Also, remember to check the basement of where you're staying for hidden Panther tanks.
It's a big fancy hotel so I have my doubts, but I'll go downstairs and have a look.

Is this the virtue signalling that the angry man on YouTube warned me about?
Is that just a buzzword at this point?

As for the other suggestions: thanks, but I'm gonna pass.

Stuff your face with local food. Eating new food is like 70% of the reason I go on holiday.
Planning on it. All my expenses, food, drinks and so on are all paid for too. :)

They're most likely doing it because it affects their business, not because they're morally opposed to it.

If anyone thinks that all these corporations are doing this out of the bottom of their hearts then I'm not sure what to say.
I doubt many people actually think that. I sure don't, if that's what you were getting that. It's likely that many of the people at the companies do so because of their own morality, but they wouldn't do it unless it would benefit their company somehow.

Going to Berlin for work because I have to speak at a conference in a few weeks. What do when I'm there?

Too hard for a kid who doesn't speak the language.
What do you mean by this -- genuine question.
I'm not a native English speaker. I didn't grow up in the UK or US, so I didn't formally start learning English until high school. Ocarina of Time came out when I was 6. I understood little to nothing of pretty much every game I played at that age, as they were all in English. Some were fine and simple, like Pokémon, but others weren't. Imagine being 7 years old trying to get through Ocarina for the first time, but the game is entirely in Japanese. I don't think I made it out of the first village area / Deku tree because I had no clue what you were supposed to do.
Oh, that's understandable - I thought you were playing an already translated version.
Nah, just the English one. It was a struggle back then but also helped my English skills tremendously. I was co-leader of a pretty large British Wolfenstein: ET clan at age 11, lol. I probably could've passed my senior year high school English exam by the time I just started high school. Thanks video games. <3

It's one of those things that I definitely do understand the math behind it and get why they're the same, but still feels wrong intuitively. I know why they're the same and how you can prove it, but instinctively I still can't help but feel like they're not because there's still that 0.000000.....0001 that you'd need to bridge the gap.

Maths is pretty cool stuff.

From the trailers alone, Atriox seems like a badass and memorable enemy.

http://www.theverge.com/2017/2/6/14527132/trump-executive-order-lawsuit-amicus-brief-new-companies

Quote
Adobe, Bungie, IAC and HP join amicus brief against Trump’s immigration order

Thirty one companies have joined an amicus brief supporting the state of Washington in its lawsuit against the Trump administration. The suit is in opposition to an executive order that would temporarily halt the issuance of visas to citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries.

Nearly 100 companies signed the brief when it was filed over the weekend, with a number of major firms missing from the list. Among the companies joining the brief today were Adobe, Bungie, Evernote, HP, Inc., IAC, Slack, SpaceX, Tesla, and Zenefits.

Nicely done, Bungie. Never thought I'd say that without sarcasm again.

Not a big Zelda fan. Only ones I've really played were OoT and WW. Never finished either or even got very far into them. Too hard for a kid who doesn't speak the language.

The Flood / Re: Super Bowl Thread
« on: February 06, 2017, 04:56:32 AM »
Roger Goodell being booed was the best part of this Superbowl

The game itself was good, but football has become boring to me because it's a fucking advertisement throat fucking.
It's Goodell's fault that the NFL has been losing ratings. He puts teams that nobody wants to see during prime time, fines players absurd amount of money for any type of personalization like custom cleats, adding new rules every year that increases Flags being thrown onto the field slowing down game time, and since he's been commissioner there's been an increase in commercials and commercial breaks.
It's retarded, but the NFL has always had so many commercials. It just gets annoying. I used to love it but man, deciding 4 fucking hours for one game is an effort these days.

It's one of the reasons I've gotten dran to soccer. Shorter (an entire 2 hours shorter) and I feel like I'm actually watching a game and not companies trying to figure out how "le funny" they can be for their products.

The commercialism really just turns me off.
Long sports matches are great though. But not when there's hardly even any playing going on.

Don't need or want to. I have a full time job that pays plenty.

It's the reason I get to look down on you all. That and my mod status is what gets me off.

I was going to make a thread about this too. Basically, she downright lied and talked about a massacre as a justification for the travel ban while no such massacre ever occured or was even planned to take place.

To me, it's unbelievable that the American public and officials put up with this kind of shit. Literally how is any of this acceptable?

but to suggest they're anything other than a big commercial success because professional critics didn't like them doesn't make much sense.

Is anyone really saying they were commercial failures though? Forbes did publish a decent article detailing how the earnings don't necessarily indicate a commercial success, but that's about it. It seems clear that everyone is focused on the (decidedly, if not objectively) poor quality of the films and relative failure compared to Marvel.
Oh, I'm not suggesting that people are calling them commercial failures. I'm just responding to the general trend in this thread of "the first 3 movies weren't that good, so if the next one planned is also bad then they're done for". Having your movies receive critical acclaim is a nice bonus, but that's all it is. No superhero movie is going down in history or hopes to win some oscars.

Actual earnings and audience reception is all that really matters to DC. And the fact of the matter remains that the three movies grossed an average of 700+ million dollars each at the box office, which obviously doesn't even account for DVD/bluray sales, toys, apparel and all sorts of related merchandise which is bound to bring in hundreds of millions of dollars on its own.

It's clear that Marvel is doing better commercially, even though I'm not the biggest fan of their movies, but much of this just seems like doomsday thinking to me. DC's movie universe will last until it's no longer sufficiently profitable and even then I don't doubt we'd still the occasional stand-alone DC movie come out. And from what I can tell, it doesn't look like they're slowing down despite the negative criticism.

i mean sure, though you'd probably just be third wheeling it ::)
That's okay, I'll come too.

I'll bring the pita chips and hummus, locally sourced of course.
Way too be the fifth wheel. Now we need a sixth.

The Flood / Re: How much longer is the DCCU going to last

I don't quite get this DCCU meme. I think it's long clear that quality (which is highly subjective here anyways) doesn't always correlate with success. Just look at the music industry where autotuned pop stars twerking on stage are some of the most popular and financially successful musicians of our time.

Suicide Squad: 745 million.
Man of steel: 670 million.
Batman vs Superman: 875 million.

Total: 2.3 billion (and that doesn't even include the additional merchandise like toys, apparel and so on).

These movies earned less than Marvel's most popular, which is probably a result of the kids factor (DC is typically darker for a more mature audience while Marvel targets young children much more), but to suggest they're anything other than a big commercial success because professional critics didn't like them doesn't make much sense. As long as people watch them and audience ratings remain favorable, they'll keep putting out the movies and rake in billions.

yeah what next

soon i'll invent a time machine so i can go back to the day before i turned 21 and start drinking gallons of alcohol
what a madman
and then i'll find a weed, put it in a bowl, and smoke it

is that how it works
I think so. Then you're supposed to take the ashes and put them into a brownie or something.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I can't say Titanfall breakout really excites me too much. I honestly more interested in the bug fixes and patch notes for this update than the actual content

Also the new coliseum map is possibly rivalling 343 for lazy map design
What even is the deal with coliseum? I think I've gotten like 2 tickets for it and haven't used either. I get that it's just a 1v1 mode, but the fact that you need something this rare to even participate in it seems so strange.
