Really, the problem I have with magic only applies to dark souls 2.

I feel that dark souls has always been a fighting/rhythm game and you don't experience that with magic, especially in two when that shit was op.

Plus pursuers is for ninjas.

Spells in DKS 2 are easier to dodge than ya probably think. Getting the timing for some of them down is a little tricker (homing soul arrow was annoying for me for a while) but its not a problem once you get it down. (and dont forget to level that ADP to at least 19, that solves most problems for anyone really)  Although it was probably easier for me to get the timing having been using them the whole time.

Where bullshit starts to show up though is when Hexes get involved. Now granted most of the good ones requre you to literaly use Souls as ammo but that's not much of a help when you're on the receiving end of them. There is a ridiculous combo too with Dance of Flame and Pursuers which will just fuck your whole day up way too easily.

I was talking more about pve. Pvp magic has been pretty easy to avoid. Buffs are awful tho.
I try not to take PvE balance into account. PvE has always been cheesable regardless of builds.

If they actually fix some of the glaring flaws such as 4 direction rolling and backstabs, I may consider picking it up. Otherwise, not so much.

Try dark resistance. Really, magic in Dark Souls 2 was fine, probably the most balanced it's ever been or ever will be at this point. Yeah, it did a lot of damage, but in order to do that damage you needed to set up your spells and hope for the best. Additionally, countering magic builds was brain dead easy due to resistance stacking allowing 99% elemental damage reduction.

The 10 horses. A duck the size of a horse would be unstoppable, assuming the upscaling didn't diminish its proportional strength.
