The Flood / Re: I saw a Dodge Viper today
« on: June 29, 2015, 02:01:03 PM »
I parked next to some Maserati the other week grabbing a sandwich on my way home from work. Some old dude in fancy clothes and his hot daughter were out for lunch.
Saw a new GTR at the gas station just up the road from my house around the time the new Godzilla movie came out. I made a pun at the time.
Passed what looked like a rodded out Model A the other day on my way home from work as well.
Oh, and I raced an old lady in her cherry Mk VI Lincoln last month. I had seen her before too. It's a really neat car.

It's been a while since I've seen a viper though... I think it's like, a 50:1 vette to viper ratio around here.

i probably should have stayed in AFJROTC and been fast-tracked to officerhood. i would be in a much better socioeconomic position if i had stayed the course. i would be healthier and wealthier with a more stable lifestyle and maybe even a romantic partner. but, im not hung up about it. i like who i am. things kind of suck and im in a rut but its not all bad. being alone so much gives me a lot of time to think.
Nobody likes officers

Except like, other officers

So really nobody that matters likes officers.
yeah well officers also get a shitload more money

>That flag stands for more than racism

Yeah, it stands for the wartime era of a state which was fighting for the right to own slaves.

And was then brought into the public spotlight in the 1940's when used by the KKK

So yeah, it's pretty much "Fuck Niggers; The Flag"
I read that the confederate states of America's constitution outlawed the owning of slaves. So...
No man, that would be entirely counterproductive to the whole secession. The constitution of the Confederacy mentioned nothing of it at all. It was believed to be a state issue.

Also for the record, stores refusing to sell it and all that is retarded. Take it off of government buildings, sure. But uhh, yeah. Free speech and freedom of expression is a two way street. Something more and more people are seeming to forget.
So stores can't make their own business choices now?
If the status quo is forcing bakeries to support gay weddings, then correct.

All this Confederate flag controversy is so stupid. It takes you this long to suddenly be offended?
Okay then.
The Confederate flag nonsense has been an issue since the Civil War. It only now has been boiling over because of current events combined with the fact that it isn't 1863 anymore.
No, it definitely hasn't been a thing here. Kids flew the stars and bars on their pickup trucks going to school senior year.
Maybe in Comradefornia it's an issue, but y'all can just keep your whole being offended at everything shtick to y'allselves.
the fact that you guys aren't bothered by flying a flag that represents racism, violence, and hatred speaks more about the south than anything else. there's a reason you guys are terrible at everything. maybe there's something in the water down there.
At least my state has water lol

So how comes black people can rebrand nigger as a term of endearment but we can't use a symbol of state's rights and the will for a less powerful federal government as a symbol for... well, a want of a less powerful central government?
You know slavery and systematic oppression of blacks aren't even mentioned in the constitution of the Confederate States.
Just a few things home slice

Blacks rebranded nigger because the white slave owners used it to oppress them. The origins shouldn't be compared at all.

And uhh

Quote
The new Constitution has put at rest forever all the agitating questions relating to our peculiar institutions—African slavery as it exists among us—the proper status of the negro in our form of civilization. This was the immediate cause of the late rupture and present revolution. Jefferson, in his forecast, had anticipated this, as the "rock upon which the old Union would split." He was right. What was conjecture with him, is now a realized fact. But whether he fully comprehended the great truth upon which that rock stood and stands, may be doubted. The prevailing ideas entertained by him and most of the leading statesmen at the time of the formation of the old Constitution were, that the enslavement of the African was in violation of the laws of nature; that it was wrong in principle, socially, morally and politically.

It was an evil they knew not well how to deal with; but the general opinion of the men of that day was, that, somehow or other, in the order of Providence, the institution would be evanescent and pass away... Those ideas, however, were fundamentally wrong. They rested upon the assumption of the equality of races. This was an error. It was a sandy foundation, and the idea of a Government built upon it—when the "storm came and the wind blew, it fell."

Our new Government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition.

- Vice President of the Confederacy

So not only is the very foundation wrong, but they go against what the founding fathers constitution, which so many red necks and southerns defend so adamantly. They go on about "knowing history", but the irony is that those who say that don't even understand the "history" they are trying to defend.

The south can have plenty more to be proud about than a stupid flag.
Stephens was basically the Goebbels of the south.
Davis was an American hero who loved the anti-federalist values of Patrick Henry, Sam Adams, and James Monroe and valued liberty and free thought.
