Why not just give the pilots their own toilet behind the pilot door?
Well, it's doable for something like an A380 , but this would become a hassle to design on aircraft of a similar size to the A320 featured in this event. And it probably wouldn't be well received by the pilots themselves.

Which could be exploited by others, and would probably make it more dangerous. Cause what if the suicidal co-pilot would override what the normal co-pilot is doing and fly the plane into the ground?
I meant for the door so if it was locked from the inside it could still be opened on the outside.
That defeats the purpose of a lock.

Maybe, but a structural or control surface failure wouldn't have resulted in such a controlled descent. Do we have the logbooks for the aircraft? The hobbs time? Tach time? How long since overhaul on the engines? Was there a wing extension or not if they were that close to time out? Was the frame even close to time out? Were there any faults corrected in the last phase? Was there a history of repeating faults in the same system that could have reappeared before the next inspection? Smaller air charters regularly operate 20 to 40 year old aircraft, provided the structure isn't timed out. There's a lot that goes on in commercial aviation maintenance, and not just because of laws and government oversight. No mechanic wants to be the one responsible for something like this.

It's a thing for US pilots. I don't know the status of it for other countries though.
Same in EU, I believe.
