Supposedly a lot of them are making the excuse that they fear for their life if they vote in favor of impeachment. Considering how many of them have been complicit in this whole thing to begin with, I won't be holding my breath over it. But it's possible, since enough of them changed their tune and allowed the electoral votes to pass without too much fuss that night.

After all that shit and protesting, even if it was well meant, do you feel like anything at all was accomplished? Was any justice done? Any headway made(other than showing that the police force is an issue)?
I went to 3 separate marches, stopped going because of health stuff and the risk for covid was too high. I was there for police brutality, as I've seen a lot of it firsthand. The last time I ever called the police was when I was staying at a motel near the public transit station- I heard a man and woman screaming in the floor above me, sounded like the man was extremely angry and the woman like she feared for her life. By the time the cops arrived, the screaming had stopped and they didn't even try to investigate. Instead they kicked a homeless man awake who was sleeping on the grass, arrested him, and left. There have been other events, but that was the one where I completely stopped trusting them and the last time I ever called 911. Not much changed here, but in other parts of the country the police was at least partially defunded. I don't go much into specific detail about events like that in my life on here, but I'm no stranger to attending protests. When you work in nonprofits as much as I have it's practically part of the job. They don't typically result in immediate change. But as far as I'm concerned I was just doing my part. Nonprofit work was what kept me going when I was homeless and gave somewhat a sense of purpose, and I still contribute to causes on occasion. It's also what got me couches to crash on and scholarships to go back to school.

It was a great protest yesterday in DC. I’m glad I was in attendance. Unfortunately a few bad apples ruined it but that was the same as the BLM protests.

My cynicism calls. That footage could be cherry picking if it's not isolated to the same place. It's partwise a moot point if there's protesters getting beat up in another state entirely and others getting a better treatment on capitol hill. That just indicates the police force in one state is more rubbish than in another. Not to be a detractor to the actual situation, but shit like that serves no constructive purpose other than to paint a slanted narrative. If all the sources are out of the same general location, then I'd be more likely to buy it.
Not really. It's pretty well established that the police would've responded EXTREMELY differently if it was a BLM protest. To suggest otherwise is to be woefully unaware of just how bad the situation was.
I would be unaware since I wasn't there in person. And I keep tabs in a minimalistic sense only to know that stuff is happening. I don't trust news outlets or social media not to slant things in their favor because it's proven that they do.
Like I said, not to detract from the actual situation. You just can't ever trust anybody with political motiffs, even if they cover critical events and happenings.
I had teargas thrown at me in a peaceful march with children and elderly people. Here's what DC looked like BLM vs MAGA:   I'm not really in the mood to entertain this.

I'm not at all fond of Trump, but the US President being banned from a communications medium by a private corporation sets a precedent I'm not comfortable with.
The precedent was already set when the courts ruled on the gay wedding cake thing. Twitter is a private company that can deny their service to whoever they want, and public platforms on the internet are still extremely unregulated. But I still agree that it's a problem. Social media is generally designed to be psychologically manipulative as it is already, but that's probably a discussion for another thread.

I'm pretty damn accustomed to most of the things I want or plan not working out. Enough to the point where failure is the expected default, and good things are a genuine surprise. Can't say I do much of anything to cope, and I can't answer why I keep trying in spite of things. I just do.
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. After while enduring things gets easier as you build up resilience. But I also wouldn't consider myself the best person to ask.

Plotlines are extremely two dimensional and predictable but I guess it's fine if you just want entertainment without any real complexity. In the aftermath, however, many streamers fixated on one small portion of the two-hour presentation: Twitch’s decision to ban words like “simp,” “incel,” and “virgin”—at least, when they’re used in derogatory contexts.
Toward the end of the town hall, Twitch COO Sara Clemens elaborated on new Twitch rules set to go into effect next month. Clemens explained that one of the new rules outlaws “derogatory statements about another person’s perceived sexual practices,” which includes “negatively targeting another person with sexually focused terms.”
“Using terms like ‘simp,’ ‘incel,’ or ‘virgin’ as an insult to negatively refer to another person’s sexual activity is not allowed under this new policy,” said Clemens. “In addition to the policy change, we’re also proactively denying emotes that include the term ‘simp.’ We remove them when reported and will keep doing that once the policy changes.” bruh what the fuck lol
