Explain how it's worse than anything else.
People are fucking dumb. People have dumb fucking ideas. More people in the political process means more dumb shit.

People are fucking greedy. Allowing dumbfuck randoms to choose who handles state finances and policy ensures that democracy can be steered by populists who buy votes from the most influential or populous wings of society.

Not saying anything else is very good. Everything is awful. A man can only ever reach personal transcendence, the masses are and always have been lost.

democracy is a great system really guys it sometimes works

The best part of the presidential election is that the popular vote doesn't mean jack shit.
The elections are still basically steered by public opinion. Things have to be very close for the majority's favored candidate not to win.

It could, if we just implemented instant-runoff voting, thereby eliminating the two-party system.
Nah, it's pretty shit in the places that use that system, too.

That would require people to weigh more than two options, though. Which requires critical thought and research.

Guess I'm moving from Bernie to Hillary. It's time to be realistic, in order for another "Bernie" to win in 2024 we have to keep up the left movement. Which can only be done with a progressive democrat.

Even I have to admit Surpat is one of the best modern camos.

It's also perfect for my home region, the sandhills. The ground level has lots of whitish sand and light brown bark, with some green (tan for part of the year) scrub and there. The canopy is a light green, but it's pretty high off the ground for most of our pine trees and doesn't really factor into concealment.

But it hasn't prevented any deaths or injuries, as far as we know.
If we did know, it wouldn't be working very well.
Fair enough.

Nothing is really worth my autonomy. And that's what personal armament is, to me. It's the difference between being a subject and a citizen.

Legitimate, non-bait question: at what point, if any, do you believe your right to own a gun ends,
When I pose a credible and imminent threat to the life of another person.
Quote
and the responsibility of the government to protect its citizens from gun deaths begins?
That begins where its other protective responsibilities begin. Gun death isn't more of an outrage than other kinds of violent death. The state should work to cut down violence before it reaches a point where the particular implements of violence matter. Frankly, I don't think violence is something a secular state can fight alone. Cultural institutions, particularly religious ones, must play a role. It won't much matter that you've taken the guns away if you still have an angry and violent populace. Offensive force must become the most appalling crime before you can really fight gun violence, or any violence.

Stoicism is cool as fuck but literally everyone who claims to subscribe to it is just a pleb fag doing it for the aesthetics.

It's the philosophical equivalent of that time Verb called himself an ascetic.

As long as it's closed to all but law enforcement, I see no issue with one.

Illegal weapons start legal somewhere. If we want to know where they're leaking in, we have to know where the holes are. Police need to know the chain of custody between factory and theft/sale.

I don't think a public registry is a good idea, but a private one for ATF/FBI and local law enforcement? That's a good idea.
Like I said though, it already exists, at least on a federal level, even if nobody wants to admit it. But it hasn't prevented any deaths or injuries, as far as we know.

It's just a pseudoscientific approach to humanity's inherent tribalism.

1829
Real though, they wouldn't. I don't intend to make it clear to anyone, especially online, what I own. I'll give up everything officer. Here it is, every last one. I don't want no trouble. That's all of it.

Assume the consequences of illegal gun ownership would be severe enough to persuade you to hand them over. Is there anything you'd consider an equitable exchange, or would you be dissatisfied no matter what?
Nothing is really worth my autonomy. And that's what personal armament is, to me. It's the difference between being a subject and a citizen.
Being armed to the standard of the day is extremely liberating and empowering for an individual. When I was younger, I would hear a bump in the night or a shuffle outside and get scared, hoping I was just hearing things. As an armed adult, I don't have to worry about that anymore. I may start to worry, but I need only glance over to my closet to remember that I now have the capacity to deal with anything that threatens me or my family. I can't take my rifle to school with me, but knowing that my brother or my mother know where it is and how to use it, should the need arise, brings me serious peace of mind. There is something extremely comforting about that. It's worth more than all the money in the world to me.
