Hypocritessssss

See, looks so much nicer without that silly religious line we had to add to be better than the Soviets.

Oh yeah, so much better.

I mean its not completely the same or anything.

It's not - it shows how our government and military should be - secular.

Thats your opinion and I respectfully disagree.

I believe (in a profession where your main duty is fighting to protect) that Religion should be a main focus.

What an archaic belief to have - this isn't the Crusades.

Want my evidence? 99% of people don't give a fuck about the word "God".

Source would be lovely.

If you or Max have ever spent a dollar bill then you both are hypocrites. "In God we Trust".

I only spend money from pre-1950.

Heres a solution.

Don't sign up for the army then. Boycott it.

A horrible idea, really.

to bitch about it when it has no impact on you.

> United States military
> no impact on me, as a United States citizen

-Caring about one little word "God"

The fact that you think it's simply over one word, and one word only, is laughable.

Oh but it is.

If the word "Family" or "Citizens" replaced God you'd be fine.

Its just a word. Get over it.

No, it wouldn't - because the moronic mentality of the basic grunts for the military still exist. You know, the belief we're on a new Crusade to fight the evil Arab monkeys or whatever the think.

You're so tough insulting our great military.

Not insulting

Quote
I live in an Army town, and I know a lot of Rangers, current and former.

This attitude is almost universal among those guys.

I see a lot of "infidel" bumper stickers, too.

This may come as a surprise to some of you guys, but soldiers are usually pretty ignorant, simple-minded guys. There are obviously exceptions, but grunts are, generally, not very smart. This goes all the way to the top-tier special forces guys as well, if any of you are familiar with the Chris Kyle/Jesse Ventura spat.

A good portion, maybe even the majority, of the Army sees our involvement in the middle east as a holy war, a new crusade against islam. I've spoken to some vets, including my former scoutmaster, and they all had very disturbing things to say about muslims.

The Army itself may try to present a face of multicultural secularism as a way to bring in recruits, but it is very much a christian-controlled institution, with all of the discrimination and favoritism that entails.

Just stating the truth.

Serious / Re: Is the Israeli State tantamount to Middle Eastern Stability?
« on: December 01, 2014, 12:27:02 PM »
without looking at Israel and their problems and causes of tension, is simply lopsided.
Fundamentalists have been using the Qur'an since the time of Thomas Jefferson to justify crimes against foreigners, not just the Israelis, and that wouldn't change if Israel didn't exist as a State.

People would say the same thing about Christianity, especially during the Crusades and Middle Ages - something that can be argued is currently ongoing in the Middle East, their own Middle Ages.

Not simply talking about Hamas.
The rest aren't much better.

Yet, to solely place the blame on the other states in the region and their political agenda/beliefs, without looking at Israel and their problems and causes of tension, is simply lopsided.

If anything, post-Arab Spring Tunisia serves as a better model.

But, others will also argue that Israel existing (Or, at least existing in the scope it has today) has only fueled their neighbors to step the fuck outta line.
Anyone who is willing to stand up, look at Hamas's political agenda, and still maintain that Israel is the source of unrest is fucking deluded.

Not simply talking about Hamas.

Of course it is, if only to slap their neighbours when they step the fuck outta line.

You'd think Israel would be more involved in the Syrian conflict, considering ISIS is likely to turn their heads towards them eventually.

But, others will also argue that Israel existing (Or, at least existing in the scope it has today) has only fueled their neighbors to step the fuck outta line.

The argument is often thrown around that, with the establishment of a strong democracy like Israel in the Middle East, it will eventually begin to stabilize other countries in the region and help end violence in the region. At the same time, conflicts within the Middle East have been on the rise since the end of World War 1, when the Ottoman Empire dissolved, Palestine came under British rule, and the Israeli State movement really began to gain steam.

So, what are your thoughts?

Just got back to uni, to a power outage across campus and the town.

Oh, joy

Tell me about it.

Doesn't help that my phone is dead.

Then how are you on here?

Backup generators keep the hall lights, door entries, and wifi running - so, I have my laptop until it dies.
