The Flood / Re: For the ones here who listen to Tool

No, you've just chosen to ignore the reasons WHY it isn't metal. Music theory reasons, which apply to all music and how they fall into genres. You know, like I tried to explain about classical genres?
yeah, and you sucked the big one at that, too

you're the only person i know who can say stuff like "some classical music isn't classical music"

be right back, i'm gonna go listen to some metal music
like tool

No, you're just too retarded to understand it seems. I never said "some classical music isn't classical", I said "some classical music will be completely different from other classical music". You really love twisting words.
In a fun little word game, we can actually say that most classical music isn't classical.

You see, the first classical refers casually to the big umbrella of western classical music, and the latter one refers specifically to the classical period.

For those interested, the bill passed through the House earlier by a vote of 214-212: Not a single Democrat supported it.

Slated for a Senate vote later.
I bet C-SPAN is about as entertaining right now as it ever gets.

But it's different from a burger, and especially different from an open face sandwich, which I argue isn't even a sandwich at all.
if it's not a sandwich, but it has "sandwich" in its name, it's called a misnomer
i don't know what an open face sandwich is, so i'll ignore that example

i consider burgers sandwiches too.

what i'm getting from this is that you people just don't like speaking in broad terms when it comes to music.
...i do. i don't see why it's even a big deal

^an open face tuna sandwich
Arguably, from my standpoint, not a sandwich.

THEY ARE NOT, THAT'S WHY THERE ARE SUBGENRES.

Did you not read the rest of the post explaining how or why? THE CORE OF MUSICAL THEORY IS BASED AROUND GENRES AND THE STRUCTURE OF MUSIC AND IS EXACTLY WHY CLASSICAL MUSIC HAS SUBGENRES. The classical music of Bach is not going to be the same as that of Claude Debussy BECAUSE THEY ARE IN A DIFFERENT CATEGORY AND MUSICAL STRUCTURE.
that's like saying a sub isn't a sandwich

because it's a sub, not a sandwich
But it's different from a burger, and especially different from an open face sandwich, which I argue isn't even a sandwich at all.

You DO realize there are also different genres of classical music, right? Romantic, Baroque, etc?
yes

but they're still classical music

just like tool is just a different kind of metal, but it's still metal

One of these is a mathematically organized movement creating via instilled values of a mass school of thought. The other is Chopin. Learn the difference, it could save my sanity.

I usually just write off Jim's ramblings as /mu/ elitist douchebaggary, but he actually mostly knows what he's talking about here.
Now we can get into the ideological and cultural differences that can separate Metal.

YouTube

this is indeed Metal in the technical way of thinking, but it's shitty false poser scum Metal for babymen.

YouTube

Whereas this is trve Metal, reserved only for those welcomed into Valhalla.
I'd make some sort of gay joke or reference to Breaking the Law, but I don't want to pause Chopin to channel the angst and anger necessary.

In a change of events, this time I've received an ISFP
Mind - 70% introverted
Energy - 12% observant
Nature - 32% Feeling
Tactics - 23% Prospecting
Identity - 8% Turbulent
steangths
    Charming
    Sensitive to Others
    Imaginative
    Passionate
    Curious
    Artistic
I can't say I really agree with all of these...
weakness
    Fiercely Independent
    Unpredictable
    Easily Stressed
    Overly Competitive
    Fluctuating Self-Esteem

I've given up on socializing and personal communication... my introversion seems to be more severe in daily life over the past few months. I don't know if that's just standard seasonal depression or due to the holidays, or whatever... This is my escape for interaction.

I need to start writing again... I got so frustrated with my own shit vocal performance during my last recording session that I just kinda rage quit. I haven't even uploaded that track even though it's basically finished.

Do it.
Nah

I think I'll retrack the vocals one day first.
Whenever it's finished? Could you make money from this?
meh

Probably not, I just do it for... the hell of it, I guess. I haven't the time nor dedication to start a side project and maintain an original song library along side my current band.
