Serious / Re: Justice Scalia Found Dead in Texas« on: February 13, 2016, 09:45:00 PM »Governments cease to exist if they don't have citizens, so they have a vested interest in supporting and subsidizing heterosexual marriages that result in children being born, which allows the country to continue to exist; Gay people can't have children so Gay marriage makes no sense as a function of the government. Please tell me you are trolling so I don't have to nitpick this post to hell and back. 1893
Serious / Re: Justice Scalia Found Dead in Texas« on: February 13, 2016, 06:20:37 PM »The longest it has ever taken to confirm a Supreme Court nominee is 125 days. Obama has 361 days left in office.Well regardless, that lets Obama appoint a liberal Judge in the Court. We are under nine months from the 2016 Presidential elections, as well as the election that will determine the Senate majority. The GOP in the Senate are not going to give the Democrats and Obama any victory prior to the election - they have no need to. There is no Congressional requirement to approve a justice within a certain amount of time. On top of that, there is the Thurmond Rule in play. 1894

Serious / Re: Nearly Two Weeks Ago, I was Sexually Assaulted« on: February 11, 2016, 12:00:51 PM »How have you not already reported it? Jesus christ, the dude groped you, report that shit and get the bastard in jail, or in the very least hand him a reatraining order and nope the fuck out of there.Problem is that Icy doesn't have much of a case. Reporting sexual assault is always the right course of action, but this is essentially a "he said - he said" kind of deal. Icy's word against his, with no visual signs of sexual assault or witnesses. Unless the other guy has priors, there's not much that can be done about this. Pretty much this. Quote Still not a reason not to report it, though. I may report it, but to the Title IX coordinator on campus - look for more a punishment in terms of his standing here. 1902

This wasn't some secret or surprise - she's had the support of these delegates since (at least) early fall - Bernie Sander's youth supporters just don't understand the concept and are only now in an outrage over it.
It's not like this is some new concept to the primary. 1905
Serious / Re: Nearly Two Weeks Ago, I was Sexually Assaulted« on: February 10, 2016, 09:51:59 AM »Because he wasn't already being violent by forcing himself on you?So why didn't you walk away? Didn't say that - but getting him angry would have only made the whole situation worse Quote What was your plan if nobody walked into the room? No idea 1906
Serious / Re: Nearly Two Weeks Ago, I was Sexually Assaulted« on: February 10, 2016, 09:35:49 AM »This is gay, sexual assault? No, it's sexual assault. 1907
Serious / Re: Nearly Two Weeks Ago, I was Sexually Assaulted« on: February 10, 2016, 09:17:06 AM »So why didn't you walk away? The guy was quite a bit taller, more muscular, and his breath smelled of booze. I know I should have fought back more, but I guess in my mind at the time, a drunk, violent dude wouldn't make the situation any better. It's not like I just sat there and let it happen though. I was telling him no and pushing him back from me. 1908
Serious / Re: Nearly Two Weeks Ago, I was Sexually Assaulted« on: February 10, 2016, 02:42:57 AM »Oh right. Is that sexual assault? Sounds like the guy just groped you, no offence. Which is why I didn't plan to report it. And the legal system does have seperate charges for the various things here. It's not like there's one charge for any offense. 1909
Serious / Re: Nearly Two Weeks Ago, I was Sexually Assaulted« on: February 10, 2016, 02:35:09 AM »Is that sexual assault? Sounds like the guy just groped you, no offence. Terms of legal code here in the states, yeah. Sexual assault is generally a big umbrella term used, with more specific examples and stuff under it. 1910
Serious / Nearly Two Weeks Ago, I was Sexually Assaulted« on: February 10, 2016, 01:46:32 AM »
I was originally going to post this in Anarchy as an anonymous thread, but I figured that a forum with no rules likely wasn't the greatest place to share something like this. So, it's now 2:30 in the morning and I'm typing this thread up with no clear idea or direction as to where it's going to go. If you want to ask stuff or offer advice, I'll take whatever at this point.
Details are in spoilers in case you honestly don't want to read it. Spoiler Counselor said it was good to just write and get my emotions out of my head, so I'm doing it here. Feel privileged. The assault happened the last weekend of January, in another dorm room on campus. The guy and I had been chatting and he invited me over to hang out and, because I'm apparently stupid, believed that he was better than he really was. So I went over to meet him and...yeah. Things kind of went downhill from there - he was trying to get me naked and his hands into my crotch as I kept saying no and to stop. Was biting at my neck and telling to relax, he'd take care of things. Only reason he stopped initially was because one of the roommates walked into the living room. I blame myself for this, even though everyone says not to. Guess that's normal. Haven't reported it to the police, though my counselor set me up with a Title IX coordinator this week. I think that's good. Like I said, not really sure where this thread is/was going. Might add more to it as other stuff happens, but yeah. 1911
