Gaming / Sea of Thieves: Find a friend?
« on: May 21, 2016, 12:41:42 PM »
YouTube
This is the kind of game that you just have to get in on.

I'm thinking Fedorekd, Baconshelf + his friends, other people who have Xbox Ones

or Gatsby and Andrew + randoms

Visions of banter:
Spoiler

17/06/2016 update:
Sure, Tyger made a thread, but I feel as though it was lacking in hype, and was more about info
YouTube

https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/
There's apparently a board for finding friends, but I feel as though partnering up with randoms isn't gonna be great.

I also want to play with Spartan T110

If they don't feel that they're under attack, how do they know that they are? If it's built in, then what's the difference between us and them aside from moments after we experience pain? If we feel a pain somewhere we will instinctively avoid what's causing it. Plants do the same, but they're not able to think, so the capacity to suffer isn't there for them
https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/personal-incredulity

Just because you don't understand how plants could "know" they're in danger without pain doesn't mean that they do feel pain. It just means that you don't understand something.

We don't understand it, and there is absolutely no logical, rational reason to apply human logic to a plant.
Look, it's not that I'm unsure, it's just that I'm trying to engage the reader with these questions. It has however  become apparent that our definitions of pain are different. I see pain as a response, not as a feeling. Plants feel pain, that much I'm 80% sure. If they weren't able to sense damage, then they wouldn't be able to respond at the right time. Doesn't matter if it's an automatic response that happens without them experiencing anything, it's still a response to pain.

Holy shit this part is retarded
No it isn't. You probably just don't understand it.
Clouds don't feel like there's too much electric bullshit going on, there just is. Once the maximum capacity is reached or once the electrons interact too much the energy has to go somewhere, because all that action resulted in a big bolt of lightning. Due to gravity pulling down on the clouds - and the fact that there's nothing concrete above - the lightning goes down to the ground; just trying to find the closest thing to touch.

I think that it's pretty safe to assume that plants feel pain
No. It isn't.

Plants feel tissue injury and respond quickly, precisely, and with an effective battery of defenses. They don't feel *like us*, but it would be a mistake to say that they *don't feel*.
But what has this got to do with supporting the only morally relevant claim worth considering, namely that "plants FEEL AND SUFFER from pain"? Where are the scientific references for this putative fact?
If they don't feel that they're under attack, how do they know that they are? If it's built in, then what's the difference between us and them aside from moments after we experience pain? Although the plant pain promoters are fond of reductios, they will not likely appreciate the following extension of their own. By their "logic", it would equally be the case that rain clouds behave purposefully in the sense that they could be said to functionally remove, by way of raining, excessive moisture that is causing their overstaturation.
Furthermore, rain clouds bear meaningful information about their level of oversaturation in the form of weight relative to volume. Do not clouds, therefore, "sense" (in some tortured notion of the word) when atmospheric pressure is insufficient for their moisture content to remain in a vaporous state?

I think that it's pretty safe to assume that plants feel pain, but that they lack the capacity to suffer.

when you die inside seeing an equation
I don't get it, why would you die inside? The fact that you can use deduction to solve already solved equations should be comforting. The only time when math sucks is when you don't know how to operate it.

I didn't choose to go down that path, but learning about sigma in math excited me, which got me thinking. When do you lose the fun in math?

Whenever I see a fedora with my friend(s) I laugh out loud and point at the fedora wearer while calling him an autist.

I think that answers itself.

Yes.
Explain?
He's just being a fuckboy

If the question has the answer in it, that doesn't make it stupid. It's the person who is stupid for not realising that/being able to figure it out.

I don't think you know what a fuckboi is

And yes a wuestion with the answer in it would never be asked in an intelligent conversation so it is inherently stupid
What kind of logic do you operate?

The Flood / Re: Justified double standards
« on: May 17, 2016, 11:13:41 AM »
What does that mean though?

You could for instance hire a white dude over a black man because most of your clients are racists, and so it would be the logical thing to do if you're seeking profit. Is that a double standard?

That is a lack of moral courage
Your reply is stupid

Are you? If you can understand why it's stupid I won't hold it against you.

If you cater to something that you morally oppose because of lost profits, then you lack moral courage. Having moral courage means standing up for what is right even when you are penalized
There's no need to explain what you wrote, I understood it through your first reply.
