Its still there, even today. Mexican food does like to reuse certain flavors over and over again, but its hardly down there. The traditional stuff that people usually don't try is whats good, not the shit people degrade by adapting it to their country. Look at America.
A stereotype means nothing.
That's like saying France is a cowardly country that always surrenders.
I mean the validity of it, its not shit now, but the reputation is still there for a reason, stereotype not included.
The reputation exists because bad scrappings of food were rationed out during a war to the Allies that were stationed here.
The stereotype isn't true in the slightest, because scraps of food during Wartime don't represent actual British food.
I did say stereotype not included man, Lemon pls. In the community of people who are actually serious about food, to the level of dedication and passion to it, you know Chefs, cooks, and the like, the country's food isn't well received all that much. Thats my point I want to get across. It may not be shit, buuuut I wouldn't hold it to a high regard, few countries deserve high praise when it comes to food.

I've played 2 and 3 and nothing seemed different aside from the boats. From what I've seen of the rest, they aren't worth my money or time.

AC2 and AC3 are radically different.
I got bored of both within half an hour and couldn't bring myself to play them again.

AC doesn't need ship combat to be successful. And there was more ship combat in Rogue, so it's not gone. Plus ships aren't very Assassin-y. AC4 was a great game, but it was a poor Assassins Creed game.
