I wouldn't mind being alone in the universe. More stuff for us to conquer. I'd imagine, if we we had enough time and didn't destroy ourselves first; that if we managed to spawn human colonies across the galaxy, that eventually, the colonies would lose contact with each other for a long period of time due to some sort of catastrophic events leading to the restart of civilization on the said colonies. Each colony would then forget the others existed and would build themselves back up to being spacefaring and would re-discover other humans across the galaxy that have adapted to different environments. We would then assume that they are aliens and that we had experienced first contact.
That needs to be like, a movie, or something.

If anybody Tailgates you when you're at or above the speed limit, they should automatically have their licenses revoked. In Australia at least, Tailgating is illegal. It's like they're completely ignoring the possibility of the car in front needing to perform an emergency stop (uncommon, but still a possibility), the weight of the cars (a highway-speed impact is more than enough to cause a severe injury), and, you know, the fact that if you're proven to have been in the wrong in a Car collision, Insurance ain't paying Jack.
I usually do the speed limit, and slow down by 10 km/h to let an overtaking car pass easier than normal. If I'm doing the speed limit, and someone is sitting right on my rear bumper, I like to play a game where I pump the brakes very lightly so I don't actually slow down, but in quick succession, so the brake lights flash on and off quickly. Usually the driver will shit themselves at that point and back off :^)
I thought about slamming the breaks. The engine is in the back, and if they hit it hard enough, your paying for something worth more then a house.
But thats an uber dick move id never pull
downshifting is better. No brake lights, so they can't say you break checked them. Brake checking counts as reckless driving and can put you at fault in some places.

I mean for fuck's sake, most people are bad enough drivers already. Giving them the ability to travel 300 miles an hour when they're drunk or just shit drivers is stupid.
Nobody cares about maxing out their car's speed. Top speed is just a flashy selling point. What people really want is acceleration, which comes from the gearing mostly, but also lots of torque. That's what's really fun. And with lots of torque comes high horsepower ratings, and with high powers come high possible speeds.
