Wow. Seriously good looking pics. Are you legit a chef or in the food business or something?
a lot of what I've been doing for the last few years is training interns from culinary schools

pretty much any time I do line work it's in that capacity, and I focus on catering at other times

right now I'm training some interns from Louisiana, but I've also had students who came to the US on J1 visa from all over eastern Europe, China, and South America

As someone who has apprenticed in a 2-star Michelin restaurant, this is pretty good. Mashed taters of this quality (no matter how good they might look AND HOLY FUCK DO THEY) wouldn't pass though, just by appearance and texture.

If you are a chef Solo, everything else looks pretty excellent. Especially that beef in the first pic. Fat Mmm right there.
Yeah, I work at a country club. We're one of the top 25 in the country and next year we're setting the record for most times to host the PGA championship.

I've worked at a lot of other resorts and private clubs all over the country, in addition to fine dining.

The potatoes are the way I like them, not the way I would prepare them for service, so I definitely agree with what you're saying there.

btw I only took a pic for the fried egg because it had two yolks lol

Never understood sauce drizzled on the plate tho

Just pour on the food
Or leave it to the side and dip
it's 100% for the appearance

The Flood / Re: ive never understood the term “nsfw”
« on: July 19, 2021, 02:47:32 AM »
the term dates back to when computers were less ubiquitous in our lives and people who needed to work with a computer and an internet connection could realistically do anything they wanted as long as their work was done

it's difficult to compare being one of a handful of guys in the office who actually needed to be online in the late 90s against dicking around on your phone in the modern workplace

The Flood / Re: Converse or Vans?
« on: May 23, 2021, 06:03:13 AM »
actually a tough choice

the only canvas shoes I wear these days are a pair of Tom's for around the house or just when I'm in a hurry, but back in the day I alternated between converse hi-tops and vans authentics pretty frequently

I picked converse though because even though I think that I'd be more attracted to a pair of authentics today, I definitely owned a lot more chucks through the years, maybe even twice as many pairs

You guys caught me at the very tail end of a major depressive episode so you didn't get to see that much of who I used to be.
More or less the same case for a lot of people here. Probably why it became such a cesspool, if you think about it. This has never really been a healthy community.
That's why sometimes I worry about the people that vanished from this place without warning and never came back.

If they were battling their inner demons I just hope that they managed to get better and find happiness. If leaving this site was for the better for them then I hope they're all doing okay.

You never know, this place could have been the source of some their misery.

Maybe leaving it freed them.
ಠ_ಠ noises

whiny cunt. jk

I never got into any serious drama here, but then I suppose it would be because I'm not very "different" or controversial in any way either. For what it's worth, I'm regret not jumping in for anyone's defence which has contributed to this about as much as the cruel things that were said.

I still don't know what draws Anarchy has - I think my only thread there was recently (last year lol) asking what it's purpose was. I don't care for shitting on people I barely know for absolutely no reason, and I've got all the weird porn I could find on the internet rather than here at the mercy of someone else's... tastes...

I hope you get better, in all manners.

We made of guys like RomanGladiator a lot for his unfortunate outcomes then one day he vanished and never came back, all without warning too. This guy had the absolute worst luck if all of his stories ended up being legitimate.

Oh man that fucking guy, I forgot about his escapades lol.

I get what you mean, there's no real way to confirm the stories of most of us here without risking exposing ourselves to further ridicule (Deci springs to mind). Then there's the older ones who dropped off the map like Dustin (banned), or the rich kid BC1096 (or whatever the numbers were). I remember he had his Snapchat up here and he posted a for a few years and then around the time he stopped coming here, his posts there stopped too. Wonder what he'd be posting now with shit like GME and Dogecoin.

There's even the mad bastards on that other tankie forum, now that's some long-running crazy cult drama going on over there.

I think the last time I've interacted with people from here has been on the PS4 Community (killed by Sony, F), and that time some of us played Halo Reach (not the one notinvolving Ian and that whole story).
the rich kid bc who was ashamed of the fact that he was privileged and pretended to be a self made stock market millionaire at 17?

yeah I don't have any curiosity to hear him ramble about crypto, although I do remember from b.net that RC was super into crypto before it exploded in '14 and I would actually be interested in hearing what he has to say about what's going on now

idk if he's still around I just haven't seen him in a while

I have gone through a lot in the last seven years.

I was going through a really hard time when sep7agon was started, my family was falling apart, my parents were struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, and most of the time it felt like they were taking out all their pain and anger on me. Things only got worse after I finished high school, and I struggled with some more minor substance abuse issues of my own, which were at times exacerbated by poor relationship decisions. A few years ago I finally started getting my shit together, and now I have a mostly normal life and a decent, somewhat fulfilling career as a chef. In this time I've lived in seven different states. Tomorrow, I'm starting another new job at a casino where I'll be in a supervisory position in one of their food venues.

Here's what I looked like at the beginning of 2014
And this morning

As you can see I'm much less blurry than before.

Is shipping not an option?

If not just fly there
No, they make you pick it up in store to discourage scalpers.

I have to pick it up on Wednesday, so it would cost more to fly. It would also take just as long, if not longer because all the flights have layovers in DFW.
you must really love the guy
I don't know about that, we like each other well enough and have been living together for about a year, but two people don't really need to be head over heels in love with each other to do nice things for one another.

