What I find confusing is that people are OK with an adversarial foreign power meddling in our election just because their guy won.
It's not confusing at all.
Some people clearly place a higher value on having their chosen president than they do on having a 'clean' election. Like when the Bolsheviks dissolved the National Assembly in 1917 after losing.
Dodgy? Sure. Confusing? Not at all. People just value things differently. And it's pretty evident that a lot of Trump voters believe a Clinton presidency, rightly or wrongly, would be worse for America than Russia leaking some emails.
Pretty much hit the nail on the head. Though, it's actually pretty surprising that the Congressional Republicans are pushing for a formal investigation - they have no need to allow it, they control both chambers and could prevent it if they want.

Question: What makes me believe him more than anyone else who says they have insider knowledge?
And why would I trust Assange to be forthcoming with details about his leakers?
Hasn't the FBI come out and said they don't think there was Russian involvement, while claims around the CIA are based on anonymous sources and not official statements?
I'd have to go back and read the FBI reports, but yes. The FBI and CIA reached different conclusions, though neither conducted a full investigation into the matter (At least from my understanding) The Post kind of summed up why the two come to different conclusions: The competing messages, according to officials in attendance, also reflect cultural differences between the FBI and the CIA. The bureau, true to its law enforcement roots, wants facts and tangible evidence to prove something beyond all reasonable doubt. The CIA is more comfortable drawing inferences from behavior.
“The FBI briefers think in terms of criminal standards — can we prove this in court,” one of the officials said. “The CIA briefers weigh the preponderance of intelligence and then make judgment calls to help policymakers make informed decisions. High confidence for them means ‘we’re pretty damn sure.’ It doesn’t mean they can prove it in court.”
There's also some reports that indicate the RNC was hacked during a similar timeframe as the DNC, but no documents from them were ever released. They based that conclusion, in part, on another finding — which they say was also reached with high confidence — that the Russians hacked the Republican National Committee’s computer systems in addition to their attacks on Democratic organizations, but did not release whatever information they gleaned from the Republican networks.
In the months before the election, it was largely documents from Democratic Party systems that were leaked to the public. Intelligence agencies have concluded that the Russians gave the Democrats’ documents to WikiLeaks.
Republicans have a different explanation for why no documents from their networks were ever released. Over the past several months, officials from the Republican committee have consistently said that their networks were not compromised, asserting that only the accounts of individual Republicans were attacked. On Friday, a senior committee official said he had no comment.

Fake news such as?
A flood of fake news is "informing voters."
K The one that keeps coming to mind is a story about how Michelle Obama's mother is going to receive a government employee's pension because she babysat Malia and Sasha.

These people are actually willing to try and end the world just because they lost the election.
Oh please. The world isn't going to end because Obama requested a look at the various hackings and questionable actions that occurred during the campaign.
Besides, once Trump moves in, this is going to go nowhere.
No, but I really wouldn't put it past the Obama administration to try and false flag Russian involvement Tonkin Gulf style, and all hell is going to break loose if that happens.
Do you honestly believe Russia had zero involvement in the elections?
Do you honestly believe Russian agents were behind Trump winning?
Never said they were, so let's not jump to that extreme.
But to act like Russia had no influence in the election or decisions by the Trump campaign is pretty silly.
And your evidence for this is...where exactly?
I could ask the same for you. I simply find it odd that the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that they had contacts within the Trump campaign only two days after Trump won. Plus I see no reason why an investigation into such a possibility is a bad thing.

Plus, think about it. An unbiased news source would bore most people. They'd get straight to the point, take no sides while making a general informative statement about the event, and be done.
I'd argue against journalists being mere stenographers.
Why?

I'm curious as to what you consider as part of the liberal MSM, and what "blatant lies and horse shit" is being spewed.
CNN, MSNBC, basically anything on TV that isn't FOX really, but FOX is it's own can of worms. As far as the "blatant lies and horse shit", the whole "Fake News" narrative they've been trying to push for the last month or so in order to try and discredit anything that goes against their agenda (mainly as a direct reaction to WikiLeaks), whilst they themselves have been purveying "Fake News" in the form of all the false flag hate crimes supposedly committed by "le ebil racist Trump supporters!", not to mention all the pro-Clinton propaganda they were touting pre-election. They know damn well that their house of cards is falling down, and they're going into meltdown mode to try and prevent it.
As a journalism and political science major, I don't even know where to begin

Oh, please let's not have this debate of what counts as Middle Eastern vs African.
I still have nightmares about Kinder's ignorance on the subject.
oh god what did he say
We got into a two-three page argument because he continued to argue that Egypt isn't part of the Middle East.

It's bullshit, to be blunt.
High-powered individuals involved in some kind of sick paedophile ring?
I'm sure there are (coughWeinercough) But the implication that it's the entire DNC upper echelon, Podesta, Clinton - the people this rumor implicates - is bullshit.

Ah yeah. The "Never, Always" is so great in debates.
Not one good thing has come out of the federal government in the past eight years, nothing has been done that has improved the lives of some group of people, some community.
Keep telling yourself that.

This is how deals are done. Trump has done more in 4 weeks than Obama has done in 8 years.
I could eviscerate you with a multi-paragraph post with numerous sources, statistics and personal narratives. But you'd just come back and shout about bias or some shit. So I'll just no, no he hasn't. Bernie Sanders introduced a protectionist anti-outsourcing bill. Don't the republicans still control both houses of congress? I don't see why they would give this proposal much thought, especially since "starve the beast" appears to still be in full swing.
It's for credit claiming on the Democrats part. There's barely a chance in hell Republicans will even take a look at the legislation, and less of a chance that it ever is passed. This allows them to turn around and say "Look constituents, Republicans say they want to protect your jobs but they didn't even vote on this bill!" Both parties at any level of government do it.
