Honestly, that cutscene was kind of shitty. Spartans are super soldiers, but they're not magical  superheroes that can gayly skip down a sheer mountainside tearing dozens of enemies apart.
Yeah, they're supersoldiers that are very agile and can pull off incredible feats. This is pretty established in the canon.
This cutscene reflects Spartans capabilities.
Disregarding that he's comparing two vastly different SPARTAN classes, of course.
Even then, the S-IIs are capable of pulling off pretty amazing stunts.

Like seriously. Bungie's portrayal is so disconnected from the canon that S-IIs in their games and S-IIs in the books are basically different things.
Like John barely outrunning the plasma beam at the end of 'Regret' in Halo 2. So stupid.

I think Halo Wars has the most accurate portrayal in the Mobsters cutscene. And that's pretty similar to what we're getting here.
Still my favourite cutscene out of all the games.

With the Xbox One having backwards compatibility with 360 games and potentially Xbox original games in the near future, is the MCC even worth getting still?

H4 MP is actually pretty good now

Do you think I'd be good if I just played MGS1, 2, 3, and 4?... I don't know if I have the patience to play anything else.
I just want to try out one of the games to see if I'd like the series. I feel like the older games might be harder to get into because of dated gameplay. So if I enjoy this one (or any that might be better) then I would go back and play the others.
They've aged pretty well.
I sterted the franchise last month and had no issues with the gameplay.

I'd recommend starting at MGS1 (or even MG1 if you feel like it), and play through them all.

It looks like Jul's forces are fighting another faction, but who or what? I didn't see any UNSC ships in orbit and it can't be the Prometheans. Unless Kamchata has some for automated defenses.
Frankie said Osiris also have air support. That's why there's a bunch of ships crashing.

I'm just used to the old Spartan portrayal. Clean, efficient, and rather plain soldiers. Mechanical in their combat and using by the books standards of warfare heightened by all their various boosted abilities.

And not being so flashy. Yes I know the II's could wipe out a sizeable force.
Yeah, just like when Kelly, Joshua and Fred flew a couple Banshees into a staging point so Kelly could throw a nuke like a football into a Covenant cruiser?
Or like the time when Linda sniped Banshee pilots out of Banshees using one hand whilst hanging from a cable upside down?

Quote
Like I said though. Maybe Blue Team will act differently. As it's already noted that the IVs are all typical bro-dudes.
We already know they'll act differently because of people who've played a Blue Team level.
They fthrust through space to a station, break through the glass, clamp down their feet to the floor and let the Covenant inside get sucked into vacuum, all without firing a single shot.

they're either dead, retired, mia or s-ivs
So either useless or Jun.
IVs are anything but useless.

This is the closest representation to the Spartans in the canon we've had in any of the games

I mean I know they're agile and strong and all that.

But in most of the novels they were always portrayed as stealthy and tactical. They couldn't run through enemies and they couldn't charge tanks.

Then again, I guess since Blue Team is in here as well we'll see how a Spartan II does it.
Spartan IVs aren't IIs.
A team of S-IIs could blow through a sizeable force, because of how they work together. Being more stealthy means shit.

Plus 'Mdama's faction is literally a bunch of losers and rejects. They ain't no War-era Covenant.

Spartan IIIs were pretty disposable.

You don't need to exclude them at this point.

You can say that most will never...resurface.

This isn't planned strategy, this is blind running and gunning. I don't recall any of that aside from maybe once in the books. It hits the standard action super hero stuff by having it look really cool and shiny, but just because something is painted gold doesn't mean it is.
I'm talking about their performance, not the fact they're doing a blowthrough

5037
I figure too many people are gonna be playing MGSV to really give a fuck about this thread, so I think I can afford to hold off a little bit longer. At least until I can get this workload off my back.
