School can take you through the red tape and restrictions of our nifty little engineered system.

Street makes you aware of the real world beyond our fake nifty little engineered system.

Ideally it's better if you have both. You can navigate the red tape but you're not niave to how the real world works.

Now, which would you have more of?

Just means she's a slut who doesn't respect herself. You should go after a woman who appreciates nice guys and respects guys with intelligence who treat her nicely. Then you can get married and have missionary position sex strictly for procreation. Then spend your days playing video games while she makes you sandwiches and sits in the kitchen thanking her lucky stars that such a nice guy chose her.

Or, you can slap your "friend" upside his fool head, take the pics and post them here.

It's your choice. Make the right one.

Wait, you're getting a slideshow? I'm seeing a scroll down list.  You should be seeing a few reasons why the state was ranked that way and a pic of something in the state. Not a slideshow

One is knowledge on how things actually work. Things like people, systems and things like that. The other is on the theories, hard sciences and intangibles.

Ideally a well balanced person would have both. Nearly no one does.

1) Which do you feel is more important?

2) Which do you have more of?

You are, all of you, sheep
Sitting in your Church thinking, what, I wonder?

That you might escape the coming fire?

No. Your religion will burn, and not even your Zombie-god will crawl blackened to mar the reflection of our Euphoria

Your destruction is the will of the Dawkins!

And I? I am their instrument!

Is it in "The West?"

Many, too many, of my fellow atheists seem to think that the fight is here. Keeping theist agendas from being forwarded here at home.

Does it deliver an impact worthy of the effort put in?

I say there are other "battlefields" more worthy of the effort. Though it would mean leaving the comfort of our homes and actually getting into harm's way...

1) The Middle East. ISIL is a direct example of the refutation of secularism. People are losing their lives over a bullshit interpretation of a religion.

2) India and South Asia. It's not widely known, but women are pretty regularly attacked for "being witches" and other superstitious nonsense.

3) The majority of Africa. Like India, there is rampant superstition that leads to violence and death.

In all three of these regions, people are dying because of superstition and religion. Yet nearly no one goes to fight for atheism there.

Maybe it's time we focus on areas that matter?

The Flood / Re: Real memes happen on Facebook
« on: February 29, 2016, 12:10:39 PM »
its not about the quantity it's about the quality

What's worth more? A great idea, worth $500,000 to a single customer or a shitty idea that has a million morons giving you $1 each?

Don't confuse power with quality
quality things are timeless

things in quantity are trendy and saturated

it's all about your taste in art

Except that you are talking about the subjective view of quality and I am talking about the objective measure of impact.

The "memes" on Facebook, idiotic as they are, reach such a large population that they are more powerful than the "quality" ones you see elsewhere.

Quote
an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation.

Like it or not, not even the biggest online forums have a population approaching Facebook. Sure, "real" memes exist elsewhere, but they don't have 1/1000th the power of one spread on Facebook.

The Flood / A review of the Atheist Professor vs Marine
« on: February 28, 2016, 06:42:02 PM »
Everyone has seen it. The parable of the atheist professor going on about how God doesn't intervene in human affairs, until the US Marine stands up and punched him, saying he was standing in for god. After which a bald eagle shrieks for freedom, the marine proceeds to take OSB's severed head out of a sachel and starts to skull fuck it until he ejaculates red white and blue .50 cal tracer rounds from his cock and Ronald Reagan drives through the wall in a M1 Abrams tank with Jimmi Hendrix's National Anthem playing and the whole class yelling USA USA USA as Michael Jordan jumps over the tank to slam dunk. Sunglasses float down to the Marine's face and he yells deal with it faggots and rides into the sunset.

I think this parable depicts exactly what Jesus wanted his message to be. Fucking be a Christian or a badassed Marine will knock you the fuck out.

So, you better be a Good Christian or Master Gunnery Sergeant Hank Johnson will fast rope through your window and knock you out.

The Flood / Re: Interstellar was more human than 2001
« on: February 28, 2016, 09:38:19 AM »
Interstellar was good, but it was like the Kidz Bop version of 2001.

I have to disagree. Interstellar paid more attention to detail on the science side of things than 2001 did. It was just focused more on the human condition. Above all else, Clark was a futurist.

If anything, Nolan was showing us how WE fit in 2001. The plot lines are pretty similar when you take out the plot devices.

2001 had immanent nuclear war with Russia. Interstellar had ecological collapse. 2001 had the First Born and the Monoliths. Interstellar had 5th dimensional beings communicating with gravity.  Bowman and Cooper both overcome a mutiny that take their crew and go on a hero's journey through a singularity. The movies end with humanity either evolving or being directed to evolve.

The difference is the focus. 2001 was about the species as a whole, Interstellar was about the individual.

The Flood / Interstellar was more human than 2001
« on: February 28, 2016, 02:45:34 AM »
I'm REALLY late on this. But I finally got around to watching it. I think it was equal to 2001, but in a different way.

In the movie there was a battle between two ideologies: Survival as a species vs survival as an individual. 2001 was about our species. Evolution was the theme. 1st as hominids discovering tools up to the birth of the star child.

Interstellar showed that an individual can survive what it would take to reach the stars and touch the inexplicable.

This is the forum equivalent of waking up to a pissed girlfriend in the middle of a fight with one her coworkers. Try as you might to care, all you hear is petty bullshit.

Trust me, from someone who let Camnator of all people prolapse my anus, raging like this isn't worth getting this worked up over. I had hoped that my bitch out would have taught a lesson to everyone else. Stop caring about anonymous posters on a forum. Life's too short.
