Employers will do so in a labour market of which is saturated with higher education. That's a bad thing?
More jobs for everyone?
No, that means no jobs for people without degrees.
...But wouldn't a much larger number of people have degrees in a country with free tuition?
Yes.
You seem confused here. More people with degrees does not mean more jobs for them. More people with degrees means more people competing for those jobs that already required degrees, and the potential for degrees to become the new minimum for entry in fields that were previously accessible without them.
I am confused- I'm very ignorant about how all of this works, I just want everybody to receive a good education, because I believe everyone is entitled to accessible knowledge.
The right way to approach that, then, would be to work on improving public education at the K-12 level. But in regards to what you said, I'm not sure I understand how that's a bad thing. Now you have a bunch more people educated- albeit the minimum threshold for certain positions and requirements has risen. Doesn't that just mean that things are still going to be better for everyone overall, but the mechanics of how education relates to employment has just sort of "Elevated?"
Is it the progress meme that's fucking you up? A more educated populace is a good thing, yes. However, our labor market operates in a way that judges people based on their experience and training. A degree represents a desirable level of training in whatever career field. There are only so many jobs to be done by degree-holders, and many more jobs that do not require higher education. By just moving more potential skilled laborers to the educated laborer segment of the populace, you are making the labor market for the educated fields more competitive and difficult. When you have a bunch of BAs who work in retail or restaurants because they can't get a job in an over-saturated field, all that money and education is wasted. It also hurts the lowest rung of the populace, who are for whatever reason too poor or stupid to get the less-expensive higher education, because they now have to compete with overqualified graduates who will be far more appealing to potential employers.

Oh.
I mean, call me stupid, but I feel like education is, like, more important.
There are very few things you can tell me that will convince me making sure everybody receives a good opportunity to be educated is a bad idea. But again, this is far from my area of expertise, and I'm sure Meta's gonna throw a bunch of rhetoric at me that's gonna fly over my head because I don't know shit about the complexities of university education and however the hell it fits into politics or economics.
you'll also hear pretty often from these people that college, or any higher education, is not necessarily required for you to have a career--when, of course, it basically is
Right, so think how fucking hard it will be to find a job when the labor market is flooded with BAs. i mean, the highest paying jobs in this country that you do not need a college degree for are all extremely dangerous (like working in oil fields), and... that's pretty much what you got And they will likely pay even better to attract workers if need be. These jobs will always pay a lot because they are dangerous but need to be done. it's either that, or working in the evil, scumfuck, dead-end food industry
so, personally, i wouldn't call it a choice--you need a college degree
But that's fucking bullshit. There are shitloads of options. Military, which will fucking pay for college, being the most obvious. Everybody can't be an accountant or nurse.

I like how you list Kurd and terrorist as if they're distinct.
One of the two biggest Kurd factions is made up of Marxist terrorists

College for All: Sen. Sanders has proposed making public colleges and universities tuition-free and substantially reducing student debt, in a plan that would cost about $75 billion a year. Please please please
>implying it will retroactively pay for your college >implying it won't cost you money and devalue the education you paid for o i am laffin

Oscars have gone to black actresses and actors plenty of times before. There really weren't many worthy performances this year. The notion of nominating a Star Wars actor is laughable.
You should always expect to see whites over-represented in the acting field. Specifically, Jewish whites, too. There are just way more white roles than black roles.
You could get into why that is, but it is the state of things.

Isn't an elected monarch an oxymoron? I thought one of the main points about monarchs was it was a hereditary title.
Regardless, I'd be interested in reading about this. Sounds interesting.
its not a hard and fast thing; it just so happens that a massive collection of historical monarchs played by that rule. its the precedent, but not a necessary aspect at the core of things.
What are the 'requirements' for being a monarch, then? I'm curious.
i guess it would depend on who you ask. id say a government exists under a monarchy when there is a single, sovereign head of state, someone who holds more power than any other agencies or entities within the government and cannot be overridden by them after the monarch has made a decision. how the monarch gets to that position is of little consequence to me.
What would differentiate that from a dictatorship?
Divine or historical right to rule vs rule through domination comes to mind

Currently reading about the Roman Kingdom, and Livy describes a sort of electoral system used for monarchs. Obviously this is likely inaccurate, the Roman kingdom is largely legendary and there is little we actually know about it, but the idea is interesting.
I can post Livy's full description when I get out of class if anyone is interested.
