY and ORAS to catch them all. That true? What's the tactics of doing this? Do they still only allow you to have one save? Can I make more and transfer pokemon between saves? Can I easily trade them with my girlfriend? Can you trade between XY and ORAS?
Thanks to anyone who's willing to answer these questions and explain me some of this stuff. You get a gold sunshine sticker and a 10% ban reduction code (enter "SeptaFlee" in your next ban appeal PM to redeem, terms and conditions may apply).

I don't really think of mine as really Halo related. I like the colors and symmetry, which is why I took it back in B.net. Never really thought about changing it up.

Not exactly the same, but my grandfather got diagnosed with an incredibly rare cancer and died a month later. He was somewhat fine for the first 3 weeks and then crashed overnight. I'm glad my girlfriend arrived on time to still see him the last day he was lucid. That night he started imagining bugs on the walls and thinking people were coming to hurt him. Next day, he couldn't get down the stairs anymore and hardly even knew who he was. He stopped speaking that day and for the last week of his life only vaguely gestured and nodded, except for the few times where he would talk in German, French and Latin in attempt of randomly explaining illnesses and sicknesses to people. He had been a doctor all his life. Last thing he ever told me had something to do with freezing your arm to see your veins better, or something. Then he winked and fell right asleep. He died later that night.

Gotta agree with Verby here. Deadpool never struck me as anything less than meme/fan service the superhero.
I have to admit that the crack at the Green Lantern movie was good though.

Now this just screams populism. A lot can be said about the actual sentencing in this scenario, as this is an almost 90 year old and sick man being imprisoned, but that is an entirely different issue of criminal sanction law. No matter how you look at it, the guy was driving around with a loaded and functioning shotgun in his car. Should he have been jailed in his situation? Probably not. But that doesn't necessarily mean that this law is flawed. Prohibiting the public transportation / carry of shotguns is very reasonable and commendable.

Combat looks good (and sounds great too, going by the reports of those who got to see the game at E3 and noted how similar it was to DS1), setting looks very meh. I only got to see Bloodborne on videos and streams, but it had the most boring and least memorable atmosphere / art style of all the souls games. And this looks a lot like Yharnam 2.0, unfortunately.

These kinds of discoveries do make me wonder what kind of consequences this could have for vegans and vegetarians though. I'm no expert, but research like this seem to happen quite often, and the one clear tendency is that plants have a lot more to them than we once thought. They have some form of memory, can learn certain things, can do more than respond to the same stimuli in the exact same way, feel stress and so forth. Who knows what's still to come?
Purely hypothetical question to vegans / vegetarians here: if research would show that plants are actually capable of experiencing some sort of actual suffering or pain, would that lead to you stopping eating fruits and vegetables?
