Gaming / Re: The Only Legit Reason Pre-Ordering is Acceptable.
« on: April 18, 2015, 04:42:38 AM »
The only reason you have a problem with it is because of the sheer number of people doing it.
No, actually.
My problem with pre-ordering is the bullshit it now contributes to, not pre-ordering itself.
If ir didn't harm the industry then I wouldn't give a fuck.

So if you want me to disregard the fact that many people do it, that's fine because that only strengthens my point.
Umm, it doesn't though.

And you think that trying to get an extreme minority of people to not pre-order will help? It's the 99%, the people that don't care or understand. Not the 1% that pre-order only in specific cases, on rare occasions.
>bandwagon effect
Just because so many people do it doesn't make it acceptable.

Pre-ordering supports devs outside of the major ones.
You know what else supports Devs? Buying their game when it releas.

If you have an issue with the concept of paying for nothing then how about you stop and consider microtransactions and too much dlc? Season passes are the worst offenders, essentially pre-ordering content that should be free or already included-that's ridiculous and has a far, far greater impact than pre-ordering a game just to take advantage of a price cut and pre-loading.
I already acknowledge that thosee things are hurting the industry too.
These don't detract from the problem that pre-ordering causes and aren't the discussion at hand.

they sexualized her to keep male gamers interested
because they think male gamers all just think with their dicks
So are youu just ignoring everything everyone has said ITT?
A depiction of the female body =/= sexual arousal.

Quote
i shouldn't even have to fucking explain how it's insulting to women
But it's not though. A "naked" woman is in no way insulting to women.  It's not like she's pole dancing or sucking dick or anything.
You could maybe argue that for her H3 design she is slightly sexualized, maybe, but that's it.

lmao you're a fucking feminist

11828
So you want to fuck people over by wanting the movie to be shit?

Funny that
what

that's a really sloppy use of the term "fuck over"
So that's a yes

Unless you know, the design is based around the story to show a stronger connection between the two, which her Halo 4 design does.
thank you for conveniently ignoring my counterexample

no, that doesn't justify a thing
the story CAN'T justify it, that's my argument
I ignored it because it was shit.

Story absolutely can justify an appearance of a character, for obvious reasons that I shouldn't even have to mention because they're so fucking obvious.

If the story didn't have the human/machine element (A BIG PART OF THE STORY), then her appearance wouldn't be justified by the story. But the game does have that element, thus IT JUSTIFIES HER MORE HUMAN APPEARANCE TO EMPHASIS THE FUCKING STORY ELEMENT THAT IS A BIG PART OF THE GAME.

how does a character go from this
to this

because the game's demographic is mostly men
and most men like pretty women

no fucking shit

that's the only reason her design had an overhaul
Let's just ignore her 2 previous redesigns then.

>knows literally nothing about the story
Since she was made by using DNA from Dr. Halsey wouldn't that be the reason for what she looks like in Halo 4? After each game you can see she is getting older.
im pretty sure she can manifest herself in whatever form she chooses. She's not a physical being so she doesn't have to choose to look however.
AI tend to choose avatars that resemble their donors.
Cortana has been said to resemble a younger Catherine Halsey.

well there you go
thank you for helping my argument
I didn't though. I pointed out how her Halo 3 design is the most sexualized because of her exaggerated body and boob physicsl

dude stop

If there wasn't the story element of "who is the human and who is the machine" (and if you'd played the game), then you'd be 100% correct in saying it's just to get teen's dicks hard, but... Yeah.

She's also the most anatomically correct in Halo 4. Being anatomically correct =/= sexualized
If anything, she's the most sexualized in Halo 3 because her tits jiggle.

No

it's just common sense
if you can't see it, you never will

but it's obvious

If you even knew what you were even talking about then you might have some inkling of validity.

Not buying games hurts the industry.
Not once did I say don't buy the game(s), I said pre-ordering only hurts the industry.

Quote
The games industry is worsening as pre-orders fall, that does not reflect what you are saying. What it reflects is people are rightfully losing faith because companies are screwing people over.
Game sales falling because people are losing faith is a direct result of pre-ordering.

Quote
Pre-ordering isn't the problem, the problem is simply that gaming has moved from something secular and strange to most to the biggest and most profitable form of entertainment on the planet, it's not devs making games for the true players anymore, it's companies and board members releasing games to make a shit-ton of cash off casual gamers.
I know pre-ordering in itself isn't inherently the problem. It's what the companies are doing because of people pre-ordering (bullshit pre-order "bonuses", day one DLC etc etc) that's the problem.
Therefore pre-ordering is bad.

Quote
Pre-ordering is just a way to get what you want quicker.
That's still not a justification.
Adding to the shit just to get your hands on a game a few hours early isn't a worthwhile trade-off. All you're doing is hurting yourself by hurting the industry.

I have trouble getting super pumped for things now. The Force Awakens and Battlefront trailers left me emotionally drained.
Because Battlefront is confirmed shit?

I'm going to wait until it comes out before I let people who will always assume a game to be terrible and have a toxic attitude or rabid fanboys who will always assume something to be incredible tell me whether it will be good or not.

Am I excited? Yes. But I'm not putting my money on anything, or ruling out putting it down, before I make up my mind on my own.

Not going to let people who are relentlessly negative or those who are fanboys decide for me.
I don't always assume games will be terrible. Battlefront was one of the few games I was really looking forward to this year.

Make it so that anything past the 3rd level of quotes isn't even recorded. That way when you're responding to a longer quote chain, you don't have to scroll down forever to get to the bottom.

Bungie did that on b.old and it worked well, but it was 5 levels instead.
