Reach is my favourite Halo.
Fallout 3 is hated now? Lol ok then add it to the list. I also love Fallout 4, and particularly the settlement system which some seem to despise.
Sure, it's no New Vegas, but they all have their quirks and gems.
Brink was also the shit but it totally flopped on release. A shame, because a lot of other TF2 copies like Overwatch and Apex took the lion's share a few years later but with much less depth to it all.

Flashman and the Tiger. A lot more interesting, buuut a lot more about saving Austrian Emperors and railing noble broads than I would want in a book.
Next one is gonna be The Ascent of Rum Doodle, it's supposed to be good but I bought my copy because it had a nice fictional map on it.

Yeah they're busy and I haven't seen any horse-ness. Granted they also have these massive megathreads like a rolling Discord, and they have a very low replacement rate for new users. At some point, they will go too, not that I wish it on there or here. Frankly I'm just shocked this place still lives on after what 7 or 8 years now, especially since this was such a niche community to begin with.

It's funny because as soon as a new thread is posted people will still reply so everyone remaining is just lurking waiting for someone else to post something.
Maybe we're all bored out of our gourds. We've banned all the extremes, drama died of old age, and no one cares enough to question Verb's stances on anything or Secondclasses' somehow ever-spiralling descent. The time has passed for new folk to arrive because all of the niches and cliques within have amalgamated into the entire forum. We're all waiting for the revival that'll never happen, and I say that with some sadness considering I don't feel like I really 'know' anyone here.

I talk to my parents every so often, probably 2-3 months over the phone or facebook. Last time I saw them in person was 3 days over Christmas (which I entirely blame on the university allowing coursework over the christmas period, and covid lockdowns)
I'm not sure I've quite got the hang of it since I moved out 2 years ago, but I seem to be doing better than my brother. He hasn't talked to her in the last 4 years, and recently he started working offshore so he doesn't really get time to visit or call.
It kinda works out though, in a weird sort of way. I talk/send memes to my brother weekly, he's visited me a few times in last few months, and then I update mum with how he's doing, and then talk to dad about how everyone is.

You guys caught me at the very tail end of a major depressive episode so you didn't get to see that much of who I used to be.
More or less the same case for a lot of people here. Probably why it became such a cesspool, if you think about it. This has never really been a healthy community.
That's why sometimes I worry about the people that vanished from this place without warning and never came back.
If they were battling their inner demons I just hope that they managed to get better and find happiness. If leaving this site was for the better for them then I hope they're all doing okay.
You never know, this place could have been the source of some their misery.
Maybe leaving it freed them.

For what it's worth, I'm regret not jumping in for anyone's defence which has contributed to this about as much as the cruel things that were said. I still don't know what draws Anarchy has - I think my only thread there was recently (last year lol) asking what it's purpose was. We made of guys like RomanGladiator a lot for his unfortunate outcomes then one day he vanished and never came back, all without warning too. This guy had the absolute worst luck if all of his stories ended up being legitimate.
Oh man that fucking guy, I forgot about his escapades lol. I get what you mean, there's no real way to confirm the stories of most of us here without risking exposing ourselves to further ridicule (Deci springs to mind). Then there's the older ones who dropped off the map like Dustin (banned), or the rich kid BC1096 (or whatever the numbers were). I remember he had his Snapchat up here and he posted a for a few years and then around the time he stopped coming here, his posts there stopped too. Wonder what he'd be posting now with shit like GME and Dogecoin. There's even the mad bastards on that other tankie forum, now that's some long-running crazy cult drama going on over there. I think the last time I've interacted with people from here has been on the PS4 Community (killed by Sony, F), and that time some of us played Halo Reach (not the one notinvolving Ian and that whole story).

A lot I went from starting my BSc to nearly finishing my MSc. I travelled a lot during Uni, went as far as Malaysia. Then I came home and met my future girlfriend of... 3 years and counting. I've moved from the middle of nowhere, to the capital of Wales, and now the capital of Scotland. I got realllly into film photography. But apart from a decent haircut and some bristles, look much the same. Oh, and now I have cats.

I graduated before 4 years ago but I opted to do a post grad during covid. Mad right?
I should finish my dissertation in August, and graduate for the final time in November.
Like Nick, I missed the fun of Bachelor's but don't miss the stress. Looking back the stress seems irrelevant compared to now with the higher stakes, but it's all relative.
By Christmas I'll be wondering what all the fuss was about and just remember the good times.

I've tried forcing some fieldwork into my final dissertation project over summer because otherwise I'll die having to write a technical document without ever having left the house. Fortunately it's just coincided with Scottish restrictions being lifted slightly, so now I can gather materials to detect plastic in the oceans from space.

Anyone remember a while ago when Deci was being his usual self and someone responded by making an AI bot trained off his comments?
Have ye got the old resources (like the code or the machine learning part) for that? I want to have a tinker with it for reasons completely unrelated to here.
Closest I can find like it is the GPT3 AI stuff in Pyrhon but that looks a bit intensive when I just want to give the thing an input of source comments and generate some bullshit out of it.
