reminder that impeachment isn't enough to get him out of office

I am hoping he Nixon's before the hearings.

At least Trump is building a wall. Whereas in the EU when one country falls, everyone else goes down with it. I don't identify myself ''European'' and moving out of the EU countries might be the only option if EU policies continue to exist.

He ain't building a wall. I am beginning to believe he never intended to. It was just a lie to get people to vote for him

It doesn't surprise me, but it does worry me that he did it while bragging. It shows the character of the man. Is what he did illegal? Hard to say. Ultimately what is classified comes to him. Yet it's really stupid by not following normal channels.

There are lots of things I find morally repugnant that are accepted in society.
Genuinely curious what some examples of this would be?

For profit education and healthcare.

There are lots of things I find morally repugnant that are accepted in society. I just know where the line is and don't speak up on things that don't cross it. Your argument could as easily be used against abortion, gay marriage, etc... I may have poked at you on pg 1, but I can respect your opinion while disagreeing with it.

More to the point, I've been around a fair bit and eaten some things that most consider taboo, and I would adapt.

How else do we learn from it?
Well given we have virtually the entire collective knowledge of humans at the click of a mouse, I'd say the internet if you do proper research.

What's happening here could easily lead to what germany did.
I don't think so. You really think Americans who are so touchy about the federal government and "muh free speech", would let the government even try what Germany did? No, they'd easily freak the heck out. It's not like Germany with their censorship of Nazism, nor like China where they're censoring everything left and right. You mentioned you don't trust people in power, which is a very American thing as well. That alone encompass how most people feel. I wouldn't worry about it yet, nor do I think removing statue's of people on public area's who lead a rebel nation, is any form of censorship. Put it where it belongs, give it the respect it deserves, and give it the actual info it needs.

The fact we still have government buildings hoisting this kinda stuff, along with the confederate flag, is more than just "my history". In fact for the latter half, much of it was raised into government areas when Civil Rights was catching fire.

Which is part and parcel in the history of those statutes. History creates its own context.
ok sadiq khan

Hey, if you think history should be easily rewritten, that's your prerogative.  You're British judging by the reference. London is a city with a rich history, both good and bad. If you think it should be collected and put in a museum where a government can control the context in which it's shown, then that's your downfall.

It's removal means no one will ask those questions at that spot. This continues and the only place one could learn is in a classroom from textbooks that are written by those in power.
A museum provides the context and historical accuracy. Not some shitty monument of some random ass dude who wanted to keep slavery around in a place where there are a large portion of blacks. Maybe if there is some plaque offering context to who he was, or what the statue is dedicated for, but if the guy is just chilling there, no thanks.

And those in power always write the history, that's just how it is. But the Civil War has enough voices on both sides where every 5 years it changes from "The war on State Rights" to "The war on Slavery".

And occasionally "The war of Northern Aggression".

It's not like they are censoring shit about it or going full on Germany where its illegal to even have the flag around.
On this I am a fundamentalist. History is sacrosanct. How else do we learn from it? I don't trust people in power. I don't care if they're aligned with my current political views or not. No one should edit our story.

What's happening here could easily lead to what germany did. That's thought control by limiting information. At its core it limits free will.

So you're telling me
That there is a liberal agenda
Attempting to hide the past from our kids
So they can brainwash them
And make them in to mindless blm drones with their liberal brainwashing university system

Liberal? Not really. It's more complicated than that.
Jews?

Again with the jews. I told you, only a few of the slave masters are Jewish.
Zionists?

While the Rothschilds were indeed Zionists, not all zionists are in tat particular cabal. The creation of israel was more or less them flexing their political strength. Until the Axis united the world against it, the cabal had to gain control individually. After the war the nation states were able to be taken en masse.

Who's in it? Royals and the super rich.

I am really opposed to this removal. We have some good history and bad. Removing all the monuments to the bad essentially is rewriting history. Our cultural narrative is dependent on learning from our mistakes. By doing this we're creating a history that is Disneyesque. It's not real. History isn't a fight between good and evil. It's people living in the social framework of their time. Our modern morality shouldn't play a role in what happened then. At least in so far as the monuments of that history. This isn't having a battle flag as a state symbol. This is having a place that we learn from our mistakes
okay but like...
Here's this randomly placed statue of Jefferson Davis in the middle of New Orleans.

What am I supposed to learn from this?

It lacks context.

It's existence begs the questions of who he was, what he did and what he stood for. It's removal means no one will ask those questions at that spot. This continues and the only place one could learn is in a classroom from textbooks that are written by those in power.

Do people ever say that it's always selfish?

Are these the type of scenarios people generally think about when they talk about suicide?

Of course not. Being at the end of your rope is enough. If you've exhausted all alternatives and all you could look forward to is suffering, there's no shame in the act.

REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE-STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL

I am Dr. Bakare Tunde, the cousin of Nigerian Astronaut, Air Force Major Abacha Tunde. He was the first African in space when he made a secret flight to the Salyut 6 space station in 1979. He was on a later Soviet spaceflight, Soyuz T-16Z to the secret Soviet military space station Salyut 8T in 1989. He was stranded there in 1990 when the Soviet Union was dissolved. His other Soviet crew members returned to earth on the Soyuz T-16Z, but his place was taken up by return cargo. There have been occasional Progrez supply flights to keep him going since that time. He is in good humor, but wants to come home.

What if you're an oil driller named Harry Stamper and are on an asteroid the size of Texas hurtling towards Earth and you gotta manually detonate the nuke? You're killing yourself. You just put AJ back on the shuttle to take care of Liv Tyler. It's time to dad-up bro. Michael Bay is directing your reality and are you gonna hold on to some basement dweller's high ideals that all suicide is selfish or are you gonna light that candle?

Time to man up and push that button.

Event Horizon: a dozen crew members, no survivors (not the rescuing ship, the original crew)

Ishimura: At least dozens of crew members, no survivors (again, original crew)

Nostromo: 10 crew members, one survivor

Nostromo it is. Everything else has a 0% survival rate

Sounds like a power play.

Undermine whatever support he has by either having him spaz out on Twitter and other places, or it turns up some crazy evidence come out that proves this accusation which opens up a whole 'nother can o' worms.

Then McCain can either be a smug git and get the populist vote later("He's the dude who shoved a fire under Trump's arse!"), or gets Trump impeached and his party has a bit of a musical chair shuffle, McCain making the most of it.

Or... maybe he just doesn't like Trump.

I dunno. McCain's an old school patriot. I don't think he'd break ranks with his party just for a power play.

A person from his own party is calling for an investigation. I would agree with you if it were the Dems calling for it.
McCunt is basically a Dem.

I'm surprised you didn't call him McCuck. Isn't that the union approved term for Conservatives who break ranks?
