Serious / Re: Why do we need political correctness?

Because if anything this age of entitlement has done anything but.

Why do we continue to label one generation as entitled when past generations have been as bad, if not worse?

Another question to pose.
This TBH

Boomers are the ones who ushered in an age of unsustainable democratic socialist politics.

Merkel won, so at least they didn't pick one of the idiotic choices.

Bagdadhi was runner up followed by Trump though.
GG all round really.
I can live with this. I like Trump's placement, too. He's not that relevant outside of the US yet, a lot of people seem to forget that.

None, without personal motivation. There is little I can't do if I really care, but I don't generally care.

Yep, I got my first katana, the 'battle ready' Practical Elite.

I ordered it from sword buyer's guide after checking the review (below), and seeing that it has a reduced price at the SBG store (About $210 US, $235 Canadian after conversion)

I'll hopefully be doing some tests (ones that work well anyhow) to show how sharp this thing is.

Serious / Re: For somebody who worships the constitution
« on: December 08, 2015, 03:25:34 PM »
The constitution is not great but it's there for  a reason- it's a way to hold back the inevitable waves of bullshit created by Democracy. The Constitution was designed by the founders to be the only thing standing between minorities and abusive majoritarian rule.

Their mistake, as we today can see with our gift of hindsight, was allowing any wiggle room at all. The Constitution's protective armor has been peeled back a little more every year, and with dangerous populists like Trump and Sanders taking the lead in this election, we may not be far from the complete implementation of mob rule.

The founders thought democracy was workable with some limitations. I respect their optimism and cautious faith in human nature, but the very nature of democracy makes it unworkable in the long-term. I don't blame them for their mistake, but I do wish it could be corrected.

what is your suggested system?
N/A

ah

well in the absence of perfection we kinda have to do the best we can, and democracy is the least shitty apple in the pile of pig shit.
Calling something as damaging as democracy the "best" is ridiculous. It's hardly the most stable political system, and even its biggest selling point, its claim to moral superiority, is outright bullshit.

Yeah, you could have sex with a person infected with HIV if that was your best possible lay, but it'd still be stupid and self-destructive.

Real though Al-Baghdadi should win.

This is about who has been most influential, not shilling for our favorite celebs.
People can be pretty stupid and will just see this as a glorification of him.

I don't think it's a good idea to give "Person of the Year" to the leader of ISIS.

What was I suppose to get out of that?
Hitler himself was a person of the year.

This has never been about glorification and the public understands that.

Yeah, but will isis see it like that?
isis can read?

Worrying how people have no idea who Rouhani is.
He's SO MUCH better than Ahmadinejad. Probably why nobody talks about him- nobody wants to hear a good story about Iran.

The Flood / The Scorpion and the Frog
« on: December 08, 2015, 08:00:04 AM »
One day, a scorpion looked around at the mountain where he lived and decided that he wanted a change. So he set out on a journey through the forests and hills. He climbed over rocks and under vines and kept going until he reached a river.

The river was wide and swift, and the scorpion stopped to reconsider the situation. He couldn't see any way across. So he ran upriver and then checked downriver, all the while thinking that he might have to turn back.

Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river. He decided to ask the frog for help getting across the stream.

"Hellooo Mr. Frog!" called the scorpion across the water, "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?"

"Well now, Mr. Scorpion! How do I know that if I try to help you, you wont try to kill me?" asked the frog hesitantly.

"Because," the scorpion replied, "If I try to kill you, then I would die too, for you see I cannot swim!"

Now this seemed to make sense to the frog. But he asked. "What about when I get close to the bank? You could still try to kill me and get back to the shore!"

"This is true," agreed the scorpion, "But then I wouldn't be able to get to the other side of the river!"

"Alright then...how do I know you wont just wait till we get to the other side and THEN kill me?" said the frog.

"Ahh...," crooned the scorpion, "Because you see, once you've taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to reward you with death, now would it?!"

So the frog agreed to take the scorpion across the river. He swam over to the bank and settled himself near the mud to pick up his passenger. The scorpion crawled onto the frog's back, his sharp claws prickling into the frog's soft hide, and the frog slid into the river. The muddy water swirled around them, but the frog stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly through the first half of the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current.

Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from the frog's back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs.

"You fool!" croaked the frog, "Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?"

The scorpion shrugged, and did a little jig on the drownings frog's back.

"I could not help myself. It is my nature."

Then they both sank into the muddy waters of the swiftly flowing river.
