Jumping with a button is going to take some getting used to. I've played the game for like 30 minutes and all but one of my deaths were from falling off the map and just plummeting down trying to remember how to jump back up. Pretty good otherwise though.
can always force yourself to learn the muscle memory by jumping offstage and seeing how far you can recover from in training mode. Also a good way to learn how deep you can go for edgeguards.
Personally, I keep tap jump on to keep my right thumb free, specifically for attacking out of shield. Makes rest oos free as Puff once you nail the up > down-b timing.
What do the pros use?

I'm hoping they'll do some competitive events for DOOM as well. After covering some Quake events for id, I'd love it if they'd ask me to cast DOOM as well.

Sticks sensitivity high and special attack thing on, I suppose?
Switch is looking good so far. Screen's a bit smaller than I expected though, but not a big deal.
i don't know about putting stick sensitivity on high myself, but i suppose you can do what feels comfortable for you
i have it on low, because unwanted fast-falls, dashes, and smash attacks are highly undesirable to me
not sure what you mean by special attack thing honestly
Press A B together for a special move or something, it was in the settings. Doesn't matter though.

I'm also going to try Falco. Apparently he's got crazy potential and I can dig that.
What's the best way to control this thing? You use the thumbstick for jumps or the jump button?
buttons are optimal for jumping, and you'll actually want to head over to the controller options to disable stick jump all together, because it only makes it more difficult to perform up-tilts and up-airs without accidentally jumping
also, if you're gonna learn falco, who has the highest jump in the game, it's gonna be very important for you to know how to short hop, and fortunately, there's a new feature which makes that easier than ever (and a bit more fun, i might add)
hitting the jump + normal attack buttons simultaneously (while tilting the stick for the desired aerial, as normal) will allow you to perform short hop aerials, a fairly indispensable technique that will give you an edge in neutral
practice short hop aerials out of shield (OoS) in situations where your opponent is on your ass, or short hop up-airs if your opponent is on a platform above you and is looking vulnerable
without this technique, falco's high-ass jumps will make it extremely difficult for you to hit your mark in any situation, and being high up in the air is a disadvantageous state in general
I understood like half of that but I'll keep the short hopping in mind, thanks.

Say I want Marth and Mewtwo to play with, how would I unlock them best?

Alright, I'll probably give one of the sword guys a try first then. Is the screen 60hz to match the 60fps of some games? I assume so but can't find info on this anywhere.

yet, so i'm not sure about that one
in terms of what you should "aim" for, are there any characters you want to play in particular? i can tell you the fastest way to unlock them
I don't even know. I liked Samus and Fox in the original one but haven't really played since. What are good characters in different styles? And what about my other questions?

And what's the battery life on this thing? Can I charge it from a powerbank with USB? It's entirely handheld, right, but then comes with a dock you connect to a TV with HDMI?

Also, the standard controller will do fine, right? It's not a pro one but I assume the things that come with the Switch will be servicable for Mario Kart and Smash, at least for some casual play

Just bought a Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Smash because I'm flying to Texas in a few days.
What should I have as a goal for this game? Like, how do I unlock new stuff? Anything I should try to aim for?

So can we start recruiting Tumblerds to migrate here?
You really want nazis and SJWs here? I rather recruit all the porn artists that won’t have a platform anymore
They still have Deviantart
You can't post sexual content on DA, only nudity.
Are you implying that a gay genderswapped dragon swallowing a pregnant Sonic OC isn't the peak of sexual content?

