Staff Update Discussion

As was pointed out to me by the monitors that were online, and experienced for myself: we are in need of some new Ninjas to help moderate the forum while the majority of the staff are away during the day.

Everyone has lives outside this place; I know that. I understand that the staff can't be online all the time to deal with the bad eggs and shitposts. So what I'm asking for is the forum's opinion on which users to add to the mod squad and which ones to subtract.

I'm willing to consider new, regular users to enter the rotation, but I'd prefer to keep the swapping in and out among the Monitors and Ninjas. All opinions on the staff are welcome, regardless.

This isn't a poll since it's not an official vote; I just want everyone's input on this.

In light of Slash's resignation: Promote TBlocks to Master Forum Ninja

IcyWind and Yutaka should be promoted to Ninja

Nuka should be a monitor

I'd love to help out as a monitor, but it's not my decision.

I think leaving Sandtrap in, while you took away Ironman for being absent, a silly move so his position should be reassigned.
Even though I like Flee, it'd be a bit unfair to have him bumped up to mod after just getting on the staff.

I don't want to talk about removing any mods, but Slash has said something publicy about "not being interested in the site". I think having him in a position of Master mod isn't a good idea.

During the first few weeks, Cheat cleared up the matter about moderation. Ever since, and I also agreed to this, my moderation actions are performed only upon necessity.
The "horrible idea" for an anime board was something that was discussed in the staff. I also got permission by Cheat to create a thread for it. My aggressive defense of it is indeed a fault, but I don't feel like discussing it any further at this point.

I don't think she's "view(ing) herself as more than she really is".
She was given a position as an admin for a reason, I don't think her trying to help the site further by just bringing ideas to the table is anything to insult, if it is, how about you try doing more for the site?

Bryne, I'd like to remind you to steer away from those kind of comments. Ad hominems and "why dont you do betters" don't do anything to further the discussion and instead only serve to stifle it. A proper response to said comment would something like Isara's post.

Need another ninja for the off time. Slash and demonic aren't very active anymore.

Need more members in general. We keep losing the same amount we gain, although that's no fault of the site.

If you need an extra monitor I can fill in. I'm on the majority of the day (I always have this site up in an extra tab). I can also start checking up on the site more often as I have unlimited mobile data, so I don't have to be at home to monitor.

Just saying. Oh, and Flee should definitely be promoted to mod.

Well I recently gained more time to check things out, BUT, I am also juggling the YouTube portion.

As for my opinion: Yutaka seems to be on here regularly, so why not bump him up to a Ninja?

Demote Demonic to a monitor, he's rarely ever here.
Bump one of the regular Monitors to Ninja, I have 2 preferences but I wont say who.
If Slash is still absent for a while then I'd say demote him and promote a member to Master Ninja, again I have a preference for who.

I would suggest to change the way the ranks are and distribute the staff better. First of all, the majority of the moderation staff should be Monitors, afterwards Ninjas, and then Master Ninjas. Secondly, inactive moderation members shouldn't be demoted unless they hold the rank of Master Ninja (which would require an active Master Ninja to keep the moderation in check) and instead set as "inactive" but nonetheless retain their colors.

Since you want to have a rotation of members then it's better to keep that rotation for Monitors, and instead move up the Monitors to Ninjas who have potential for a permanent position in the staff unless they are resigning. Moreso, an inactive monitor can be easily be swapped with someone else. Also limiting the amount of Monitors per rotation would be the same as what's happening right now with the monitors.

Make Psy a rank higher than whatever he is now
If he were more active, I'd say Lord of Admirals for monitor.

Also, perhaps there is a way to make some board-specific mods that only have powers in that one board. That could take some stress off staff as then they're only worrying about one board.

Also, I'd say more GMT monitors, most are barely on in the middle of the day (GMT) but there's always 6+ in the American midday.

I know the time slot with the biggest problems, that was brought up, was late evening for the Eastern Time Slot: So, roughly 7-8PM EST through around 1-2AM EST.

The reason it's such an understaffed period is because the Euro Staff is usually asleep by then, or close to it. Meanwhile, the active US Mod (LC) is on the West Coast - meaning he can still be at work/out with friends, and can't enforce the entire forum on his own.

That's just what we've noticed - if you have another time slot that is poorly staffed, feel free to share.

Would it be a bad idea to have a chart for the most active times compared against active mod times?

Then you can just pick one of the active decent people that is consistently active in a weak timezone (if more are needed, and at the request of mods/Cheat), or just bump up one of the active monitors around that timezone.

Moderation wise it's going fine from what I see so maybe just bumping up some of the montors would be fine. We don't really need new monitors to replace them, as the last monitor applications hired 2 rather than one as advertised (so until Sandtrap had to step down for reasons, we were overstaffed).
