The mask would be useful if you were to smoke or gas someone.
It's actually really dangerous in a smoky situation. It would restrict and limit your breathing. There's a reason firefighters use air tanks rather than gas masks.

Just don't. I don't care if a guy on some forum or seller said one finnish model or whatever is safe- it isn't.
There are adapters to use modern civilian filters on these kinds of masks, but that's fucking retarded too. These things don't protect you from anything more than tear gas. So unless you're planning on doing some rioting soon, don't bother.
If you want protection, buy a modern, commercial gas mask from a reputable company. This will be very expensive. But it will also actually work.
If you want to play dress up and go innawoods or cosplay, I would recommend just not using a filter.

It's a weapon. Legally carrying a weapon in modern society in public is a privilege.
The only reason you need it is specifically to use it on other people. "I want to shoot beer cans in my backyard" isn't "walking around armed". Read my posts more carefully.
That's not a privelige fam. Again, my property, my person, I can do what I damn well please with them so long as it doesn't affect others or violate their property or persons. Now if we're talking about publicly owned land? Like a national park or government building? Yeah, there's a debate to be had about what rules can or can't be set for those spaces based on a democratic discussion. In general, though, it's my shit and I'll do what I want with it.

Jeffrey Dahmer was also largely "unarmed" when he murdered his victims. The prerequisite for committing a crime does not require you to carry a gun.
Because someone benign armed with a firearm shooting someone completely unarmed makes a very big difference in a court of law. There's no emotion about it, it's the legality of it.
If I shoot the OP in self defense because he was pulling a pistol on me, it's not likely I'd be sent to prison for murder or manslaughter. If I shoot the OP in self defense while he was just running at me unarmed, things start getting a lot trickier and I'm much more likely to be charged with some degree of murder for not exhausting any other options.
Things that don't fall in line with your narrative aren't all appeals to emotion, I'm afraid.
Shooting an unarmed person who is in the process of physically assaulting you with no clear way of knowing his intent isn't tricky at all.
It really is depending on which state you live in. And depending on the judge and jury.
Oh then yeah. In Florida and most of the south though it's fairly clear cut AFAIK.
