Exactly. The closest thing I can think of was the Mantis boss fight in MGS1 with the "Hideo" screen thing. That shit was cool back in the day.
Arkham Asylum and Saints Row 4 had fake game fuck ups
That's what Verb is saying though.
Low FPS or resolution could be just like that. If the creator thinks it will suit their vision better, then yeah, it's better than having 30 or 60 stable FPS.
He's talking about entire games though Nobody wants that

I'm always hearing of these quest breaking glitches. But I never run into them. The only game that's ever fucked me over and prevented me from advancing is Skyrim (multiple times). But I expect nothing else from Bethesda.
I haven't had major Skyrim problems. Though I did mess it up with my Mods so I had to restart. Witcher 3 I've had no problems with except one quests. Forgot the name of it. It's on Skellige I think. And it involves killing a Werewolf in some sacred place. I could kill him, but a part of the quest telling to me do something else like investigate or whatever wouldn't advance.
I had to restart Skyrim twice because it had a quest breaking bug.
Is it the quest with the werewolf that is starving but everything he eats turns to ash, and he comes back if you kill him?
Yes, it's that one. Speaking of that, how far did you get? I know you said the other day you put the game on hold. Did you actually finish the main story at least?
No. I'm not even halfway. Last thing I did was helping Eskel hunt down the Forktail. Regarding the werewolf quest. There's something you have to feed him after beating him (but don't select to kill him.) Can't remember what you had to feed him though.

PC gaming just lacks the convenience of console/handheld gaming, and I think that in most cases it's worth the trade-off.
How does it lack the convenience in terms of console? You mean sitting on a couch and playing? I can understand that.
Which you can do with a PC

The hoops you jump through to try and not be wrong are ridiculous sometimes. This is one of those times.

God your mental gymnastics are ridiculous
Some things are objective. Framerate is one of those things.
The only thing objective about frame rate is that some rates are lower, and some rates are higher.
Whether or not some rates are better or worse is subjective.
And that it objectively performs worse the lower it gets. Especially below 30. The hoops you jump through to try and not be wrong are ridiculous sometimes. This is one of those times.

Oh yeah.
30fps during storms when?
3435
« on: October 08, 2015, 06:28:22 PM »
Yeah. Good job gleaning my fucking point.
In some contexts, 1fps would be a better choice than 1000000000000000fps. Then why use the shit comparison if you knew it was shit, you fucking berk? Not objectively. Maybe input latency and visual feedback latency is part of the game/experience.
Then it's a shit game and the developers are utter morons.

30fps in Crookback Bog and Novigrad when?
3437
« on: October 08, 2015, 06:23:13 PM »
If you get 1st place in a race, did you lose? Because you got the lowest possible number?
Literally the worst comparison ever. The numbers have different meanings in the different contexts, you utter twonk. 30fps is the bottom line. It's below this number when things like input latency and visual feedback latency come into play. These things are bad.

If a developer chooses to develop a game that runs below 30fps, then they're a stupid and shitty developer. lol
Why.
"Because 30fps is objectively worse than 60fps."
How.
I said below 30fps. Not at 30fps. I have no issue with games being 30fps.

Ideally, it wouldn't.
Consoles limit what can be done.
Not if it's a good console.
Consoles as they are right now are just PCs, but limited. Obviously.
Thats not a good console then....because its limiting to what we can do.
Youre running around in circles here.
I'm saying we could MAKE a GOOD console that isn't limited. God fucking damn.
Go ahead and call that a "PC" if you want, but the point is, I don't like console wars and it would be better if there was just one gaming platform. Maybe two--home and mobile. But that's it.
That would only be a bad thing though. The competition is a good thing and helps the industry.

You really can't though. I am.
Framerate of movies and games aren't the same. Movies don't suffer from stuff like input latency and visual feedback like games do, both of which are tied directly to the framerate. But I'm saying it's possible for game developers to say, "Artistically, I think it would be better if this game ran at a low frame rate."
Not because it's "more cinematic"--whatever that even means. But for other reasons. I don't know.
Wanting to give an authentic '80s gaming experience. I don't fucking know.
I'm saying it's conceivable for 30fps to be better, so no amount of frames-per-second can be objectively "better" than another.
If a developer chooses to develop a game that runs below 30fps, then they're a stupid and shitty developer.

We're not talking about movies (even though they run at 24 fps for the majority of them) If film directors can make artistic decisions like that, game developers can, too.
It doesn't work like that. Two completely different forms of media.
Just because it's fine and works for movies doesn't mean it's fine and works for games.
I disagree. Strongly.

And I'd love to hear your explanation for the existence of console exclusives
Console exclusives shouldn't exist. I hate the fact that there are multiple consoles on the market--I think there should just be one gaming console, period, and then none of us would be having this debate.
You're right.
The PC would be better without all the consoles inflating the market :^)
Wouldn't even be a PC, ideally. Would be its own game console.

The bottom line should always be the games. Not how the games perform--but the games.
even if they ran like shit? performance is something that matters

Damn, Verb. For a guy that brought up the "argument pyramid" when we were talking about drugs, you're sure quick on the draw with that ad hominem :^)
Calling you a dumbass =/= ad hominem.
Ad hominem would be if I said, "You don't know, because you're German" or something stupid like that. Generic insults aren't ad hominem.
Calling someone a dumbass is ad hominem. You're verbally attacking her/him.

Have you even played Metal Gear 1?
He's a complete cunt.
pffft there's nothing wrong with wanting to killing "your" own clone.
Spoiler C'mon man, Venom's like a saint compared to BB, y'know, before his dip into "insanity"
Venom is just as much of a cunt as Big Boss is.
