He exists in MG1 through a retcon. He's who Solid Snake confronts in Outer Heaven, and who Solid Snake subsequently kills.
Spoiler Venom Snake was not a thing until MGS5. Venom Snake was the brand new main character of MGS5. Venom Snake was confirmed dead in MGS5.
Thus, he is an example of a new main character getting killed off.
Spoiler just because he didn't exist until MGSV doesn't mean anything. He was RETCONNED into MG1
