didn't the creators of the show say they added those scenes because they were eventually going to be written into the books, though? in which case it wasn't necessarily pointless.

edit: my info might be horribly wrong in which case ignore everything i say i'm retarded

and for all we know, the director and whatnot could have been super accommodating to his needs and made it as comfortable as possible for him. maybe.
What
the little quote we were given just says that it was very hard for the actor and there were multiple takes. hbo might have tried to make it bearable for stephen dillane (or they might not have cared, i don't know).

i'm just saying that this little bit of info really isn't enough to crucify hbo on.

to be fair, he is an actor. it's part of his job. the story wasn't written with his trauma in mind.

note: you can also bypass the -blam!- profanity filter by using that in the middle of the word.
That doesn't work here.
i know. i was just being silly. there's also not a profanity filter here!

i agree with you. i don't care whether someone legit is better than me or in a worse place than me; all that matters to me is who they are. i tend to believe things that i'm told very easily, because i don't really have a reason (on the internet) not to. but when they're caught lying (which they usually are eventually) and are just unable to own up to it, it's just shameful. so no, i don't think you're being too harsh.

Septagon / Re: quick question: how did this community start?
« on: June 19, 2015, 03:59:19 PM »
Basically, on top of what Lemon said, Bungie released an update to their website most of us were unhappy about.
It ruined a lot of what made the site good, on top of choosing to develop the site that way to only accomodate the new users there for Destiny, instead of their long time fans.
aye, i was there up through that. the site updates that came w/ Destiny really fucked the forums (and the community) up. that's why i left too.

As the website grew with idiots only coming for Destiny, the users you see here, along with many we've lost along the way, moved off Bnet to eventually land here.
so it really just grew over time as more people realized how awful the new bungie forums were? that's pretty cool. glad to see this place turned out pretty successful in that.

thanks for the answers (both of you)!

Septagon / quick question: how did this community start?
« on: June 19, 2015, 03:35:07 PM »
obviously this forum branched off from the Bungie forums (i'm guessing because of B.next and the new trash that came in with Destiny), but what was the history behind that? i.e. was there a private group that decided to move offsite, did a few key members create a new site and invite people from the Bungie forums, or something else?

after b.next dropped, i mostly abandoned the Bungie forums, and so i missed just about everything that went in. i'm pretty curious as to how this site got its start.

tfw. i'm the same way. even to the point where, during longer conversations, i start not paying attention because i'm worried about something i said earlier, which then leads me to worry about whether or not i looked like i tuned out and if they think i'm a fuck because of that, and on and on in a terrible cycle. i just can't help it. i tell people i'm bad at conversation, but really it's just because i'm too worried that i said something weird or whatever.

The Flood / Re: What are your Go-To Pizza Toppings?
« on: June 19, 2015, 02:20:51 PM »
bacon & black olive
grilled chicken, tomato, pesto instead of tomato sauce
barbeque chicken, barbeque-sauce-instead-of-tomato-sauce

local pizza places make some damn good and damn interesting pizzas.

tfw never went to a single (alcohol-involved) party until after i graduated hs
tfw have not gone to bed sober for the past month and a half

college has ruined me

edit: also, have fun! parties are really great. have some fun with your bros, meet new people, and be confident (because no one really cares when everyone is drunk).

posting on forums from 9 to 5 because i've got no work to do. not a bad way to get paid tbh. and when work does come, it's usually in small bursts and i'm right back to posting on forums after that. (i work in online course production for my uni).

it's supposed to pick up big time in august, tho. looking forward to it since the days drag on right now.

i don't think a community like this needs a definition. sometimes, it's just nice to have a gathering place to talk with people you can sometimes tolerate. it doesn't have to revolve around anything special.

also, one hundredth post dedicated to this community :)

idk, really anyone is better than boo. that entire arc was so damn boring compared to everything that came before it...
The anime had a lot of filler for that arc.
is the manga worth reading if i've already watched the tv series a couple of times? i'm not a huge dbz fan, and i last watched it a few years ago, but if it's significantly better than the anime i would probably give the manga a shot.
I preferred the manga myself.  A lot of the complaints the anime get are gone.  Power up scenes that are 30 seconds to 4 minutes in the anime are just a few panels at most in the manga.  No stupid voices, no stupid filler (fuck those Hercule scenes during the Cell games), etc.
huh. with as much time as i have this summer, i may give it a shot. though i also have boatloads of other manga i've fallen behind on lol

Gaming / Re: So there are micro transactions in Halo 5
« on: June 18, 2015, 03:25:51 PM »
i was okay with it until i read that you can purchase the REQ packs w/ real money "for convenience". while i don't like it, it's reasonable (and fair) to have features that you can unlock w/ in-game currency, since it just promotes more gameplay. but being able to buy those same features w/ real money just feels like a cash grab...

not that it matters too much; i don't have an xbone and don't plan on getting one so i won't be getting or playing Halo 5.

i'm def interested. i probably won't bother signing up for the beta, but i'm looking forward to more information and gameplay. what they showed at E3 looked... almost too spammy, i guess? like one move/series of moves was being used repeatedly. i'm anxious to see how deep the combat will be.

There were some awesome bits in the Buu saga like Majin Vegeta, SSJ3 and Mystic Gohan, but man did it really drag
ah, yeah, majin vegeta was pretty great. i guess at least one good thing came out of that saga.

The Flood / Re: Would you date a disabled person?
« on: June 18, 2015, 12:43:07 PM »
possibly. if they were a paraplegic or if they had a mild, unobtrusive disability, and they were both cute and i liked to be around them, i would consider it. if they were seriously disfigured, a dwarf, or otherwise not-cute or obnoxious to deal with, i wouldn't.

oh, and this is obviously assuming they're 2d.
