I'm pretty much done with Bungie. After Marty and their newfound disregard for the community, I just can't bring myself to care anymore.

I swear to god, though, Activision marketers are fucking FLOODING /v/ with Destiny threads.

We shouldn't be asking God why children are starving. God should be asking us why we allow such a thing to happen.
Why does god allow us to allow it? We're certainly trying not to have starving children. He should give us a little help.

Why are we hating on this guy again?

He wasn't a legislator, and he was fully within his rights to close his business when he damn well pleased.
free speech is bad when lobbying groups disagree with you
Nobody is saying he can't believe what he wants, just that he's an asshole for it.
except for the hundreds of people boycotting his business
Including me. I haven't given CFA a nickel in years, specifically because of their work against LGBT equality.

The Cathy family can hold whatever beliefs they want, and have the First Amendment right to express those beliefs. That doesn't mean I don't think they're terrible people. They've lost a customer for life.

Relevant:

You're punishing their business and it's workers because the family votes the wrong way. It's totally legal of course,  as it should be, but don't act like it follows the ideals of free speech to punish someone economically for using it, just because it's people doing it rather than an institution.

I think Tom Cruise and John Travolta are loons but I don't punish the people who work with them by boycotting their projects.

It runs counter to free speech and market competition.

From now on it will only appear once a month, and it only lasts through the weekend.

Why?
Got to have time for me to shitpost on the Flood
Or stack up on Shitposts, Porn and whatnot, then unleash them when Anarchy starts.
In anarchy they get drowned out

When every post is a shitpost, nobody pays attention to quality.

Thinking of doing a new Skyrim run to accompany my new Morrowind run

On MW I'm playing a Nord in medium armor who uses long blades and drain health spells in combat. Uses Alteration and Illusion for travel/utility, and restoration to heal.

In Skyrim, probably a Dunmer or Nord in light armor, using 2H weapons, Destruction, and Conjuration for combat. I've installed mods that make it wintery and snowy across all of skyrim, and I'm thinking of adding some survival mods.

Serious / Alright bitches, let's have a good ol' God debate
« on: September 08, 2014, 01:03:27 AM »
First let's set the ground rules of this discussion.

Let's say:
There is a single god
This god is the same deity described in Christianity (for familiarity's sake)
god is all-poweful, all-knowing, all-seeing, and all-loving

Explain to me how an all-loving god can allow rape to occur, and don't just give me "muh free will".

Allowing the rapist to succeed is violating the free will of the victim.

To intervene and, say, allow a cop to be alerted to the situation would not interfere with anyone's free will.

Quote
Well if God is all-knowing, He will know what happens if He draws a particular person.
If God see that drawing that person to Him, will only bring harm to others, then is God being unfair by not drawing that person?

OR, perhaps if He draws not Person A, but Person B.
Because drawing Person A will yield no results,
while drawing Person B will get Person C saved.
Fine, find a way to explain this to me that doesn't have god picking and choosing who he draws for arbitrary bullshit reasons.

Wait, do people seriously think Obama is one of the worst presidents in US history?
if Bush is one of the worst, then Obama should be just above him.

They're essentially the same president, minus the theocracy

Yes, most cultures and groups have their own beliefs on deities and/or afterlife, but I'm talking specifically about the Christian God.
If we're talking specifically about the Abrahamic God, then yes I agree.

If we're assuming the Bible was never written, a very similar God would've likely developed in its stead. If the Bible were erased from history now, no other similar God would likely be invented.

>implying God was invented
So why is your God the "real" one, and not the literally hundreds of other gods that people have believed in throughout history?
Because unlike Religions, I don't just worship my god, I fellowship with Him.
You can't have fellowship if there is only 1 person.

"Taste and see that the Lord is good."
Until you've done that, you'll never know what is true.
None of that really supports your argument.
Yes it does.
Worshipping an image doesn't make it a God.

But if that image responds.....

I don't worship an image. I worship a God who has made Himself known in my life. You haven't experienced the same, and so you don't believe the same as me. That's fine.

But if you had, you wouldn't have a doubt in your mind that there is a God. He's made it blatantly obvious for me many times.

He has done what all other Gods have failed to do: respond
..and your proof of communicating with God is...?

How do you know it's the Christian God? How do you know it isn't Ra the Sun God? Or Odin? Did they tell you who they were?

You miss the point when it comes to God's existence: every time you ask for proof.
There isn't proof you will accept. Because proving God destroys faith, so realistically God wouldn't allow Himself to be proven to the world.

Now, since I have fellowshipped with God for around 6 years, I've got a really good look into His character.
The personality I've paid witness to; both physically and spiritually, lined up with the Characteristics of the Christian God.

For one: if you worship a non-existent God, it isn't going to grace you with it's prescence.
I have only worshipped Jesus, and He has never failed to respond.

When His Spirit came to me in my times of suffering, or simply a time of worship, I didn't feel shame.
I didn't feel disgusting or sinful or wrong, because when God Himself is in the room with you:
you, for a moment, completely forget about yourself.
So, in your mind, anyone who God doesn't make his presence known to is screwed for all eternity, right?

In short: Yes.

John 6:44
"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day

But here is where things get tricky: why does God draw some and not others?
Doesn't EVERY PERSON deserve a chance?

Well if God is all-knowing, He will know what happens if He draws a particular person.
If God see that drawing that person to Him, will only bring harm to others, then is God being unfair by not drawing that person?

OR, perhaps if He draws not Person A, but Person B.
Because drawing Person A will yield no results,
while drawing Person B will get Person C saved.
What you're essentially saying is that god isn't revealing himself to me, and in essence saving me from hell, because if I were to not go to hell, bad things would happen?

Your god sounds like a loser who can't do his fucking job. He's fucking god, why should things be so convoluted?

Oh, right, because we're making up ideas about god using rules pulled from our sphincters.
