WOW LOOK AT THIS DIVERSITY

SO UNIQUE
Fucking hipster, the draw style shouldn't be the most important aspect. How many unique ways are there to draw people?

That's odd, I've never received that impression of him from anyone.

You should set a house that will definitely get flooded on fire and place bets.

There we go, two ways to make money out of this ordeal. Think about it, people will be jobless, but there'll be a need to sit down and watch something get destroyed in two ways, but to get there you need to travel by boat.

Seize the moment; build your empire. You can start off with employing your friends, then go on to strangers until you don't have to work anymore.

So, can you get out, or can you literally not 'cause if you open up water is gonna come bursting in? If you can get out, how many directions can you go?

Democracy is retarded enough already, why would you allow the most retarded and violent demographic to help steer the state?
Christ, progressives are stupid.
You're kidding, right? That is the problem with democracy, but even without felons, the populace is plenty stupid to go around. A few more felons wouldn't hurt significantly.

Question 27 doesn't make sense. Why should convicts not be allowed to vote?
The main idea behind felony disenfranchisement is that elections relate exclusively to what goes on in society. People in prison are effectively outside of the workings of a normal society and giving them a say in its governance would therefore not make sense or could skew results as politicians may directly target these groups with promises to change the system for their benefit. Additionally, some see it as an extra punishment or, from a practical perspective, find that people imprisoned for long periods of time have lost touch with society and are ignorant of current events or incapable to properly voice an opinion on them.

There's plenty of countries that prevent a lot of its prisoners from voting, most notably the US and the UK. The UK's about to get rid of its blanket ban thanks to the ECJ and ECtHR, though, so that's great news.
You only need a week to get up to speed on what has happened if you're slow, so unless you get released during the election day, you won't have a problem there; and I don't think you believe that people can't have/make opinions if they've been isolated from society for some years.

What promises could politicians make to favour the minority that is prisoners, while not intimidating the majority of the populace? Are you talking about a party just for prisoners barely making it to the top? If so, excluding how weird that sounds, they wouldn't have influence in America. In the USA parties and such, you're allowed to divide the supporters in a way that gives your party's supporters the majority in the groups. I don't know the terminology, 'cause I haven't studied this, but I believe this is the case.

Look up felony disenfranchisement.
No, I already know that it's a tradition. I'm asking what sense it makes to worsen the living conditions of people who have committed crimes.

I'm not a fan of punishment, unless it can be done without affecting a person's life.
It's not exactly "tradition", it's a form of voter restriction.

The only thing I can come up with is that people who have spent 10+ years in prison are going to be largely ignorant to the issues of today, thus opening another market for voter manipulation. Even then, that's shaky at best.
I still think it's a tradition
definition of tradition
1
a :  an inherited, established, or customary pattern of thought, action, or behavior (as a religious practice or a social custom)
b :  a belief or story or a body of beliefs or stories relating to the past that are commonly accepted as historical though not verifiable
2
:  the handing down of information, beliefs, and customs by word of mouth or by example from one generation to another without written instruction
3
:  cultural continuity in social attitudes, customs, and institutions
but the fact that you wrote that it's a voter restriction, which is what it literally is, gives me the feeling that you want to convey another message. The logical thing is to assume that you want to emphasize the importance of this rule, but then with your explanation you even remark at how it's "shaky at best". The second thing to assume is that you want clear hard facts, and no in-betweens. Even though I may think that it's classified as a tradition, by definition, it's a voter restriction.

If it's the second thing, then I'll leave it at that, but if there's something you want me to know that I've not understood, then please do explain. The reason for my confusion is because then in the second paragraph, you purposefully give me a shady explanation.

I don't get it.

Are you depressed and then anxious that you're losing gains because you're inactive, or is it that you're inactive due to something and therefore losing gains is inevitable, and the whole situation makes you depressed?

No, not really. It just ended 10 minutes ago.
Still, we just had this thread yesterday, except it was Kupo and Verb instead of Challenger.
Just because you label a discussion a discussion doesn't mean that that discussion has reached its conclusion. The discussion was never really concluded in the minds of those involved; only the thread was.

Anyways, to answer the original topic, he was banned for continuing to fight after being told to cut it out, including making a new thread to continue it once the first was locked.

It's only a couple day lite ban. He'll be back
What rules was he breaking, officer?

What was his thread about? I understand that he could've communicated with you through pms, but I'm curious.
You could just check Kupo's last post in his history tbh.
I didn't have the will to. I'm in this thread and reading manga. Searching for Kupo would require my mind to adopt a different way of thinking to the one I'm using right now, and thus I don't want to. It's the same reason why people ask stuff that Google can answer on other sites like Quora or Facebook.

After your thread was locked, I still wanted to respond to the last thing Kupo said to me, so I sent him a PM. Instead of responding, he made a thread mocking me for "trying to get the last word in" through PMs rather than just letting it die. Then he responds to what I said in the PM by calling me a liar, again.

I reported the thread, it got locked, and he got banned.

Then he claims that he was trying to "test" me the whole time.
Weird response, but it makes sense that he responded that way if he truly did want to "test you" or w/e that means, and not actually address the points he made earlier.

I'm not going to judge him too much, because he did fill 5 pages or so with arguments, and after that much time being in that situation, you start to act in an edgy way. You don't want to address valid points because they're the reasonable thing to do, but instead you address valid points because you have to; people are "watching". In these kinds of situations you often adopt a weird mindset that wasn't the intention from the inception.

Also, Kupo admitted that he was just trying to get a rise out of me the entire time, to see if I would be the "bigger man" and walk away from the situation. He was intentionally being obnoxious to see if I would "take the higher ground" and not respond, but I "took the bait" instead. And he's using this as evidence for me being "fake" and "an act."

Because it's totally reasonable to expect someone not to get pissed off and defensive when you repeatedly poke and prod at them with exaggerated, irrelevant, and straight-up bullshit accusations. That's so fair.

He's a petty little piece of shit.
The problem here is they aren't bullshit accusations.

You put on an act any time there's even a slight chance you could become a mod. Why? I'm not sure. You'd be kicked off the mod team quickly enough if you abused your power. Maybe you think we'll respect (read: fear) you if you were a mod.

There's all sorts of reasons people want a position of power, however small it is. Whatever yours is, it's not for the good of the community. That much is obvious.
I want power so I can enforce the will of God on this forum : )

But seriously can we just shut the hell up about this? Geez
Why? Does it bother you? Some of us genuinely want to discuss this, so kindly don't intervene.
I'm not actually annoyed, it's just dumb having 2 big threads discussing the same topic knowing no actual result will come from it.

It's literally just opinions and arguing
Now that reply bothers me. First thing I'd like to address is that even though you're correct in that their discussion won't get any conclusions, you are wrong about no results being achieved. Discussing things brings you closer to the truth, whatever truth it is.

The second thing is that opinions and arguing is what this site is all about when it comes to mod selection.

My favorite user should become a mod because I like them.
My least favorite should not, because I don't like them.
Challenger is just using the mod thing as a topic for attacking Verbatim's demeanor. Nothing wrong with that since both want to prove opposite points.

In short, this isn't about who should become a mod.
