Serious / Re: Post facts which surprised you
« on: August 30, 2014, 01:33:47 PM »
That apparently we've explored outer space more than the ocean floor.

Spoiler
But I'm a bit skeptical about this. If outer space's reach is supposedly infinite, doesn't that mean the explored bit would always be 0.00000~1%, while the ocean is limited and therefore higher than that? Because I'm pretty sure we've been to the ocean floor at least a few times to be higher than our exploration of space. I mean, space is pretty fuckin' huge.

Surface freshwater (lakes, rivers, surface springs, etc) is 25x10-4% of the total water supply on Earth. And that is what WE mostly rely on.

^That fact made me sad when I realise how we go about taking care of it, what with the Aral Sea (Kazakhstan/Uzbekistan) being "The Aral Puddle" in only ~60 years, and Lake Karachay (russia) being so irradiated it can give a lethal dose to humans in an hour.

Just sit down and watch the other people do it.

Why didn't I think of that?

...Oh yeah. The hangover.

Actually I'm going camping tomorrow.

The fun part is when you try and take down a tent in the morning with a splitting hangover. The joys.

Gaming / Re: Realistic Fallout 4 Predictions
« on: August 30, 2014, 10:06:28 AM »
Well there was that whole Boston Hoax a few months back which got most people into a frenzy, so I'm being a tad more cautious over "leaks" and "secret sites".

As for my expectations, I'd love for F4 to build further from New Vegas, but some changes of course, namely removing those ghastly colour filters that overpowered certain locations, e.g. Camp Searchlight's green and Caesar's Legion Camp's red which made it fucking horrible. (Fallout 3 had a constant green to be fair, but it wasn't as noticeable nor intruding on the eyes).

As for additions, I wanna see some more crazy fuck-up vaults. F3's Vaults 96 and 106 and 108 were pretty good (and so was the non-vault 77, only items found as a jumpsuit and a some pretty scared shitless raider tapes), as were FNV's Vaults 22, (and that one where the voted overseer had to be sacrificed to "keep the vault running").

I also expect some overhaul on the weapons. Given the time difference between F3 and FNV (and whatever time period F4 becomes), I wanna see some new improved weapons (perhaps from the BoS or Enclave/Remnants?), and a fuckton of "homemade" weapons that are available, more along the lines of Metro's Bastard Gun and the rudimentary double barrel they have (as well as a ton more bashy and slashy melee weapons).

It would be nice for a change of location, as now the West Coast has been done rather extensively and the North East is a bit too soon to go back to. New Orleans or the Canada/US border would be interesting to see after Canada had a Chinese invasion and later annexation.

And finally, I'd expect by the time they announce it, it will be next gen/PC "exclusive", on a beefed up engine to take advantage of better graphics options available. Oh, and gore, lots of it.

« on: August 30, 2014, 09:44:29 AM »
Yeah if you have some extra MS points or something, I'd recommend it. It's a decently fun game. Not $15 worth, though. I've spent an hour or two on it now.

It was free recently with the XBL Gold Deals thing a month or so ago.

Good game, but no replay value IMO and it's difficult to see climbable objects in certain areas.

The Flood / Re: Most memorable dream
« on: August 29, 2014, 07:58:41 PM »
I had a nightmare when I was young that a man, with an oversized hammer for a head, was chasing me.

I had one this morning of me on a race course, on a deck chair that could turn into a car (somehow) and I was driving along, then for some reason I stopped and then suddenly termites were all over my deckchair (the car turned into a deckchair when I stopped, obviously). I woke up then, trying to stamp and punch in my bed.

For that one I blame that spider swarm GIF and karma for posting it.

When it isn't in maintenance mode, it just shows up an username creation page and a selection of avatars, which if I complete, refreshes the page and does nothing else.

I fucking love the new site.

Would someone mind telling me when these game nights are on? I would've joined (even if it was US timezoned - I have a lot of nothing to do).

Large cities=/=Rest of UK

Regardless of race, in big cities the rift appears
Ah. Fair point there.

Still...for a rural back-end of nowhere place I live, I see an awful lot of police for some reason.

Get this,we have many more laws against knives/guns/weaponry BUT, we are not searched/oppressed/attacked, therefore giving us more freedom to do what the fuck we want.

In fact, i've not seen a single cop, on foot in my area for over 5 years!

By any chance are you white?

As according to recent figures (and depending on certain areas of Britain) you are 29 times more likely than a white person to stopped and searched if you are black. And to top it off, an estimated 250,000 S&S's conducted last year could've been illegal. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-28923242)

Only now have they decided to implement a CoC and monitoring to enforce some standard of equality. Hell, one guy said he's been stopped 140 times and yet never arrested as a result.

The Flood / Re: Some guy is restarting Arby 'n' The Chief
« on: August 28, 2014, 12:45:49 PM »
It seems a bit forced and repetitive. Granted, this guy's only 16 and has limited resources it seems so he's doing a decent job with what he's got, but I'm afraid it won't be as good as the original.

5811
Jesus.

It seems anything that isn't an instant fix-it job just isn't good enough. I'm sorry they can't seem to realise that the problem of rape, while being reduced, will never truly go away just like other crimes haven't. No I'm not frickin' advocating it, but realistically reducing ANY crime to 0 is impossible without living in a totally controlled environment, ala 1984.

I'm glad those students have made it easier to check with far less hassle than what was available previously, but if these prominent figures of feminism gain support behind their "cause" and make people believe this is useless, then frankly the benefits of this detection tool will be for nothing. Good job girls.

'360 and some single-player/simple games on my laptop.

I think Utopia did a good job of rationalizing something similar (although this was going to a secret organisation sterilizing on a global scale). To continue humanities survival at such comfort (1st world standards, with relative peace), large populations had to be sterilized, randomly, so that the global population would suddenly decrease over the next generation, thus saving us in general.

...but for an individual, state approved reason? I honestly couldn't think of any.

Serious / Re: Ukraine update: The Rebellion Strikes Back.
« on: August 27, 2014, 06:35:53 PM »
Yeah, but something like WWIII? Every kid wants to live in a post-apocolyptic wasteland, but nobody wants to live through the events that create it.

Woah no.The whole Post-Apocalyptic thing is a tad romanticized.

Honestly, unless you're like that survivalist who lived 60 years in his home-made shack in the middle of no-where, Alaska, then we're all pretty fucked. I'll stick to having electricity, booze, bacon, manufactured goods from China and outstanding medical care (all radiation and pathogen free!)

5816
It's kind of funny that whenever kinder opens his mouth in Serious it turns into a full on prison grape.

The downside of course is how it tends to derail everything.

Well, you (plural) got into some heated debate which I think is healthy.

...Shame it was pointless and led to insults, but ah well.

5817
Boris isn't the only one to have done this.

Granted, the last one I know is from the 1820's when Lord Liverpool temporarily abolished the act during mass riots after the war with France, and even then that was considered oppressive...

...but still.

Spoiler
Also, Britain has a constitution? Serious question.

5818
I guess it's just Juncker being a prick after Britain by and large weren't really pleased with him being the new... head of EU?
