Go for Latin. I did 6 years of Latin and 2 of Greek, and much preferred the first. More useful too.

I can imagine latin being pretty useful if you want to do biology.
It's also pretty useful if you want to study Latin.
Yeah, it's useful for a myriad of things. Latin is rather common in a lot of fields (sciences, chemistry, astronomy, biology, religion, history, medicine, pharmacology, law...) and can really help you learn languages or just understand your own better. Aside from being able to understand writings in Latin, it really provides a lot of insight in how many modern languages work and relate to one another. It's kind of hard to explain, but because it's such a fundamental and influental Roman language, knowing it well really does shape and change how you look at other languages, including your native one.

Just wanted you all to know that I just saved your innocent eyes from Russian spambots posting shemale porn and random shady links. Not as if anyone here is into that kind of stuff anyways.

Septy died
Belgian SWAT sleeper cells were dispatched to his location the moment he dumped that beer. May they have mercy.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people would falsely believe federalizing driver's licenses would somehow be a good thing.
Why is that? I don't care or hold an opinion either way, but I'm just curious.

But it hasn't prevented any deaths or injuries, as far as we know.
If we did know, it wouldn't be working very well.

it's as much of a spoiler as saying there are guns in battlefield 4
Eh, I wouldn't agree. The trailer reveals nothing of there actually being aliens in the movie and it's not at all clear how much (if any at all) of the movie takes place outside the bunker.

Either way, I only edited a [ SPOILER] in the thread title so that no one would come in here and somehow have part of the movie revealed. Better to be safe than sorry and just cover it all rather than debate what would be obvious from the trailer or not. Not gonna bother with individual posts, but I do think it's fair to at least have a spoiler tag in the title. Some people are awfully sensitive about that stuff. >_>
Yea, wouldn't want people screaming bloody murder and asking for permas now would we.
It would indeed be very nice if we could avoid that this time.

If you own a gun, what do you care if someone knows you own a gun?
There's a number of reasons with most of them being rather poor ones. The good reasons would be general privacy concerns and risk of robberies. Every single year, hundred of thousands of guns are stolen in the US, making it one of the 3 main ways firearms end up in criminal hands. Rather than serving as a deterrent, criminals are often eager to get their hands on guns kept by civilians. If I ever owned a gun, I would prefer it not being public information either.

The Flood / Re: so im in chicago right now
« on: March 13, 2016, 02:02:18 PM »
Statistically speaking, Chicago is not really all that violent compared to other cities in the US. It has high murder rates but those are naturally tied to its large number of residents. Looking at rates rather than absolute numbers, I believe it only just falls in the top 30 deadliest cities in the US.

So you probably have a day or two to live.

unless it is entirely confidential and cannot be accessed by non-law enforcement persons
That is entirely reasonable and how it works in pretty much all developed countries with gun registries. It's also one of the necessary steps the US has to take to tackle its problems with gun violence. As I've said before, there already are too many privately owned firearms and too much of a gun culture for guns to just go away, even if you give it a few decades. The only reasonable way forward is to become like Swtizerland.

5185
Nothing, really. I already don't have guns and have no intentions of ever owning them. I also don't consider bearing arms or the private ownership of firearms a human right, so that makes things pretty simple.

What the US government should do is support quality research and lift the NRA sponsored ban preventing the most capable institutions from researching gun violence. The US has a massive problem with gun violence yet still knows very little about it. It's absolutely necessary to first research the issue more and obtain better knowledge of the problem. Then, the next step would be educating the people of these findings and show that it's extremely likely that the easy and poorly regulated access to firearms causes significantly more harm than it benefits people. Legislation and buyback programs should then follow suit.

And to think I helped you trade and evolve your pokemon. I did not foresee this betrayal.
