I straight up told her she's fucking nuts and that burning some candles and reciting some bullshit doesn't make things happen.

Voting third-party is pretty dumb.
Unfortunately third-party candidates will never get farther than Ralph Nader did in 2000, and those votes could have gone to Al Gore.
Any third party that gets at least 5% of the ballot on election day will receive more representation for the following campaign. Federal funding, equal ballot access, a spot on the debate stage, etc.
That said, if you're going to vote for a third party, actually pick someone good. Like Jill Stein.
