You know things are bad when fucking Midget talks common sense.
Midget is actually a fairly intelligent guy when you talk with him one on one.
Of that I'm aware of.
Midget on the forums is just usually shuffle and dance. Which is why it's bad if he ever starts talking common sense. Somebody broke his dance routine hard enough for him to actually say something constructive.
Both him and I share a similar sense of humor which is based around absurdity and social disorder.

These threads pretty much always turn into giant glass houses full of people throwing stones.

ITT: Reactionaries
Oh wise one why don't you enlighten us with your masterful argumentative skills and wisdom like you did in this thread? Please I'm begging you to try and argue your case again and inevitably just stop replying because you're wrong.
Lol, yeah
That's why I stopped responding, kiddo
Because I'm wrong, and not because the opposing answer is always "NUH UH UR A DUMMY"
Free speech and other slippery slope arguments on this topic are nothing more than fear mongering against some imagined "other side". Hell, this thread is fully of people that use the term 'SJW' unironically, you really think it's worth my time to argue with you people?
So come on then
Educate us with your oh so wise and enlightening knowledge.
I just partially did after prefacing why I wasn't going into detail.
You can be a pedant all you want, fam, I won't stop you - doesn't change the fact that getting up in arms about "muh freeze peach" is just reactionary shit and you sound as silly as the people who make emails and send them to old ladies about evil liberal professors getting wittily destroyed by Albert Einstein.

I'm becoming really jaded to this whole repetitive cycle of cop shootings and rioting.
It makes for good entertainment though.

If a massive riot happens in Chicago then I have to go down there. I don't live too far away from it.

My plans are to work and make an honest living. I don't care whether that means becoming manager of the grocery store I work in, a laborer or an office worker. If it's honest work that allows me to live a stable and decent life then I'll do it.

Libertarian buzzwords are worse.
"shill," "marxist," "statist, "liberty," "freedoms" (always pluralized like a slackjawed hick), "hand-outs," "entitlements"
He has a point you know...

Also, trying to paint people who value freedom of speech as reactionaries is fucking disgusting and some of the most intellectually dishonest shit I've ever seen.

Censorship of unpopular opinions no matter how dumb they may be is abhorrent. Why the hell do we have to argue about this shit?

« on: November 23, 2015, 04:02:38 PM »
Are there any good arguments FOR censorship?
The way I see it, you should be able to say whatever the fuck you want without worry of legal consequences. If I want to say "Fuck niggers, they all eat shit", I should be able to. Freedom of Speech is the most important thing humans can have.
It's up to society to shame and ostracise racists and such.

Why haven't you been banned yet?
Why do so many of you hate Zesty so much? He seems harmless for the most part.
He's a retard.
Aren't we all?
Yes, but he's extra.
Still, he seems harmless and doesn't really do anything too out of the norm in this board especially considering that this entire board is pure cancer.

What possible reason does the college have to give in to their demands? It sounds like nothing.
They'll be triggered if the college doesn't give in.

It's quite sad that people care more about how many minority people you have in your staff as opposed to whether the staff are the best at their role.
So diversity isn't also an admirable quality?
Not when it takes precedence over a more qualified person getting the job
>implying that we've ever worked on a pure meritocracy that is blind to race
The wrongs of the past don't excuse favoring people based on their race no matter whether it's favoring blacks over whites or vice versa.

I see no reason why we shouldn't accept a good handful of refugees from Syria. We'd probably just need to have decent background checking.

It's an extremely shitty way to think. If someone is having their rights trampled on you should care about it not just for them but for your own sake as well.

And beating up a reporter for practicing his natural rights instantly undermines any validity, not that there was any to begin with, your cause had.
Also "safe places" are unlawful
Lmao
Please explain how
And you do realize that literally everywhere is a "safe space" in some form or fashion, yes?
You can't impede free speech
Uh...yes, you can.
Really easily, actually.
Just because it's not illegal to talk about something doesn't mean it's accepted socially or academically.
Still doesn't mean it's right though. Dragging someone through the dirt over a mistake or holding an opinion that's not popular isn't right nor is it something we as a society should condone. I don't like Verbatim's options but that doesn't mean I would censor him for being outrageously dumb.
There's a difference between censoring someone's opinions because you disagree with them and dissalowing hate speech in an education environment.
There's a world of difference between something like a neo-Nazi rally on campus and some intoxicated frat boy spewing edgy obscenities at a private party.

"If you pay to go to a public school, you can't complain if you face institutionalized discrimination"
Yeah, what a guy
You guys really need to stop throwing around terms like 'institutionalized discrimination' where there is none, because all it will ever end up doing is denigrating actual cases of institutionalized discrimination.
The university didn't offer what these idiots were looking for. Boo fucking hoo. They either have a choice of bucking up and choosing something else, or moving to another university that have the major they want. Crying wolf and throwing temper tantrums accomplishes nothing.
'Institutionalized discrimination' fucking lmao. Anything to establish a victim status for these people.
jfc
Nobody's talking about the fuckin' major. Who gives a shit about the fuckin' major?
>'called the N-word at parties' >parties >institutionalized >climate on campus was 'hostile' >vague definitions without much evidence to them >institutionalized >Someone gave their opinion about the Rwandan genocide that offended someone >institutionalized
Go reread the article again or look up what institutionalized means, because evidently you haven't done one or the other.
Failure to act on racism promoted by the community in an educational environment due to ignorance or unwillingness is institutionalized racism. It doesn't mean there's some Georgian professor cracking a whip at his black students while he taunts them in a southern drawl, it means that there is a willing sense of ignorance about racist acts being committed by students on campus - such as the cotton and the swastikas.
So drunk idiots at a party saying racial slurs and the university staff not giving a shit means institutionalized racism?
