The Flood / Re: What happened to the culture of the internet?
« on: September 04, 2016, 11:49:09 AM »
The 4chan memes are becoming more cynical, and more ironic, whereas normie memes are getting more and more normier, but I'd like it if Sep7agon were to conserve the intellectual atmosphere of smart teenagers discussing ideas that also existed on Bungie were to remain. No matter what memes we use, or how they change, we don't become a part of them; we share them.

Chally's and Mordo's posts are not examples of this. They're an example of the kind of sep7agon I don't want, where we essentially try to become the memes. The memes are no longer a subject we share, but it is what we follow. Being ironic of ironic posts, or making fun of something by imitating it is not what sep7agon is about, it's just what 4chan is doing. Adding layers upon layers. Perservere, Sep7agon, perservere and shine because that is your identity. If the normies get an identity and the 4channers get an identity, then we, another subculture-group, should also be able to have an identity.

I'm not annoying in public
Are you subconsciously seeking my approval because I've been mean to you in the past? If you really want my approval you'd produce stuff that I'd enjoy. Oh it can be anything from funny cat pictures to an essay on how great I am.

4233
youre both of these things tho
If it weren't for you trying to be annoying you wouldn't be so annoying.

4234
Are you a moron?

Are you going to be annoying?

If the answer is yes and then no, you might get some enjoyment out of it, but if it's no - yes, then I'm not gonna enjoy it at all. Answering "no" to both of these questions and being honest would be nice- hell, it'd be perfect. Of course they might not know they're a moron if they are one, but even so there must be some doubt. Having a checklist for interactions and actually adhering to them would make my life a lot easier, but it's not like you can ignore people you meet face to face, unless of course you're in that position, but even then it's kinda rude. And even if you were to ask people these questions they'd get offended and the whole situation would be biased against you. You just can't ask these questions, and once you get the answer through experience it's not like anything has changed. If the person is someone you want to get away from you'll still want to get away from them.

Boxy died, and with her our cultural identity perished, so now we must inject dank ironic maymays to cope, and like any addict, our tolerance rises and we must find new layers of irony as we try to appease the lord Kek to return our queen to us.
What will be the next step tho?

Things don't stay the same. First we have stupidity "I can haz cheezburger?"
Then we have ironic stuff
Then it shifted slightly and we're currently having serious stuff like depression being at the centerlight

What's next? Could it be that the next thing we're gonna have is straight edge content?

ignoramus->smartass->sadboy->Straight-edge?
I mean, let's face it, Verbatim is kickstarting the next step of the interwebs

The Flood / What happened to the culture of the internet?
« on: September 04, 2016, 10:12:59 AM »
Early 2000-2010

I keep thinking that maybe it's me who has changed, but then I look at content from that period and I get the same feeling for that era. You know how there are eras in our history like the romanticism, the renaissance etc? Well maybe that has carried over to the internet, and because it's the internet and not an asocial world we're seeing rapid change between eras?

I think we should name them

These are just placeholders:
Era of lolcats (early internet)
Age of dank memes 2015-????

Examples of the two eras' content:
lolcat era

YouTube

Dank memes

Alternatively ever since about 1900s the times have progressed so fast we're seeing the annual change in the course of a decade (think 80s vs 90s vs 00s). Or maybe every era has had these sort of checkpoints but we're only aware of the 1900s because of better documentation.

I'm not a cynic, I just don't approve of your lifestyle.

yeah cause my lifestyle is soooo terrible. Whatever you gotta tell yourself.
It's not terrible, it's pathetic.

Kinda like a normal person choosing to do a side hobby of killing people.

Only you bring yourself down by shoving trash into your mouth while sitting on your ass watching boring content. You remind me of my uncle, and one night with him almost gave me depression of how bullshit his life is. I mean, yeah, go ahead and die a mediocre life, but damn, man.

