I like how when I enter this thread, I get an advertisement about monitors and displays.

I'd agree, if people couldn't be dangerous with their own fists.
Pretty big difference between the lethality and effectiveness of someone's fists and a gun, though.

How is that ridiculous, exactly?
I personally don't feel that just about everyone should be allowed to carry guns in public. I don't think the general public can or should be trusted to be responsible with that kind of power.

I'm still curious how to max the volume.
At least, I thought this was something you could do. I'm currently in class, so I can't exactly go around messing with the volume of my media player. I'll look into it later.

VLC can play more filetypes, unless I'm just missing codecs for MPC
Yeah, you need the CCCP for the full effect.

and it has the bonus of the max volume.
Pretty sure you can do the same in MPC, just not by simply adjusting the slider to 200% as VLC does.

Either way, I use both interchangably. The main advantage VLC has to me is its ability to watch streams and such.

The Flood / Re: Actually Hearing Your Real Voice
« on: October 06, 2014, 03:26:51 AM »
Everyone hates their own voice being played back to them. I've been told it's due to recording distortion and the fact that we hear our voice fuller and deeper than others do because of resonance in our own head and whatnot, giving people the impression that what they're hearing is foreign, weird and not at all in line with the impression they have of themselves. It's science stuff.

MPC, a media player nearly as good as VLC.
Nearly as good? MPC-HC is superior to VLC.

Seems like several parties were somewhat at fault here.

Walmart should not have left that gun out like that, even if it was just a BB gun.
The guy should've known better than walking around with it like that. Even if it isn't an actual gun, it sure looks like one, which is something he should've kept into consideration.
The police should not have been this trigger happy. It's hard to judge from a blurry security camera filming something at a poor angle like this, but seems like this could've been dealt with differently.

And of course, this is something that wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for the ridiculousness of publicly carrying firearms and US gun culture.

That's a pretty bad list tbh, he's just going out of his way to find graphical bugs on the campaign. Reach has its issues, but these aren't them.

Hard to say. Going by some of the other posts:

Beat every CoD game on veteran, got 1000/1000Gs for CoD 4 (Mile High Club, yo), WaW, MW2.
100% Dark Souls 1 and 2.
Got some acceptable speedrun times on Dark Souls 1, including some challenge runs (DS1 SL1 all bosses).
Killed a DS1 Giant Dad (legend never dies tho) by parrying him 4 times in a row.
Ranked in the top 50 best players on Black Ops FFA.
Top 10 on W: ET Splatterladder.
Mr Men 1337 Gamma backwards.

Serious / Re: "Don't judge a religion by its fundamentalists"
« on: October 06, 2014, 02:52:24 AM »
Below is an exerpt of some contradictions in the bible. I think we can all agree that holy scriptures are incoherent and contradictive to the point that even fundamentalism is nothing but picking and choosing what you want to believe, while completely ignoring or willingly misinterpreting the verses that stray from your beliefs.

I personally feel that a religion should be judged on its own merits and weaknesses, not those of the people who practice it. The reverse applies too, though. The religious should be judged and assessed on a person-by-person basis. There's a whole lot of hateful, intolerant and oppresive people of all religions and beliefs;

Serious / Re: Cop Shoots Man as He Complies
« on: October 06, 2014, 02:31:10 AM »
This can hardly be justified. One could argue that by not responding and just reaching back inside the vehicle, the cop may have been under the impression that he was reaching for a gun. Seems pretty clear that this is not the case though, and that the cop acted way out of line.

We like to tell big stories and we want people to put the Destiny universe on the same shelf they put Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter or Star Wars

What excites me is a number of years ago we talked with Activision and Activision believed in that vision, and that's why we like this partnership so much; these guys know big entertainment as well. They prove it over and over again

At a quick glance, someone watching Destiny may think it looks quite similar to Halo, but the game's focus on social connectivity takes the experience another step beyond Halo. It's really just an evolution of what Bungie set out to do as far back as Marathon. It's ultimately in Bungie's DNA.
Makes me wonder whether he's just flatout lying or if these people are actually delusional enough to fall for their own bullshit.

I used to play the piano. I still can, but it's been a few years without practice.
Same here, but I only know how to make a basic chord still.
Seems like I was a little more advanced than you. I've played Mozart, Beethoven and whatnot. Even performed at my school at one point, but I never really liked it.

Does the Multiplayer even work yet? I keep getting can't find any games when I go into matchmaking.
Not for me, at least. Tried for another 10 minutes without success today, at two different times of the day even. I beat the singleplayer and got all of the (possible) achievements, so I'm deleting the game of my hard drive tomorrow.
