"Locke what are you doing on that Guardian?"
"Sir, finishing this hunt."
-cut to black-
don't even joke about it man
It's the most likely thing to occur
it isn't though because locke and chief will be best buds by the end

it's painfully obvious that they're gonna team up

And if Galactic Conquest/Forge aren't finished on release, the game needs to be delayed.

Laskey: Chief, come back to the ship, your puppy needs to be fed.

Chief: Negative Infinity, I don't like it.
Infinity:  "Chief, eat your vegetables"
Chief: "Negative Infinity. I don't like it"

So the same amount of time?

Hahaha, you sure got me. Don't know how I'll ever recover from that devastatingly clever retort.
Damn. Solid refutation.

If you give 343i your money for a full product whilst only getting a fraction of it, that removes the incentive for them to make Forge good. Even if they're delaying it specifically to make it good; if they have your money already, the need to improve forge isn't there. It's cheaper for them to do as little as possible than go all-out.
This argument is so dumb.

If they want the fanbase to not drop the game and for them to buy their products in the future, they have to follow up.

There's always an incentive, even if devs are dumb enough to not follow up.

Option 1 easily.

You get to chill out instead of lying in bed and annoyed because you can't sleep.

Okay, if this game ends like Halo 2 I think I'm gonna be pretty upset. Notice in the trailer how it says "Experience the BEGINNING of the greatest hunt in gaming history"? Or am I just interpreting that wrong?
It's obviously going to span multiple games.
The Locke chasing Chief arc will be finished by Halo 5's ending though. I can guarantee you this, because it's pretty obvious.
Eh, I just don't want a huge cliffhanger. 343 says this game will change the galaxy in HUGE ways. I can see it now, whatever the threat is that Chief is trying to stop, Locke will realize this at the end of Halo 5. They'll team up. The end.
A cliff-hanger is unavoidable.
Glad you mentioned that. Linear games such as Halo 5 are always short. It's not until you get to big RPGs where it's really long, when in actuality, the game may not be that long story wise, but all the time you spend wandering around and doing things, adds up.

I hope one day, a studio gives us a fairly lengthy linear game. Imagine if Halo 5 was 30-40 hours? Now, making a game like that would be hard, and they'd have to be really careful with the story, not to pad it out and throw in filler. But I'd be willing to try it.

40 hour Halo = No cliffhanger :P
Nobody would want to play 40 hours of the same linear game .

A cliff-hanger in Halo 5 is unavoidable, unless they decide to downsize the plot and story and rush it in an 8 hour game.
Took me 18 hours to beat TLOU. If the story is good, the locations are fun and enjoyable, and gameplay is full of variety, why not?
Because it's difficult to write a 40 hour story.
Players will lose interest.

What the hell were you doing in TLoU for it to take almost 20 hours?