Fusion or bust, eh? You ever heard of the guy who defied the mafia, and chose to win the boxing match? He didn't care about his life, all he wanted was to win, then he could die, but they didn't kill him. They stopped him from living his life the way he wanted, so for 40 years he lived his life miserable; 40 years of living in a dead body. You might be willing to give it all in the moment, but you're gonna have to live with the loss for the rest of your life, so unless you're planning on dying any time soon, don't do it.

I don't see what this has to do with nuke fusion.
I'm not sure if what I had in mind was conveyed into text form, and I'm not gonna read what I wrote because I didn't put much thought into it, but basically, if you put all your eggs in one basket because you're okay with losing your eggs, then once you've lost it it's not game over, you just continue living your life without those eggs. At the time you'd be find with ending your life with the bet, but because it doesn't end after the fact, you're gonna live a sad life because you're never going to see those eggs again. If he puts all his trust in nuke fusion, and it doesn't happen, he's gonna be hopeless. I'm being a bit melodramatic because I'm in that mood, but there is some sagewisdom in this, and it's relevant.

If you wanna know more about me,
-I'm straight-edge
-I try to enjoy everything in life
-I'm an optimist
-I love people
-I'm analytical
-I'm into fitness and athleticism
-I love my body
-I love my charm
-I love myself
-I'm a bit narcissistical, but hey, if you don't love yourself you're not doing by yourself right

Oh, sorry. I guess I'll just go back to muh Kanye West, Football, McDonalds, and fox news. Or not.

Why are you just naming great things?
Football is boring and lame, McDonalds is for people who have no self-respect, and fox news is good for people who like to stop thinking.
But I mean, go ahead and choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself.

Thank you, I will.

Go ahead and keep being so cynical and hating life. Me and everyone normal will be here enjoying it.
I enjoy life, I enjoy life a lot.

I just don't believe in indulging in the simple pleasures because your weak mind doesn't know any better. I believe in being the best version of yourself. Going through mind-numbing content that doesn't benefit you at all is the very definition of a sheeple, a layman, or a normie.

I'm not a cynic, I just don't approve of your lifestyle.

Quote
As of September 2015, the CSTE had diagnosed CTE in 96% of NFL players analyzed in postmortem brain studies
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic_traumatic_encephalopathy

Whereas in boxing only about 17% of all professionals have CTE

CTE is minor blows causing permanent brain damage.

Loaf, get out of your head and see the world for what it is. You sound like an angsty teen who doesn't go out. You sound like a robot who doesn't know what it means to be social, or how other people think.

OT: you people are both fucking idiots.

Animals can do whatever the fuck they want; they're our slaves. You know what happens to animals that don't get picked up? They get put down. We feed them steak; they eat it or do their own thing (dying or finding food themselves). Now if we feed them vegan food, then they can eat it, or they can die off or find their own food. Owning an animal is not like owning a child. When you buy a puppy you need to feed it what it needs, but when it's old enough to get food on its own it's on its own. You owe it to them to take care of them when they're that young because you took it upon yourself.

And to vegan pet owners, are you fucking dumb? Animals eat meat all the time. Why would you risk having to feed them meat just so you can snuggle with a dog? Doesn't matter that they can eat veggies, what matters is that you're forcing them. Wouldn't it be easier to just grow up and not get a pet?

Oh, also, sure, we've fucked up our planet, but beyond our ability to survive and prosper? I don't think so. Not from heating at least.

The problem with overpopulation can be solved in antinatalism, but who would do such a thing, right guys?

I don't know about poor countries, but rich countries are having less and less children.

The people that make up poor countries are the majority by a long shot. And they are breeding like rabbits, filling in the gaps for the first worlders and expanding the population.
Be concerned about countries in Africa, or other places with lower potential.

Places like India have a great potential to be like China due to how much education and engineers India is producing.

In the future all those engineers are gonna fill in the spots and do outsourcing to India, and India is gonna be richer, and then the rich won't want so many poor, so they'll implement laws against having so many children. It is the only reasonable thing to do.
