The Flood / Re: If you thought this* was the moral option

it's almost like some ideas are better at propagating themselves than others, similar to natalism.
they're better at propagating themselves because they generally are better

obviously, there are exceptions, but generally speaking, the best ideas tend to win
Ideological Darwinism

These memes just got spicy

this is where our core difference is, i think--

i subscribe to a theory of collective gestalt consciousness
you do not, for some reason--because it's inconvenient for you to have the correct outlook

once you have the correct outlook, you get moral obligations--and those are burdensome, so you ignore them and claim they don't exist at all
I think it's intellectually dishonest to tell someone he doesn't believe what he professes for the reasons he gives, but rather for some other reason that happens to be frowned on.

At best it's dodging the argument. At worst it is deep arrogance.

I could just as easily accuse you or Class of clinging to the idea of inherent and self-evident morality because you're afraid of the implications of a truly godless universe. But I won't, because I'm not you and I can't read your minds.

But why should I care if a million (let's just say anonymous) people die, versus one or ten anonymous people?

Or let's say suffer horribly.

Also rights don't exist as anything more than a social construct.
And the piece of toast in front of me doesn't exist as anything more than a conglomeration of molecules.
What the fuck does that even mean

Also if you're going to align with a faction either side with the BoS or the Institute. No spoilers but they're the only factions with genuine substance to their storyline's. The Minutemen are just a gameplay framework for settlement building and The Railroad has a shitty pay off. I made the mistake of siding with the latter only because I wanted to keep their companion. Next character I roll will be faithful to Elder "purge the mutant" Maxson.
I got just far enough to team up with the Paladin at the Police station and do a few quests for his crew.

From the dialogue I've heard it sounds like the Railroad are a bunch of SJW fags, and the Institute are straight up evil. Robots are not people. Like damn nigga you wouldn't pretend the Terminator is a person would you?

Also I didn't enjoy the settlement bullshit much. It felt like Hearthfire in that it was boring and stupid.

Saddam kept order in the middle east.
Yeah just like when he invaded Iran at America's bidding.
Fuck America man during that war they were arming both sides.
They literally gave Saddam chemicals weapons and were like we didn't he was actually going to use it
lmao bro come on you know how it is brah

had to be sure the right side won, so we just made both sides the right side xD lmaooo

Those expensive houses and million dollar cars aren't gonna buy themselves.

Dude come on the only way rich people contribute to society is through taxes mandatory donations.

They don't do manual labor so you know they aren't REALLY contributing.
And the property taxes on those things aren't gonna pay themselves.

Or the cost of the products going back to support their respective industries.

Or the taxes paid by the companies that sold the products.

Or the paychecks going to the workers who contribute their labor to these industries.

If Verb is willing to have a middle ground, 25% is a bit low, but no one should have half their income taken away.

why don't you like fallout 3 again

if it's strictly for story reasons then lmao
Gameplay is mediocre
Aesthetically displeasing
Horrible misinterpretation of Fallout's humor style
Horrible retcon of Fallout setting lore for the sake of jamming recognizable elements together into the same game.

Fallout 3 feels like a caricature of Fallout based on the surface elements and trends a thirteen year old picked up on when he played Fallout 1&2. Enclave, super mutants, muh lazerz, muh dark humor lmao gore is funny

1432
I'm kind of hesitant to even call it an RPG let alone a Fallout game.

>dialogue wheel that's somehow actually worse than Bioware's
>no Karma
>minimal ""choices""
>no faction reputations so you have no idea where you stand with each faction

It's a serviceable game but to call it an RPG is an insult to the RPG genre. Bethesda took a complete nosedive into casualized territory and seem to be more interested in developing sandbox games now rather than choice orientated RPGs.
I agree.

But I blame the market as much as Bethesda. Everybody is pulling the sandbox muh open world bullshit these days.

Remove EVs and make Natures purely cosmetic flavor text.

I mean It wasn't great. But I can't really say what I played of it was as bad as Fallout 3.

Some positives-
>Gameplay is more challenging. Most enemies feel genuinely threatening now.
>Power armor is extremely satisfying to use
>VATS is more fun
>Combat feels great. Fallout 4's shooting mechanics are very well fleshed out.
>Weapon and armor customization are really fun and I could sink hours into it.

I think the reason I was able to enjoy ir was because I wasn't thinking of F4 as a Fallout game when I played it. It is only Fallout in the most minimal and insignificant ways.

Which is actually a wonderful thing. Bethesda can't make Fallout games for beans, but they made a pretty okay game here. Sure, the writing is dumb, and a voiced protagonist was an awful idea, but I don't go to Bethesda for good writing and solid RPG elements anymore.

I haven't finished the game, but so far I'm more pleased than I thought I'd be.

Serious / Re: North Carolina Bathroom Bill
« on: April 18, 2016, 09:56:54 AM »
Tbh I think McCrory knows everyone in this state is tired of his shit and the NC Republicans won't be in charge for long.

So they're just blowing the last of their political capital on meme-tier bills just for the hell of it.

Around the same time the bathroom bill passed, another one went through basically telling cops to ticket anyone going even 1 over the speed limit. Now that's downright unamerican.

1437
I really hope this gets more publicity.

Any politician who votes against this is basically a confirmed shill.

One of the last nations allowed to get away with ethnic nationalism, and the only one where it is encouraged by the international community.

I'm not starting on /pol/ "multiculturalism for them, nationalism for us" conspiracy shit, but it is a silly double standard.

No country on earth could get away with what Israel does without general condemnation, let alone gain support.