Who would've thought. Brexit is such an appalling mistake and it should be ditched asap.
Also, the ECJ Advocate General has let on that the UK can unilaterally stop Brexit by just rescinding their invocation of article 50. Holding the door open in case you guys want to come back.
Shouldn't they honor the first referendum by leaving first?
No.
So what happens now? Ignore the will of the people? This how we preserve faith in our democratic system?
Ideally, we treat the referendum for what it was: purely advisory, non-binding and never intended to shackle the government to what a miniscule majority favored. The will of the people can also change. People voted on a pipe dream of what Brexit might be and how it would pan out. Those who voted Remain all wanted the exact same and very concrete thing. Those who voted Leave are a basket case of people who all have a different view of what Brexit should be. Some want a complete no deal severance of all ties with Europe. Others want to remain in the Single Market with limitless trading, or to adopt one of the many other types of arrangements (Canada / USA / Norway / Switzerland style...), or only to stop people from freely moving and working in the UK, or a million other things. There's thousands of people who are going "well, I wanted to leave the EU but not like that - that's a terrible idea and not worth it". It's like someone saying they just want to get rid of their special membership card at the local supermarket and then be told afterwards that this also means they'll be banned from the store entirely. Your hardcore Brexiter might say "if we're leaving on those terms and maintain a trade relationship with the EU, then we're just following their rules without having a say in them - that's an even worse situation than what we had before, fuck it", while your mild Leaver might have the opposite opinion and say "woah, I wanted out of the EU bureaucracy but not if it meant we'd have to close our entire border and miss out on billions in trade with the EU, fuck that". It's not really the will of the people when you force them to deal in absolutes and make a simple yes/no decision on an incredibly complex topic they likely don't even fully understand the consequences of and don't even know what the outcome will look like. It's like being asked to choose between a free holiday abroad (sounds great!) or just staying at home, when choosing the first unexpectedly has you travel 3 days in the back of a garbage truck to get to a grimy motel in the shittiest part of another country. Had you known that the free trip would be like that, you would've never agreed to it. It's hardly the people's will when it relates to a topic they've been fed dozens of lies, empty promises and misleading propaganda about. It's no longer informed, accurate or truthful at that point. And this is by far the best way to keep faith in our democratic system. There's a reason we more or less ditched direct democracy. Specialization is a cornerstone of societal and economic development and progress. The more complicated stuff gets, the less we can all be experts at everything. It's why instead of every household learning how to make its own crappy shoes, baskets, houses and food, we now have people who specialize and excel at all these things so that we trade our skills for the best results. Same thing applies here. We can't all be experts with years of experience and degrees in trade, diplomacy, law, science, environmental policy, economics, healthcare and so on, which is why we elected people who share our values but do know these things to represent us and make informed, beneficial and smart decisions based on our votes. Brexit is a horrible mistake and that's becoming more obvious by the day. Asking John Doe who couldn't even tell you what the EU is and who's oblivious to the fact that it subsidizes more than half his agricultural business to make a huge decision after reading bold lies in the Sun about how Europe is going to make Juncker the new King of England is insane, and then following up on it over the tiniest minority is even more so.

I don't like this meme.
Thing is, these are serious people with years of experience and degrees.
They claim however that there is no link between CO2 and any changes to the climate. For example:
Serious people with degrees can still say and believe the dumbest stuff. Ben Carson is an accomplished neurosurgeon who truly believes that the biblical Joseph build the Egyptian pyramids by himself to store grain in. The guy in the video is a physican. That's it. He's not an expert on anything related to climate change or the environment. His arguments are misleading and cherry-picked shit, and the same goes for the article in Forbes (which is notorious for posting pseudo-scientific BS on topics that favor big corporations). This explains why. Also, don't be so easily persuaded by fancy titles. The "ICCC" isn't the IPCC (the actual panel on climate change) even though they're clearly trying to pretend there's a connection. The "International Climate Change Convention" is nothing official and has no legitimacy. I could start my own Intergovernmental Conference for Climate Science tomorrow and it would be as real as this one. It's organized by the Heartland Institute (which, among others, also campaigns in favor of cigarettes and conducts research into how they're actually good for you) that's received millions of dollars from oil companies. Same thing goes for titles and credentials. An MD, PhD, Dr... doesn't mean anything if it's in a different field. tl;dr everything he said is BS.

Why would they suddenly decide to sanitize their platform of something that isn't inherently wrong when they never had an issue with it before?
because they're now being pulled from the app store for it
weird because twitter has porn on it and so does reddit
They weren’t removed for porn, according to apple they were hosting actual child porn.
Full blown CP? Not just loli shit? How would they even allow that to happen?
My guess is poor moderation, but I don't know for sure, I wasn't using tumblr often.
They don't. Their filters just missed stuff. Everything uploaded to Tumblr goes through a hash check which compares the image or video to a database of illegal content. A match doesn't even get uploaded. Problem is that these databases are limited and things slip past the filters, which was revealed by an audit of the site.

Looks like I'm probably meeting Leffen tomorrow then.
make sure to tell him at least one of these things
- hbox is the savior of melee - puff is honest/hype - fox is cancer - fox beats marth - that he is living proof that you can be a top player and a fucking scrub simultaneously
I don't know what half of that is about so I'll probably just shake his hand and get back to Quake. What's the deal with him?
