« on: June 23, 2015, 08:15:39 AM »
aye, mostly to lurk though. i haven't posted in a few years.

/r/dota2 for dota 2 news (pretty much the fastest source)
/r/anime for airing anime discussions
/r/shoegaze and /r/nujabes for bumpin beats
and sometimes i'll read askreddit threads at work because i've nothing else to do.

i pretty much ignore the rest of the site.

i woke up at 8:45, managed to get to work on time by 9:00 (barely), which is good. i'll be at work from 9 to 5 today, and i'm going for a run afterward. after that, i'm probably going to chill all afternoon/evening, so i guess i'll see what comes out of that. overall, it looks like a pretty average day.

??? what did bungie do? group admins/mods can't moderate non-member posts, even for private threads? so, for example, you could spam a thread then leave the group and they can't take any action?

if so, that's some shitty design, bungie lmao

yeah, my experiences don't really coincide w/ yours. a few years back i would regularly masturbate twice a day, every day. these days, i masturbate far less (not really a conscious effort, i'm just not a horny teen anymore), but i don't feel any more energetic or motivated or whatever.

those are actually pretty cool shirts. would wear on the town. not with someone wearing a matching tee, though... that's kinda cringey.

Work has dragged on all day. Very slow, very little work to do. I'm still here for another hour and fifteen, too... but it def could be worse, so I guess I'm pretty good.

Looking forward to going for a run later, for the first time. Usually I hate running. Glad it's starting to be enjoyable.

Dominoes is pretty bad tbh. I like it enough cold and for breakfast, but I really don't care for it hot and fresh. Fortunately there are a few significantly better choices for pizza and sucb right around where I live.

The Flood / Re: Do you think your online persona is important?
« on: June 22, 2015, 02:16:44 PM »
i care a lot about what people online think about me. i try very hard to be well liked and i avoid controversial bullshit. beyond that, i just act like myself online (moreso than i do in real life, actually).

The Flood / Re: i want to start learning basic programming
« on: June 22, 2015, 01:06:03 PM »
thanks for the replies.

i've used w3schools in the past for HTML and CSS and i liked it, so i'll continue with that until i have a proper grasp of those. after that, i guess it's javascript since all of you recommended that! i'm generally pretty good at messing with existing code and picking up the basics so hopefully it won't be too difficult to build off that and learn how to code from scratch.

and i did know that html and css weren't programming languages, btw :P

right now just for web pages and web design, i think. where should i start, and where should i go from there? i know basics of html and have looked a tiny bit into css, both of which are probably where i should begin, but where do i go from there? and are there any tips and tricks to help make the learning process better?

Gaming / Re: New PS4 model announced
« on: June 22, 2015, 12:41:02 PM »
now they need to make a new model w/ some form of backwards compatibility, even if it's just a download from the PSN store when you insert the PS3 disc.

sony pls, unlike the ps4 there are actually games for the ps3.
they've already said that's will never happen. Something along the lines of wanted to focus their efforts on moving forward rather than focusing on the past
that's unfortunate. i'm really disappointed with my PS4 so far, but if I could play my PS3 games on it I would certainly use it more. i guess it makes sense, though; hopefully Sony has some good stuff waiting in the future.
Emulation for the PS3 is basically impossible anyway (hyperbole, kinda). the CELL architecture of the PS3 is a big reason it won't happen.

Emulation of consoles that use less ass-backwards architectures than CELL is already difficult as it is.
ah that's a shame... i just hope my PS3 lasts as long as my PS2 has (which is still functioning(ish) today!). i have some of my favorite games on PS3.

does the PS4 also used CELL architecture?
If PS4 used CELL we'd definitely get backwards compatibility.
The PS4 uses the x86 architecture that PCs use (Xbone also uses x86).

Development of games early in the PS3's cycle was insanely hard because of how ridiculously complex CELL is. There were still games later in its cycle that were super wonky because the PS3 was difficult to develop for - just look at Skyrim and how fucked that was on PS3.

So trying to emulate CELL on the PS4 is pretty much never going to happen without hiring meth riddled geniuses to do it.
gotcha. thanks!

Septagon / Re: quick question: how did this community start?
« on: June 21, 2015, 09:34:25 PM »
Basically the July 17 update last year disabled all website compatibility with Coup, added a blaring white background (that couldn't be changed), and broke several other features, to the point where you may as well have been using Internet Explorer 6. #gaming, #Community, and #Bungie were also overrun with misposting that really belonged in #Destiny, Moderators did nothing about it, and Cringeworthy 9gag-tier 14 year olds took over #Offtopic. The mobile app also crashed regularly afterwards, on top of displaying year count instead of join date.

That led to a large portion of the users making threads complaining about it, and then the Proboards forum went up. Some dramatic shitstorm happened that made everybody flame the absolute shit out of Noelle and Kinder, resulting in the site taken down. That's all I know on the leadup to sep7 being created.
that pretty much tells the whole story, combined w/ what was posted above. thanks!

i've been chilling out to this album all day. it's kinda odd, but i like it more every listen.

YouTube

So far it's reminding me of a mix of Melody's Echo Chamber and Alpine. Diggin' it.
melody's echo chamber is some A+ music, man. Quand Vas Tu Rentrer? is one of my favorite songs.
