The Flood / Re: What shows have you been watching lately?
« on: September 08, 2020, 06:09:15 AM »
Watched 'The Lives of Others' last night - it's in German so most of you'll need subtitles, but it's a good drama about a Stasi man spying on a playwright and his gf, with him slowly getting involved in their lives.

Had a quick wiki binge afterwards and it turns out the actor who played the Stasi man is a playwright himself who had his own involvement in the fall of the Berlin Wall, so that was interesting.

I feel like such commitments wouldn't be an obstacle, given your dedication to restraint and moderation.

Doing a full-on Fresh Prince of Bel Air binge on Netflix.

Kinda sad about the stories they have about black folk being pulled over for little reason or black history month and the episodes are nearly 30 years old, but that's a criticism of reality rather than an awesome show.

Edited for clarity, kinda made it sound like those issues are the show's problem...

Think lo-fi lounge music.

So apart from here;

Reddit
2 Discords frequently enough that I consider myself an actual participant (as opposed to just there for the notifications).
Another offsite (not Sapphire).

And formerly;
Sapphire, mostly to see how it played out (it's festering about as well as we are here, with all the trimmings of soap opera drama).
A Battlefield EU/UK offsite forum that happened to split off from the official place around a year after Bungie did their redecorating (it died sometime in 2016/17).

Yes, yes, and yes.

Soon to quit my job after getting into Uni again to do a Master's, fully funded courtesy of the Welsh gov.

I work(ed) in a cocktail bar so it seems like with the furlough scheme winding down and the chance of a 2nd wave coming up, getting out now while the gettin' is good.

At this rate I'm not sure even 2 terms should be allowed.

The system seems so fucked up that it feels like it's designed to takes ages to do anything productive, but evidently a tweet away from fucking shit up.

(This coming from a country where the next PM is usually someone who's been in a prominent cabinet minister position for years who's been fuckin shit up in the background up until they continue it in the forefront as a PM).

So like, what's your preference

You on the Moon, Mars, Pluto, an exoplanet off Sagitarius A...(totally habitable, be it a total terraform or just a base to live on) and everyone else on Earth, or vice versa?

I wonder if the sapphire offsite disintegrated over time.

No, it's still there.

About as quiet as here though.

Imagine if Bungie didn’t outright shit themselves for the july 2014 site update

Imagine if Bungie didn’t pull down their pants and perform explosive diarrhoea all over their old fans and the community with their soulless cash grab game and then proceeded to lock out anyone who wouldn’t buy it

Then they'd be cashless and hosting a forum server for oldies to shit on their complete lack of Halo.

Like yeah I get it Fuck Bungie, but apart from purchasing the game to access the forums, nuking the old iterations isn't new.

RIP any CoD forum except for whatever the current one is, and any Battlefield forum except BFV/BF1.

Since last September I've been living with my girlfriend in a flat/apartment.

Soon we plan to move again, wherever our courses at a mutual university take us.

It's good to aim for your passion, but use the well paying shit first as a stepping stone to get you there/buffer to fall back on if things get tough.

Stick with it for now, it's a bit too coronavirusey to be a PT, and you having had it doesn't give immunity either.

An update.

Not neccessarily a show, but the BBC World Service has been doing a podcast/radio series on the Apollo 11 Moon Landing last year and Apollo 13 disaster/recovery this year for their respective 50th anniversaries.

Really good stuff to have a listen to, and the Apollo 13 series you can listen to in about 5 hours (5 x 45 minute episodes, and 2 extra interviews with the crew).

They need all that oxygen to breathe and barely function as passable regular citizens, the arseholes.

So not only are they retarded, but stealing all the air too, the fucking mouth breathers.

The Flood / Re: tfw no gf
« on: July 11, 2020, 06:11:53 AM »
Maybe 'tfw no gf' boils down to wanting both the wholeness in themselves as well as the love of another person to add to that, that usually comes along with it as a bonus.

It's not like millenials who do the whole 'I want to die' 'same' routine actually want to die, but that the world is so fucked that they are powerless and numbed by it that this sentiment rings out.

It's the underlying shit man. Though it can also be sad lonely creeps.

Wait.

TWD is still going?

I checked out whenever Negan got captured and put in... jail?

That and the times where Rick's kid died in the sewer and Michael Burnham got killed off to go to Star Trek Discovery kinda merged as around the same time.

Are they still in that fucking place?

Me and the gf finally finished watching all of Star Trek after 3 years (skipped TOS, but watched all the movies and the Picard series). Voyager was a fucking trek to get through, and Picard wasn't really what we expected.

Interspersed between this was Due South, a 90's TV show where a holier than thou Canadian Mountie goes around solving problems and crimes in Chicago. For reasons.

Blitzed through Avatar and TLOK over May. The latter was a bit unconvincing as a sequel series, but good in its own right.

Now we're going through old Louis Theroux Documentaries, and watching The Mentalist.

Also saw the first few episodes of some anime about Japanes spirits and their names on a list that a schoolkid inherited? Can't remember the name. Kinda reminds me of My Name is Earl, but weeby.

News came out today of him apparently doing things, kissing babies, etc...

But the news added there was no way to independently verify the freshness of the footage.
