I like this story, in all honesty.
Seriously, what did you guys want?
Cortana's been descending into shit since the end of Halo 2. We needed that plot thread to go somewhere, and for her to be an antagonist, if you ask me, is cool.
To be fair, I'm sort of half and half on it. I do like that at the very least, it has some plausible roots and connections in the story. I wonder if the Assembly joined her or rejected her invite.
And it reminds me a little bit of Marathon or System Shock in a way. Cortana now supposedly has access to a Halo ring. Who's to say that she doesn't do a little bit of Shodan and tinker with the Flood?
I doubt we'll hear anything about the Assembly. 343 doesn't use it or mention it at all for some reason.