He's been trying to get me a 3070 since my birthday, but hasn't been able to get his hands on one. I'm about a month late snagging the ps5 for his, but we're both decently patient ig.

I managed to snag him one at msrp for his birthday, but now I have to drive 6hrs to pick it up from Best Buy in Memphis.

I'm grateful to have been able to get one at all, but seriously, fuck scalpers.

Can't wait for the part where Mechagodzilla comes from nowhere and then just breaks for literally no reason
the mechagodzilla origin is still in there, cutting out bernie had no effect on introducing him since they don't actually affect the plot in anyway, although the mechagodzilla cuts were some of the hardest to do

like this scene where mechaghodzilla glitches, it comes off like he's just in distress from being more or less evenly matched to kong, and his glitch comes across to me as akin to the face kong makes in strain, I swear it's almost like they made this movie before filming the b plot

Mechagodzilla was wrecking Kong and Godzilla both and got bested by the soy gang
That's some bs

yeah it's like the least earned bullshit of all time

it feels so much better for kong and godzilla to just overcome their common enemy by working together, which is more or less what happened anyway, since pretty much the only thing outside of their cooperation that the soys had an effect on was whether or not mechagodzilla's tail drill worked, so I just kinda cut out the shot where the drill stops spinning since you can't even see it in the shot where they work together to btfo him with the axe

but the inference that russell form deadpool 2 could beat mechagodzilla by spilling some booze on the console is just painful

They did Kong so dirty jobbing to Gojira.

Instead of Mecha Godzilla, it should have been Apex building Kong a Mechsuit to beat down Goji.

I edited out the B storyline from Godzilla Vs. Kong. I call it Gojira vs. King Kong. I think it's a little bit closer to the film we deserved. Still not perfect, but after the bluray versions or maybe even a director's cut comes out I plan to watch all the deleted scenes and cut together another version in higher quality etc.

The source video for this version is the 1080p HBO Max version, and it looks more or less okay, but if you liked the movie you might wanna give mine a watch.

I mean it's pretty good. I really like how it actively ignores stuff that would be hard to explain instead of getting bogged down in it since it frankly doesn't matter. It often feels like the film just ignores logic to allow the plot to move forward, and in most movies that would be an egregious sin, but in something like Godzilla vs. Kong it translates directly to more giant monster fights, and I don't think anyone is bothered by that. It's more or less what everyone complained that Batman v Superman didn't do, since it was so busy worrying about how this all makes sense that we ended up lost in lame bullshit nobody cares about.

Althooough, speaking of lame bullshit nobody cares about... Bernie and Co literally did not need to be in the movie. They could've left the trio of truthseekers on the cutting room floor and it would've had absolutely no effect on the movie except to make it better lol.

Build your PCs

My friend bought a $2000 PC pre built and it only lasted 2 weeks before the GPU went out
bruh what's the point of buying anything other than a laptop unless you know how to build

SIs will always upsell the wrong components or charge you for the word gaming, and sell you a warranty

imagine buying a warranty instead of just getting a warranty for free on every single part for free

just to buy the right machine for the right price, you still already have to know what you want, and at that point, putting it together isn't that much more of a stretch

I've got everything but a 3060Ti or 3070

both are in my price range and I'd be happy with either, but I've got my fingers crossed that the 3070 comes available first
Spoiler
The aio went on sale for $64 and I bought it, since a decent air cooler isn't much cheaper. If it does become more expensive by the time I get around to upgrading the processor, probably next summer, I'll feel vindicated.

UPS is fucking around with my ram and psu.

they're saying Newegg didn't put down my unit number and asking me to update the address, and also telling me I'm not allowed to update the address or pick the package up at a UPS store

at the same time, they're telling me that they already updated the address and yesterday said it would be delivered by the end of the day, and online it still says I simultaneously need to/cannot update the address, and it wasn't delivered

Thanks internet

Are you sure that 10400 comes with a stock cooler? Intel doesn't usually include one with CPU's in that price class, as far as I know.

I don't think you should worry too much with those components. You have a non-K CPU that you won't use to overclock and your power consumption with those specs will be pretty low, so I doubt that temps or airflow are going to be a huge issue (especially given that you're going with liquid cooling). Mounting the radiator front / top each has its own benefits. People say that front makes for a (slightly) cooler CPU and (slightly) hotter GPU, and that top does the opposite, but it really just depends on your specific case / cable management / components and hardly matters.

I'd definitely advise against exhausting through the front though. That's a pretty unusual setup that doesn't really offer any benefits and often isn't even really intended by case manufacturers. I would just go with front intake, rear exhaust, mount radiator at the top and then see which direction you prefer there. You can either have the radiator exhaust through the top or pull air in from the top.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjYli6itP38
Yeah, the Intel stock coolers are pretty anemic little things with one fan blowing directly down onto a circular heatsink with fins pointing in every direction. I already have it and there is a stock cooler, but I won't really trust it once there's a gpu blowing hot air onto it. My bf uses the stock cooler with his 8700, but his 980Ti isn't a blower so he really doesn't have to worry about it.

I got the 10400 as a holdover and am really just trying to think long term. I might have it for six to nine months but at some point I'm looking to get something beefier in the LGA 1200 socket, for the time being though, I couldn't see an upside to spending more on a cpu today.

It's good to know that there really is no magic solution to make sure everything is getting cool air though, I guess I'll just have to decide where I want the heat.
